Kinslayer
pardon my ignorance, but is that related to Neon Genesis Evangelion, or is it seperate?
Chaz
Just seen episode 5 of Umineko no Naku Koro ni. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS GOING ON!?
relyanCe
pardon my ignorance, but is that related to Neon Genesis Evangelion, or is it seperate? its a remake tetralogy of NGE called rebuild of Evangelion the first movie's english dub is playing in theatres currently
Kinslayer
hmm, might have to go see it, NGE was a good show...the manga was quite well done too as I recall.
cobaltstarfire
I hope it does well enough in theaters that all of them will eventually be released in theater. Then I won't have to feel guilty searching for fan subs...
Native Jovian
hmm, might have to go see it, NGE was a good show... In what way, exactly? In that the characters were (deliberately) unlikable and unrelatable? In that the plot was nonsensical and the (endless amounts of) symbolism literally meaningless? Or in that it presented itself in such a pretentious fashion that it successfully tricked an ungodly number of people into believing that those were good things? The giant robots fighting aliens was pretty kickass, I'll give you that much. (Please don't lecture me about how they weren't really giant robots or aliens.) Too bad that that only took up a fraction of the show -- if that was the majority of it, I'd actually like the series.
cobaltstarfire
Eh to each his own. Eva isn't among my favorites (I don't really like it that much) but I think it's good at what it's aim is, and the Rebuild 1.0 did a much better job at it. Actually you might like rebuild more than you liked the original, cause apparently it's more action oriented, and you want to see giant "Robots" fighting it out with giant "aliens" right. Kinslayer
Here's a thought, what series that were really short would you like to see extended/continued? For me, Outlaw Star is definitely one I'd like to see continued.
LuketheXjesse
Let's talk about anime soundtracks. What are some REALLY good ones? One rule: don't give me cruddy annoying j-pop, I want some really beautiful, melodic stuff here. Unless there's metal soundtracks, of course; share those too (unless it's cheezy butt rock reminiscent of DMC 4). The only Anime soundtrack I know of that is totally awesome is .hack//sign's soundtrack, composed by Yuki Kajiura. STUFF .
Kinslayer
DeathNote has a really melodic, cool soundtrack...lots of use of guitars, piano, and orchestral elements, not to mention a really good remix of the Exorcist used as the main theme for both L and Near. I-n-j-i-n
Eureka 7 probably has one of the most hip soundtracks ever. Also the core themes in the series are quite epic and done orchestrally. The movie version has some really amazing tunes too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YxWyHvyWxA
LuketheXjesse
Post youtube links of recommended songs, while you're at it. Keep 'em coming, dudes.
The Damned
So, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 ended... and they did some sort of bullshit fake-out thing with one of the characters. Man, why are shows still doing that? It's a cheap attempt at drama and pulling at heart strings.

Ghost in the Shell is my favorite, but Wolf's Rain is pretty sweet too. By the way, is Eureka 7 any good subbed? All I've seen is the dubbed version that showed on Adult Swim, and the american voice acting was so obnoxiously whiney that I couldn't bear to watch it for more than a few minutes. The subbed version was pretty good imo as I didn't get that whiney aspect which seems to be the case for the English dub...
LuketheXjesse
Man, the only Anime where voice acting RUINED it for me was One Piece. I loved the Manga and got all hyped up for it and BAM! Smacked me in the face like a cold wet fish.
relyanCe
Gurren Lagann's soundtrack is pretty awesome, and i'm not talking about ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH either even tho it is pretty awesome too

Kinslayer
@ Epitaph, Examples of why DeathNote has an amazing soundtrack. L's Theme A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uUVX376U4M L's Theme B Near's Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaAl-KhpGZ8&feature=related Low of Solipsism http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYhLlz5bK6c&feature=related

Native Jovian
Anything by Yoko Kanno. Beaten to it. FLCL had an awesome soundtrack (though it's certainly j-rock, which doesn't seem to be what you're interested in). Ditto Trigun.
Brushfire
Anime music sucks. Except for Shiro Sagisu. EAT IT FATTY'S!!!
LuketheXjesse
L's Theme Ahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uUVX376U4M Hrm...was this used somewhere besides death note? I swear I've heard it elsewhere. The song was okay, it just never really built up to anything. It's good for what it is: a character theme.
