Sixto
Something I started working on a couple of days ago. No lead or clean guitars yet, so it's a little empty. Going for an 80s metal kind of feel. Any suggestions would be appreciated. http://tadakichi.baka.us/Sixto_Sounds/Audio/turtles_in_time.mp3 Rework #1: http://tadakichi.baka.us/Sixto_Sounds/Audio/sewer_surfin.mp3 Rework #2: http://tadakichi.baka.us/Sixto_Sounds/Audio/the_sewer_of_the_rat_king.mp3

Geoffrey Taucer
Hey sixto, you need to update your website. Also, this mix owns a substantial quantity of face.
Tensei
Apart from complimenting on the obvious awesomeness of the mix, I'd like to suggest trying to process the drums differently. If I'm not mistaken, especially the snare should have a big gated reverb tail, and the toms possibly as well, as this is the custom in most eighties hair-metal songs ( Mötley Crue etc.) For the rest, I can't tell for sure yet without hearing the lead and clean guitars, but the mix tends to get repetitive in quite a few places, especially with the lead synth melody, so you might want to try making a longer and more different Bridge section instead of just a few breakdowns. Anyways, rock on! =P
Sixto
Here's a more final version. Replaced the placeholder drums, got rid of the cheesy orchestra hits, and even fired up my JCM800. Still no lead guitars, though. I mixed this all with headphones so I can't tell if there's too much reverb and I don't get my monitors back until tomorrow so let me know what you think. http://tadakichi.baka.us/Sixto_Sounds/Audio/sewer_surfin.mp3

SwordBreaker
Excellent work there, Sixto. You managed to give me a "blast from the past" moment with your 80s rock feel and the arrangement of the track itself. I can hear some reverb like you mentioned, but I'm not the guy to ask if it's too much. It doesn't annoy me, though. Love that guitar solo mid-track...that melted my face off! I also love that ambient part towards the end, and that build-up after it. My only criticism is the intro. The track just starts all of a sudden, and it almost feels like it's continued from a previous track...you know what I mean? Would be cool if there was some sort of build up to the main riff... noouch
Very well done. I've been enjoying this in a loop for the past twenty minutes. In the first version theres's something about the sound I like better. The updated versions sound "thinner" in comparison, especially the synth and drums. I think you might have a bit too much reverb, the reflection seems to be dominating too much over the direct sound. Also the RMS volume is 3db quieter on your current mix. In short: excellent arrangement, but final master could be punchier and louder in my opinion.
