zylance
I'm looking to writing an album- only problem is that I've never been able to confine myself to any particular style. That's where you, the general community comes in! Take a look at my previous work at this link and tell me which style you think I should write an album in. That simple! Meteo Xavier
Why should you care about style?
SLyGeN
Phrygian, Phrygian Major, and Locrian modes. do it
zylance
Well, I see what you mean about style, but I can't really make an album out of random genres. That would be a compilation, not related songs.
JH Sounds
Well, I see what you mean about style, but I can't really make an album out of random genres. That would be a compilation, not related songs. Try telling that to DJ Shadow.
Meteo Xavier
So then its a compilation of your talent, not an album of a one-trick pony.
Mustin
An album doesn't need to have one genre. Just do whatever you want to do, pick the strongest tracks, and put them together. In this day and age, people don't have the attention span for a "concept album" anyway. This is an "iPod Generation" - everyone's on shuffle, baby. Get with the ti
zylance
Haha, alright, I'll keep writing singles no one will listen to.
Meteo Xavier
All songs are singles no one listens to.
Antipode
Personally I find albums that are all one style to be much more boring than albums with lots of ideas and variety. If you make an album, even a concept album, there's no reason for you to think "no one will listen to it" unless you make them all similar tracks. Just make what you feel like! Theory of N
Oh my god. I don't even know what that is, but I want some Viking Death Ska.
friendlyHunter
Well, sounds like you're asking for opinions, so here's mine: I liked the more relaxing ones the best, namely the "Escape Light" ones, and I also loved the orchestral ones and the piano ones. I also like trance so I liked Anatrance (and also Legacy). But I'm going to have to go Simon Cowell on you and say the singing usually held the music back. The one with the Russian accents was kind of funny though =p But that's just me. Make an album however you want!
zylance
Thanks for the reply, I guess that's more on the response I'm looking for. Escape Light was written for a film - I was trying to emulate Brien Eno, so maybe I'll work on more tunes like that.
