  1. Cool! Looks like you've done some great work on some pretty neat looking games! For a 1 minute long presentation, its sad that the first 11 seconds are basically silent. This is actually a 46-second reel, not a minute! I will say that while the songs themselves sound good, you're not showing a lot of variety here. All of these tracks have similar instrumentation, speed, and rhythm. I'd like to see different genres and instrumentation. Because so far the only thing i get from this reel is that you do well with strings and and light, bouncy melodies. Unless I had a very specific need for that exact style, I wouldn't think this video would alert me as a game designer that you should be the composer. Great work tho and the games themselves look pretty cool! Congrats on the wonderful work you've done so far!

  2. Hey OC Remix community! I am still improving my production and composition skills with the little time that I dedicate to writing and producing. I am hoping that get some input that will help this remix be appropriate for submission! As a caveat, I do plan on recording a few classical instrument performances (I play the clarinet) and I will humanize the piece a lot when I near completion of the piece. I also have not "master mixed" the piece. However, I think that this piece is coming along nicely. I intended for this piece to mix classical with electronic elements (there are two synths). Phantasy Star IV's music does this well so I wanted to also incorporate that into this remix. I also am mashing two pieces of music into one remix because the first song I chose was a bit thin on length (content). The two pieces have a similar vibe and they are Requiem for Lutz and The Age of Fables. I would consider this approximately 55% done but that's a rough estimate. I don't know how much more can be done exactly but there are a number of ideas floating around in my head (got a head ache). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Download of the remix in progress: http://www.tonalbliss.com/music/displays/truthbetold_4.mp3 The two original tunes I'm basing my mix on on YouTube: https://youtu.be/uH-4DZWv5fI?list=PLirSddeMOYZ5E_9xpoTRYi3ksQmlFPdFL and https://youtu.be/afEQQhQajLE?list=PLirSddeMOYZ5E_9xpoTRYi3ksQmlFPdFL

  4. That's what she said It does, you also want to pay attention to the specific types of motion among the voices (rather than just simply creating inversions) and from this you can get into serious counterpoint territory. The sentence and period structures are classic ways of phrasing themes. Here's a good tutorial about them Sentence Structure, John Williams "Flight To NeverLand Theme": Period structure, John Williams "Anakin Theme"

  5. @Ophanin dished me TWO more wips, one for Grief (!!!!!!!!) and one for Prisoners of Fate! i cannot believe what he managed to do with 20 seconds of mitsuda noodling with a vox soundfont, it's a real standout. additionally, @Peíorele gave me some great news re: her track for Island of the Earth Dragon, and i'm excited to hear what she's got going on there. additionally, as of today, Dead Sea is available again. @Kat has been MIA for about five months and unfortunately that's just too long for me to keep the track saved. i'd be happy to use kat's wip again if they become available again but i need contact occasionally so i know what's up.

  6. i neglected to post that @Tuberz McGee and i are doing a powermetal arrangement of Scars of Time. no one'd picked it up and there's no chance i'm ignoring that one. basically, i rewrote it while thinking "what would dragonforce do?" the entire time, and the result was exactly what you'd expect. the arrangement's done and tuberz has the stems, so hopefully we'll have an update soon. also, with posting that, we are officially at 20 tracks claimed with a wip! i haven't heard from one or two people in some time so they may not make it, but we do currently have eight tracks done and four more that are either nearly done or just waiting on a collaborator to finish up, so we're in a great place for being not quite seven months in. i've updated the project title accordingly. i have also updated the first post with new guidelines for how to reserve a track, since now we're looking at track lengths and not going over for each disc's overall time.

  7. @Ophanin dished me a pretty much finished track already for Frozen Flame, and it's a real standout. can't wait to hear if he picks up the challenge i gave him in our PM conversation for a second track on one of three difficult songs. we're progressing well!

  8. Timaeus crushed it with the description of "frantic"; man, that's the best single-adjective description of a song I've read in months. This song is like one of those old push carts in an abandoned mine where the driver is barely keeping things under control and making decisions just in time at splits in the track as the cart careens drunkenly from rail to rail. Man, I REALLY like this - this song just keeps getting better as it goes along. Props for 3:12+ in particular, which I didn't see coming at all and really, really keeps you bouncing from enjoyable cut to enjoyable cut. Each section almost fights to get back into the lead. Wonderful!! What a great way to do justice to FF IX in its entirety. Serious props!!
