  1. I watched this, was pretty good! Yes, a lot of dumb questions were asked, but oh well, was fun getting to hear the two together. I saw Return to Forever in 2011 and it was fantastic.
  2. http://www.pcgamer.com/the-elder-scrolls-online-drops-subscription/ Anyone else play or have played this game? I subscribed from day 1 of launch, but found myself unsubscribed after a few months. It was hard to justify 15 bones a month for a lacklustre game. Don't get me wrong, the game has A LOT of plus's, but too many negatives I think. I recently resubscribed for a month to check it out again and it seemed like the player population had already died....This is a bit bittersweet as I was both fearing and wishing for free to play. Hopefully this revitalises the game and doesn't turn it into just another "F2P MMO" like the millions of other titles that exist out there.
  3. Anyone else finding that game stores have very little support for the Wii U? I go to my local stores and their Wii U game collection is tiny compared to every other console.
  4. Always great to hear new stuff from you Markus, nice work on this one so far!
  5. They've got some pretty neat stuff on their channel. Groovy!
  6. It`s pretty hard to put a label on what is jazz and what isn`t. It`s less of a style or genre then it is a practice or school of music.
  7. I could never really get into those guys. Lambert, Hendricks and Ross however...
  8. Technically Manhattan Transfer is a jazz group. They've done some pretty corny stuff but they're one of the more important vocal jazz groups of the last 50 years.
  9. Thought I'd revive this old thread. Thanks Neblix, I'm glad you heard that because Coltrane was actually my inspiration for this chart! While we're on the subject of OCR jazz pieces, I can never get enough Shnab...
  10. Thanks man At this point I've already subbed it so I just wanted to post the finished product, but thanks for the feedback!
  11. Hey All and Happy New Year! Here's my first completed mix of 2015. This is a track I arranged originally for the FF7 web series as bonus content. The idea was to challenge myself to arrange the Chocobo theme, which was a challenge seeing as how Nobuo has already arranged it dozens of times himself. I decided to do a multi movement piece and named it Variations de Chocobo as it is essentially a theme and variations. Arrangement/Mix by Dylan Wiest Saxophones by Joe Zieja Variations de Chocobo i. Theme ii. Rag iii. Jazz iv. Dance https://soundcloud.com/wiesty/variations-de-chocobo-1
  12. Go home and be family man! But srsly, I've got my Xarcade stick for PC so this will be goooood.
  13. There have been plenty of musicians/composers who knew very little or nothing about theory and became very influential. Unfortunately most of them were virtuosos, so unless you're a virtuoso, best to learn from what people in the past have done, and best to do that through theory. Theory is also a language that musicians use to communicate, so unless you never plan on working with other musicians, learn some theory.
  14. Very cool! Possibly one of the most over mixed tracks, and I really enjoyed your take on it.
  15. Take a look on https://reverb.com/ for some used gear thats cheap. Get something like a Digi rack 002 or a MOTU. Pretty decent sounding pres and you can grab them pretty cheap these days.
