Brandon Strader
Greetings! We are very proud to present some of the work we have done for the Final Fantasy 1 Metal tribute album. We began recruiting and working on this album in January of 2010. Our goal was to cover the bulk of the entire original soundtrack in a progressive metal style. Recently, we've opened the GBA remake soundtrack as well for multi-genre remixes. What we present to you now is a nearly 15 minute preview of our work, the album's artwork, and a few new forum signatures. Please support our project by clicking the "Share on facebook / twitter" buttons below, which will link people to this thread. The preview features works in progress from the following artists: AMT - Dungeon blackguitar - Medley (Shop, Floating Castle, Menu) Bonkers - The Prelude Brandon Strader - Airship Chernabogue feat. Brandon Strader - Dead Music chthonic - Church Demonstray - Opening Theme & Undersea Shrine The Dual Dragons - Battle Scene Knight of the Round - Cornelia Castle M-H - Temple of Chaos Midgarian Sky - Matoya's Cave NintenJoe64 - Victory Riders - Gurgu Volcano TheoConfidor - Ship I recommend checking out the video above, but you can also... Download the MP3 Version! We are trying to complete the album by mid-December. After the songs are completed, we will seek album release opportunities. Thank you from everyone involved in this Random Encounter. Please tell people about this preview with the facebook/twitter buttons below. FORUM SIGS! Bahamut
This actually sounds quite interesting. Looking forward to it! Who was the one who ripped off the intro to Helloween's "I Want Out"?

M-H
Who other than I would ham-fistedly cram an ancient Helloween riff into a FF arrangement?
Chernabogue
Who other than I would ham-fistedly cram an ancient Helloween riff into a FF arrangement? This was the best idea ever.

Mirby
Holy crap. That was epic. Although Joe's take on the victory theme made me laugh a bit. Still, can't wait, man!
Brandon Strader
I'm glad ya'll like it! This is the only preview that was planned since the timeline for the album was only a year and we're ending soon. I personally would love to have it released on OCR, but time will tell how well that works out!
Brandon Strader
I hope it doesn't hurt that I am reviving this thread, but the album is coming to a close now and I just wanted to let people know. There's only a few artists working to put the finishing touches on a few songs. The final "cover" is ready, but we're thinking it may be a double album. Two discs with about 45 minutes each. It has surpassed the length of 1 disc so making it a 2 disc release is pretty much the only option. The cut-off is February 15th, and most of the files are already ready to send in to the OCR Staff. Hopefully it will come sooner than that date. We've got a bunch of artwork pages sliced out of two nearly 5000 square pixel paintings, some of which could have some text added to them, such as artist text, etc.
Otakatt
I'm happy to see that as the cover rather than the piece with the various characters. Not that the other picture was bad, but I think the Chaos one is more slick. The "Final Fantasy" text is a little hard to read though, IMO. Have you tried it just blue, sans red gradient? KyleJCrb
To add, it is pretty sweet, but the "Various Artists" bit is unnecessary, I think. holy crap comma abuse in that sentence
Brandon Strader
I'll try it just blue, or maybe with a subtle blue gradient with the higher blue being a brighter highlight. Thanks for the suggestions too, that "Various Artists" part may be changed with "An OverClocked ReMix Album"

Mirby
Where's the final boss theme? And what's going on with this, might I ask?
Chernabogue
Where's the final boss theme? And what's going on with this, might I ask? It was dropped as far as I know. And it's coming Q1 2012, according to djp/Brandon.
Mirby
Blast, that theme is awesome. Oh well. Can't wait!
Brandon Strader
I think Devastus was on for that, but then his pipes broke and he had to move out for a while. Since it was from the remakes and not the ORIGINAL NES ff1, I felt it was ok to not rush out a cover of it... We did cover every NES theme and SEVERAL remake/MSX/GBA/PSX what have you themes.. Izkemia even substantially covered the Save Music and other bits and pieces, and their cohesive medley passed the panel, so we're very happy about that. Quick notes: +Q1 2012, specifically anywhere from Feb to April +Gave the album to Nobuo Uematsu. He smiled, bowed, and said thank you! +OCR pimped ff1 and ff2 at the panel! -Didn't get anything signed by Uematsu. :'(
