analoq Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 who loves synthesizers? everyone, duh. Compyfox has been working on a resource detailing softsynths that approximate hardware synthesizers; both vintage and modern classics. most of us are software-oriented producers (myself included) so perhaps it is of interest? there's links to free stuff too, so peep it even if you're cashless: cheers. OverCoat Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Sounds fun. Especially since we have that 'thing' to do now WINK WINK Quote
Navi Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I'll go through later and name the others that it covers, but Broomstick Bass has a Moog Taurus as well. Can I get some recommendations on NI's Elektric Piano? Is it worth it? Quote

SnappleMan Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 People who know me know that I only use two softsynths (the only ones that are based on hardsynths I've actually used). This will help me expand my repertoire, so I thank you! Quote
Hsia Nu Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 nice, definitely bookmarking this site. You might want to make a note on your site. The Roland SC-88 sound canvas, Nobuo Uematsu used this to compose the entire Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack. And here is my proof: http://www.ffmusic.info/ff8ostliner.html Read the 7th question he was asked during the interview. Quote
analoq Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 and how would that be relevant, pray tell? the only reason FF7 is brought up in that list is because there's a Yamaha wavetable on of the discs. it's a useless bit of info what Uematsu used. cheers. Quote
Hsia Nu Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 sorry, just thought it would be a nice tidbit to have to give an idea of what kind of sound you can obtain from the device. but i guess you dont care about that. Quote
Yoozer Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 The site isn't just for remixing only, and you could've better sent an e-mail to Compyfox himself to have it included. While mr. Uematsu might be famous and all that, including artists in the liner notes would only be a good idea if you'd put them there for every piece of gear. Quote
Hsia Nu Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 ya know what, just forget i made the suggestion. I see there are quite a few egos around here so im not gonna say anything more on this subject. Quote
Yoozer Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 We may have egos but at least they're not that easily bruised (badum-tish!) Nah, don't take it that seriously . Anyway, Compyfox maintains the site so he'd be the one to ask to have it included. You can always try. Quote
OverCoat Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Too much work. Like then you'd have to list stuff like Keith Emerson has like 300 moogs, or Vangelis used rlrllflghlbnlrl* in Chariots of fire *forgot Quote
Yoozer Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Well, most of the work of gathering artist names has been done already - http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/cs80.shtml for instance (which was what Vangelis used). Quote
