djpretzel Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Pushed out some minor site changes tonight; please report any issues! Use of font awesome for icons New photo-based icons for game systems e.g. (still missing a few) Slightly redder color for orange link text Addressed URL trailing slash inconsistencies described at http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46272 - ReMix links now default to no trailing slash, and will redirect to remove it if present (up to) 20 mixes listed on homepage, artist pages, system pages, org pages, etc. (increased from 10) Reformatted embedded forum comments on mix pages, album pages to more clearly separate user name, include user avatar, and also process more BBCODE tags (e.g. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02833 - see comments) Process game developer associations for organizations (previously just publisher) - this field still needs to be added to game detail pages, but we now have developer associations in place. This means that for a game like Mega Man 6, which has a US publisher of "Nintendo", it'll ALSO show up (as will mixes assigned to it) under the much more intuitive developer - Capcom. Another good example of this in action is the page for Rare, which now lists mixes for all the games published by Nintendo but developed by Rare. Announcement threads (like this one) on homepage now link to THREAD, not latest reply. There are a couple geekier under-the-hood changes, but that SHOULD be all of the meaningful forward-facing modifications. So, nothing major, but some hopefully some nice stuff that makes people happy. Should be the tip of the iceberg as we role out more incremental changes. V6 of the site is still on the agenda for 2014, but it's just going to be much easier to roll certain things out one-by-one and make sure they are thoroughly tested. Feedback welcome, and also any reports of issues/problems! If you're reporting a problem, the more info you can provide - timestamp, browser type/ver, OS, screenshot, etc. - the better! Anorax Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) I'm guessing including forum smileys (e.g. ) wasn't part of the mix page forum embed upgrade? Edited March 24, 2014 by Anorax Quote
timaeus222 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) I noticed the trailing forward slash error fix and the new front page header icons! Didn't notice the twice as many mixposts displayed on the front page until just now, but that's awesome! <3 Edited March 24, 2014 by timaeus222 Quote
Eino Keskitalo Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Nice stuff! I like the icons on the front page for instance, looks neat and distinguishes the sections from each other. I don't like the new system icons, though. One part is that I definitely have a pixel art bias, but more importantly I feel I need to squint to make out the icons and distinguish them from each other. When I look at the systems page, I literally need to lean forwards to the screen to see them clearly. They're a little blurry. The darker ones don't quite pop out of the dark grey background either. The photographs themselves are pretty cool though. Even though I really liked the pixel versions, those can definitely be aight as well. IMHO they do need another pass at the editing. I also like pics of machines instead of logos (MS DOS, Windows, Mac, Linux) but it's pretty hard to come up with a definite machine for Windows and Linux at least, so they're understandable. Despite the above criticism, I'm very happy to see this update! Good going! The replies on the ReMix page look a lot better now too! --Eino Quote

[…] Finally! Thank you thank you thank you thank you. And also now the page for Square indeed lists FF7 (formally published by Sony), and… Oh noes. I just found what can arguably be called a showstopper: the artist page for Uematsu-san (at http://ocremix.org/artist/3/nobuo-uematsu ) reads: "Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_array() on a non-object in /home/ocremix/public_html/includes/php/classes/lists/GameList.php on line 146"; this is the entirety of the page (Mac OS X 10.7.5, Safari and Firefox). CyberSkull Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Album covers for ReMixes that are part of albums don't seem to be showing up anymore. For example, "The Impresario" no longer has the balance and ruin cover art. Checked in Safari and Firefox, OS X 10.9.2. Quote

Confirmed. Not actually an issue with the code, per se - not happening on other artist pages, just Nobuo, because his queries generate the largest tmp tables on the MySQL side. Looking into it, obviously need to fix ASAP. CyberSkull said: Album covers for ReMixes that are part of albums don't seem to be showing up anymore. Looking into it, obviously need to fix ASAP. I'm getting the same error as ZPedro, only this time on every remix on the front page. Error reads the same except for:"/home/ocremix/public_html/remix.php on line 57". And apparently now the front page itself is throwing the same error, again on a different line: "/home/ocremix/public_html/includes/php/classes/lists/ReMixList.php on line 145". By the way, I'm using Firefox on Windows 7. Quote
DusK Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Accessing the main site yields this error: Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_array() on a non-object in /home/ocremix/public_html/includes/php/classes/lists/ReMixList.php on line 145 Cash beat me to it. Shit was so Cash. Quote

djpretzel Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Forums use MyISAM so they were spared the outage. Site uses InnoDB. Currently having an issue w/ InnoDB, although the main engine is back online. Nobuo Uematsu is still broken. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Why the HELL did you change the font color for **rist's sake? My eyes don't know what to do now! (Mostly joking, but also kinda not as I really could not tell if I was having a problem or something because something in the color is actually inspiring the utmost minor headache and/or nausea) Quote

Meteo Xavier Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I called him about it a while ago. He told me to go eat a big bag of dicks. So I did that, but he didn't tell me what to do after. Quote

Yeah, custom avatar not working... I can probably fix that, but we ARE going to move to a new forum and it's likely we'll be doing profile photos instead of avatars, so it's not super-duper high-priority. Quote
SuperiorX Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 From the homepage, looking at the 5 most recent updated threads under "competitions", it doesn't appear to be displaying them accurately. I know this because we've had recent updates in the SZRC Compo thread but I don't see it showing up on the homepage. Those homepage buckets used to show the top 5 most recently updated threads, but it doesn't appear to be doing that now. Quote
