  1. I guess there's several people close to Nashville. I don't know if this is something anyone would want to travel many hours for. I know the con scene really is building something in Sevier County - the last few that happened here (and the only few in the history of the city) were considerably larger and better than anyone was expecting, but it's still reasonably small potatoes compared to other cons OCR has had a presence at. Part of why I think it would be cool to build that is Pigeon Forge is a center of music. It's country music - its where Dolly Parton built her theme park(s) after all, but there is a genuine music presence here that I think is finally ready to turn some sort of tide and allow some more nerd-friendly activities alongside the mainstream and family friendly bits. I would fear anyone who comes would get bored to tears before and after the panel. If you don't like minigolf, go karts, or Appalachian mountain activities, its slim pickins across the three cities. I love it personally, but I find I'm in a very awkward minority. :S
  2. Not really relevant to the topic, but the last I tried to fix a controller, it just fell apart in a depressing fashion and nothing I could do could put it back together. I'd always struggled with just the utmost basics of engineering since childhood due to my autism complex and I thought being a grown man I was now skilled enough to handle it, instead the end result just reinforced the inferiority. It was like, "It is confirmed, you're an idiot, and you will spend the rest of your life paying other people to do this stuff for you and then explaining to them why you're an idiot." And here we are. :S I'd really not try to bork another one and then force myself to buy a full replacement when I get what I actually want just replacing the stick. The rest of the control is Nintendo quality, the stick itself was not. I can just replace the stick and get the best of both.
  3. Two is better than one, DusK. Yeah, doesn't look like I'll get much interest for this. I might need to try a different approach or ask them to make an OCR presence part of something else. I would've studied panel presentations in the past if I thought I was ever going to be on one.
  4. Bonk 1, Valis II, Ys I, II and III, Fighting Street, Keith Courage, Final Zone II, Bloody Wolf, Neutopia and some other generic sports games and stuff.
  5. The anime/video game convention scene where I live is really starting to build, and today I got an extremely rare invitation to help build a GAME MUSIC/OCREMIX panel for an upcoming convention in Pigeon Forge, TN called MAGMACON that will be sometime in March 2014. I was asked to function as a panelist and help represent Ocremix by one of the local businesses that will be a major part of the con. An invitation like that doesn't come to me everyday and I would love to do so, but due to my autism, I cannot function as a sole panelist and representative, neither can I carry a spotlight by myself for a full hour. Therefore, I was asked to see if anyone else within range of East Tennessee would be interested in helping me present and represent game music and Ocremix. I don't think it will be a huge room, maybe 30 people or more, but thats still more than I can carry by myself. I have no experience doing this kind of thing before, and while I definitely want to do it (as I may never get this invitation again), I could use all the help I could get. I guess this thread is asking if anyone wants to join me on it and asking what do I need to do to represent OCREMIX appropriately?
  6. I tend to end up console collecting whether I want to or not. My best steal was a Turbografx 16, Turbo CD, 14 games, arcade stick and multitap, with original boxes, instructions and even coupons - $40 at a hayseed Sevierville Pawn Shop. I don't know how those games ever got to my neck of the woods in the first place, but they did and they're MINE now. >
  7. Just wanted to let everyone know that our interview with Kikuta is translated, complete, and awesome. Well worth the wait! The answers he gave back are extremely insightful, full of honesty and no pretense whatsoever, and one story about an AKAI synthesizer I almost don't believe. Great stuff to look forward to (or I thought so at least). Also, I've been in talks with a band called "The World Is Square" and they are quite interested in doing a track for us (they were recently released on SPECTRUM OF MANA). One track might open up because the .WAV file for it might have been permanently lost (waiting to hear back from one of the previous artists first), so I'm trying to get a replacement set up in the meantime. I know you guys are ravenous to get this bastard done and I'm working on it.
  8. Probably because you're the only person who's ever heard of it.
  9. I'm looking at it now, and it does not. Possibly I'm doing something wrong or its just not coming up for me. However, since you can obviously see it and corroborate, that's good enough for me.
  10. It looks like the same link. I think the humans and puppies are going to get the shaft no matter what I do. Also, where does this state I might win a copy of Juggernaut? It just says sign up to the newsletter to possibly win a sample library.
  11. Its good to see I'm not the only person who has to play games seasonally.
  12. GKworld.com used to have a bunch of cool (but possibly inauthentic) stuff, I don't think they do anymore. I got several soundtracks and a Chrono Cross clock from them. Still worth looking.
  13. Is that even still going on? I thought it was dead.
  14. Chrono Trigger is absolutely an Autumn type of game - from the actual in-game environments early on to the ambience the magical parts later on give off are very much parallel to the season.
  15. Oh man, I totally have a Halloween/Harvest Festival thing every October for my game playing. I developed a weird kinship thing out of the Autumn Smoky Mountain Appalachian atmosphere and games like Secret of Evermore. Reminds me of the good old days before I went totally batshit crazy. Not all my games are horror-themed but I typically try to get in any of the following: * Secret of Mana * Arcana (SNES) * Castlevania Dracula X * Super Castlevania IV * Zombies Ate my Neighbors * Ghoul Patrol (I don't care what anyone says, this game was as good as ZAMN) * Secret of Evermore * Breath of Fire I * Castlevania SOTN * Final Fantasy VI * Black Sigil * Chrono Trigger * Beyond Oasis * Resident Evil 4 * Super Ghouls and Ghosts * Robotrek * Fatal Fury SNES Only real requirements there (and I mean total aspie requirements) are Secret of Evermore, ZAMN, Ghoul Patrol and Super Castlevania IV.
  16. I was kinda worried at first, but actually I think both our projects will complement each other nicely. I think you actually did us a large favor by helping getting our ball rolling. Mana music fans will have quite a bit to rejoice about in the next little while. I also wanted to ask if there were any ways or ideas we could actually compliment each others' releases. No sense in thinking about competition when one could be thinking about cooperation instead.
  17. I can probably guess at least a few of you are wondering what to think of "Spectrum of Mana" coming out as we're nearing completion here. I'll admit it took me by surprise, I hadn't even heard of it until a week ago and my first thoughts were "Oh Lord, now people will think we're a bunch of Johnny-Come-Latelys, if they don't already know we've been working on this for years!" Honestly, though, as in the pure, self-centered context of what we're doing for Songs of Light and Darkness, this is probably a huge blessing. While Secret of Mana is undoubtedly the more popular of the two, SD3 has a sizable following as well, and I think Spectrum will very much get the ball rolling for interest in Seiken Densetsu projects. That was sort of a big fear for me once we got this thing done - I couldn't figure out the best way to get the ball rolling for it. In any case, I don't imagine many of you were thinking about it in terms of competition, but I figured Spectrum was getting enough attention lately that it was worth saying something on it for those who were. Now be a true Mana fan and support them for their release as I'm sure they'd be supporting ours.
  18. I'm trying to finish it myself. I'm at a penultimate dungeon of some sort and I just haven't found the right time and energy to finish it off.
  19. I'm just curious why you made another thread instead of announcing it on your other one.
  20. Thats fine, it's just a piece of plastic, and I have the awareness that the new thumbsticks are of better quality than the old ones. Its easier for me to replace for a third party part than a whole third party controller, y'see what I'm saying?
  21. Why would I buy another controller that has a 99% chance of having the same problem? And if I learned anything about N64 controllers in my day, is I don't trust anything less than the real deal. Knockoffs, in my experience, are particularly difficult for that system. A new thumbstick fixes the problem and still gives me Nintendo quality I can trust everywhere else on the controller.
  22. Necrobump, but I didn't know where else to ask. Does anyone on here do N64 controller repair? I need to get my thumbsticks replaced, and I swore I'd never tear open another controller after what happened last time.
