The People's Remix Competition 259

PRCv10-25

Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

This is already the last regular PRC of 2013 and the 10th season of PRC. Because last round was extended, the round started later as in the usual schedule, but the deadline will also be a bit later as usual. The remixing stage of PRC260 will start after the remixing deadline of this round directly and that round will be a bit longer as usual, as it is a special anniversary edition.

Last round only one song appeared before the regular deadline, but after extending it twice, 2 other songs and 1 bonus mix where added, bringing the total to 4 songs. Because not many people voted, it was a close call and Esperado and Showroom Dummy tied for first place. They both picked a source.

Im gonna go with "ezios family" from assassins creed. Its a nice emotional song that you could really do alot with, and i think the remixers will enjoy it.

heres a midi that seems to be alright of it.

hello!

for next round I pick Batman title theme for Gameboy, it's a very good and simple theme! I will try to do a bonus :)

MIDI is here:

PRC instructions

  1. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 20 MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed (only as Bonus Mixes). If anyone has problems with uploading songs to ThaSauce let me know (in this thread) and post a download link to your song in this thread (so I can upload it to ThaSauce).
  2. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by FRIDAY December 13th 2013 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time: check my signature (below) or the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Note that this is a different deadline as usual. Two days extension.
  3. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix. You can also post the song in this thread if that doesn't work. Then I'll make sure it works.
  4. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
  5. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score.
  6. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC261 because PRC260 will be a special anniversary edition..
  7. The winners of PRC258, Showroom Dummy and Esperado, both can take part in this round by remixing the other's source. However, they are also free to submit a bonus mix, remixing their own track, or doing both as an eligible entry.
  8. You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

Oh, that Batman one is catchy once it gets into the meat of it. And, if my ears do not deceive me, the Assassin's Creed one actually uses almost the exact same chord progression! These will go nicely together. My new CPU and RAM arrived today, so with luck I may have time to make something for this on my new system.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 2 songs. To vote, do the following:

- Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries

- Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen.

- Fill in the rank of the entries from first to second. Leave the third box empty.

- State a reasoning for it.

- Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they should only fill in the first box. They get a free first place bonus if they vote, so it does not matter for the results. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments.

Showroom Dummy and Esperado both have a vote that counts twice.

You have until THIS Sunday, December 15th 10:59 am ThaSauce time to vote, check my signature in the first post or simply the ThaSauce page for the exact time you have.

The winner gets the right to choose the source tune for PRC261.

Check the ThaSauce Page to vote.

It's results time.

Total number of mixes - 2

Total number of votes - 4

Maximum Score - 13.

Evktalo did a good job, but still ends with the last place place wooden spoon with 9 points.

And the winner of PRC259 is Trism with 12 points.

Congratulations Trism. You are the winner. You may select the source for PRC261. Send your source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix).

You may select any source from any game, as long as it doesn't have an Overclocked Remix and it hasn't been on PRC before. Check it at the list:

http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).

Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Friday, 27 December 2013.

PRC260 already has started. The link to the thread is here.

You can find the votes with comments here:

Yay! Thanks for the votes and critiques everyone! And thanks to Eino for being and excellent opponent as aways. I agree that I really need to learn how to humanize the strings and whatnot.

With regard to MindWanderer's comments; I had no idea what the song actually sounded like going in. I always make a point of not listening to the original track when doing PRC entries. I actually thought it was a piano only track based of the midi, so similarities to the original are purely coincidental and actually a bit of a compliment :-)
