Chiwalker
What is to stop it from happening? In the future could you see a few select remixers to go on tour as part of a label created here? Obviously $$$ and time are requirements, but it's a nice thought.
Ethan Rex
Well there's the whole thing about where we just remix music, so there's some legal stuff.
Mirby
Yeah, OCR can't exactly go around selling tickets to shows of the members playing songs remixed almost purely under Fair Use laws...
zircon
Actually some of the most popular video game cover bands are not licensed, so the legal angle, while definitely important, certainly hasn't prevented Armcannon, the Megas, the Oneups, etc. from performing. In fact I know of several specific bands endorsed directly by the game companies whose songs they play, without technically being legal/licensed. But have we considered some kind of label, either for commercial VG arrangements, live performances, and/or original music...? Maybe
Less Ashamed Of Self
How would things be different if it were a label exactly? I mean, I assume this relates just to albums... and those are already labelled: "OCRA-0001-0033" aren't they?
psychowolf
I believe they mean online publishing or perhaps actual CD publishing, as stated remixing isn't exactly original material, without the original source publisher/creators permission lawsuits could and most likely would occur, however if OCR were to make a label to sell original content such as protodomes Bluenoise album or zircons Antigravity album, that would be great and i would endorse that idea, of course now with the internet we have no need for publishers or record labels so even that idea is flawed, why 'fix' what isn't broke? Maybe I believe The Megas actually did the music for one of the (now cancelled) Mega Man Universe trailers. I wouldn't oppose an OCR label, but I think it would have to play safe with only original music.
KyleJCrb
the Megas This one is actually incorrect, as they are now licensed, as is Mega Ran. They weren't when they first started, however.

Is Black Materia licensed? I cannot imagine it likely that Square-Enix sold a license.

I don't think so, but his Capcom stuff is licensed at least. You'll have to double-check with him.
Mustin
If you want to license something from Square-Enix, just go here: http://www.warnerchappell.com/mechanicalhomepage.jsp?¤ttab=licensing
