Hey Everyone,

Just finished and submitted my first attempt for evaluation. Do you think the judges will accept this? Any comments or thoughts are greatly appreciated for this rookie!!

I would say no, it's not going to pass. My reasons:

1. It's a medley. They generally don't accept medleys unless the sources are blended really well.

2. Cheap sounds. Sounds very GM-ish.

3. Pedestrian mixing of said sounds.

Argle: Thanks for the response! Ya I really didn't know what to expect as I'm really not an expert here, but really enjoy arranging/recording. I probably don't have the best equipment/software either, but it's a great hobby! Thanks for listening!

No problem man. It's pretty easy to get some better sounds. As for submitting medleys to OCR, I dunno, it's almost not worth it.

Hmmm...ok, good to know. I didn't really arrange this tune with OCR in mind, and probably because I don't even really do any "mixing" haha. Anymore suggestions with this one? Seems like I'm pretty much expecting it to get kicked back though

Well, for one, you could give it a title that doesn't have "medley" in it. ;)

Smooth out the transitions, upgrade the sounds. Start there.

The thing about medleys is that they work well when the songs have almost seamless blending. As it is, the tracks you've arranged together don't feel like they belong with each other.

The Dark World theme by itself is a pretty cool arrangement, if you were to get some better sounds to use it could do great by itself

Same goes for the Wind Waker tune as well, it feels like a Mario Kart remix of the original theme, which is pretty cool!

For reference on blending the songs together, check out the 25-Year Legend album that OCR put out a few months back. There's a track called "Zelda's Graceful Nightmare" and it's a great mix of a few different source pieces and it just flows very well.

Just listening to this teaser, and I actually don't mind it. But just like others have said it may not make it if it was submitted. Its a nice mix, but you've really gotta deliver something that makes listeners go "wow I want to hear more!" *digging the fact that it carries a Sonic tempo, it builds and keeps on going
