  1. Yo, guys, we've got one more completed track! It's a sweet melancholic take on Bridge Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog (SMS/GG version) by Eino Keskitalo! Great to see more progress, let's keep the things going! EDIT: oh, Eino, c'mon!

  2. Also, we will probably extend the deadline slightly, but this doesn't mean you can postpone sending us your track without any reasons.

  3. There's 1 week to go for the final deadline, and we've seen quite a bit of progress towards finishing the album. We've received a cool new WIP from WillRock, near finished versions of the tracks from Eino Keskitalo, Tuberz McGee and Sterlyng Powell and some good progress on my own title theme remix. We expect to see plenty of updates in the coming few days, so keep 'em coming! Also a friendly reminder to send in some track notes and sign the consent form when you submit your final mix. Looking forward to your final submissions and (hopefully soon) a release of a great new album!

  4. I try to listen to a wide variety of music, but generally what inspires me in terms of sound design is stuff by @big giant circles, @zircon, @Joshua Morse, and other people who have an established 'sound palette', because they have a distinctive set of sounds that emanate their essence, in such a way that you can tell when they've written a particular piece. That is, you listen to a piece by them, and can immediately identify it as theirs, because the sound design is memorable and innovative/unique/distinct. I've also found that as you actually try to make certain sounds, you start to feel more inspired by them more easily. I didn't like dubstep music about 2 years ago, but after designing a bunch of dubstep basses, it's one of my primary musical genres to write. You may find some ideas here in this playlist:

  5. I'm not familiar with the source tune, but I think this sounds very serene. 1:52-2:24 is probably my favorite part since I'm a sucker for a good violin solo. A shame the project was cancelled. You and your contributors did an excellent job on this track!

  8. So I'm trying to finish the Sonic 1 title/invincibility remix I'm making for the album. Because the 'Sega' voice intro is so prominent, I decided to add it, but give it my own spin. I thought it'd be cool to have multiple voices 'sing' this part to achieve a kind of choir effect in stead of just me and my bad singing voice. Here's a preview: http://www.jorito.net/files/sega/sega_full.mp3 So... anyone around willing & able to record his/her voice for a Sega choir like intro? You can find the 4 stems here: http://www.jorito.net/files/sega/.

  9. Update: A minor arm injury stopped me from finishing my track today, but I'm hoping it'll clear up in time for me to finish it up next week.

  11. It'd be weird NOT to wish the album well... so I do as well And I hope many artists choose to submit their arrangements here. An email will be forthcoming on the logistics of all of this.

  12. Just be mediocre at all of your instruments. Seems to work for me.
