GoldnGamer97 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 If you know who this guy is, then you might also think he'd make a great addition to OverClocked ReMix. His music is great, and I just like to listen to it. Such as his "Beware the Forest Mushrooms" cover (Super Mario RPG) [ ]or his recent collaboration with Insaneintherainmusic and 8BitBrigadier [ ]Seriously this jazz medley of "Conker's Bad Fur Day" is pleasant for your ear-holes. Not to mention the Great Mighty Scat (I think you'd call the "Great Mighty Poo" that too after you heard him scatting like Ella Fitzgerald). So yeah, this thread is just me being a fan-boy of sorts. MindWanderer Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) He's a great artist, but his work is pretty much covers and medleys. I personally doubt there's anything that would pass the OCR panel. I'm sure he could do it if he tried, though. Edited March 11, 2015 by MindWanderer Quote

Brandon Strader Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I've seen it go both ways but usually the panel should consider the following: - original drums - original rhythm guitars - grace notes, pinch harmonics, etc on guitar leads - original solo section (0:50 to 1:00) on Forest Mushrooms - structure of the original has actually been altered, this isn't a cover! - harmonizing guitar leads There's probably a number of other things in the song that make it interpretive but not as conservative as you'd think. He DOES do covers too, but this one is less of a cover. In my non-panel opinion, they'd probably just have to critique the production and such to decide whether this would pass and it'd probably be a DP. But they shouldn't accept it because there's too much competition in the metal remix areas of OCR. Quote
jnWake Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I love familyjules and would love to see him try and do something more OCR-ish. He mostly does covers and medleys but, who knows, the panel may like them! In any case, OCR or not, he's awesome. Quote
Flexstyle Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I'd love to see Jules submit something to the site. Remember, us judges have no control over what gets submitted--we can only approve or deny it once it hits our inbox. He's a super-cool dude, though, and his skills are undeniable. Personally speaking, I'd love to feature him on a track, and I may just have the thing here in a little while.... Quote
Phonetic Hero Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I first heard of him back a few years ago, when I was juuuust starting to discover OCR. I'd been wanting to try a Jetforce Gemini remix (probably would've been a bad idea, since I was just getting started ), and while I was looking for sources on YT. Didn't even remember he was the one to do it till I saw the thread and started thinking about it, and it's kind of a mess compared to the stuff he's putting out now. It's awesome to see the improvement he's made over time - I thought he was pretty good when I found him, dude's a BEAST now Quote

Nice tunes. If you think someone should be on OC ReMix, then you ask them to submit. We don't do targeted solicitation/talent scouting in any significant way. Quote

So I figured I'd share it on this forum for the listeners who haven't heard this guy. Quote
Pavos Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I actually approached him for BadAss 3, but he was WAY too busy Quote
Mikeaudio Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 It would be interesting to see what he would remix and how he would remix it. Quote
