"Moving on" from OC ReMix (split from BGC apology)
Meteo Xavier replied to djpretzel's topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure if this is offtopic or anything, but if its true I make more than twice what actual working composers make at my day job (which I love), then I have to wonder what the point is. I guess I can feel considerably less jealous if I'm objectively benefiting more in my current situation than I would trying to reach for something I'll probably never get, but I can't even imagine that. What I make today just covers my wife and I and barely contributes to a good savings, I can't imagine working with much less just to pursue a dream of art. -
"Moving on" from OC ReMix (split from BGC apology)
Meteo Xavier replied to djpretzel's topic in General Discussion
I just wanted to point out it was not an intention of mine to mutate this issue as far as its gotten or keep this conversation going beyond offering favors in amends. This slipped out of my hands pretty quick. -
Well, the OTHER reason I'm asking is because it makes a difference if I try to lock myself out of this account again or not. Suffice to say, I rarely get more dignified options than self-destruction on a lot of occasions.

It couldn't have been more necessary. I'm a natural troublemaker. I'm a perpetually negative person with zero charisma who brings everyone else down for irrelevant reasons. Can't even buy success but can create disaster without batting an eye. If I was smart when I started out here, I would've kept my mouth shut and just submitted tracks, but I didn't do that. I'm aware I have a poor reputation on here and I did that being a troublemaker. I'm also aware I've played the Aspie card enough to know that the community and higher ups just barely tolerate me for that reason alone. If I didn't wear that card on my forehead, I'd be in the same room as Killer Studio Chops and Technomanga. Run out on a rail by a community that deserves better. Instead, you publish my remixes, album and get me a listing on VGdb for free and I take it for granted and be an asshole to people anyway. No other board on the internet would put up with that shit. I wouldn't, I'd tell yonder asshole to start giving back to the community if he wants to pretend his opinions are that important in the first place. I didn't think I'd be the first person I saw to do that, but here we are all the same.
-
I ain't here to defend myself, I'm here to make amends. Character, ego, words are all bullshit. What matters are actions, and if I'm that close to a ban, that means I owe the community here some real work.
-
I very much believe people who act like assholes in public should be required to apologize with great humility in public where everyone can see it, and I was an asshole today and I figured this would be a better place for that than the topic itself. I really am genuinely disturbed by previous OCR artists who only seem to return to the community when they need listeners or people to back their crowdfunders. I would like to see artists who use OCR as their market continue to provide music and regular posting to the community so that I feel like contributing $25-$100 to a friend, not someone who only sees me and you as dollar signs based on previous prestige. That was my intent behind my comment today. At the same time, my comment and sentiment was largely inspired by things completely irrelevant to the subject at hand, and that was most definitely wrong. That I will apologize for. I am told my next slip-up will result in a ban, and I will accept that consequence as well. It is now my policy to create actions in making amends for transgressions, and I feel this time I should go an extra mile and open the floor to the public reasonable requests for making amends, either to Jimmy, OCR, or I guess anyone for anything. Unfortunately all my money right now is locked down for an unrelated health-related thing coming up, but otherwise I am willing to pay other prices for this shameful behavior I have been exuding.

Former Nintendo President Hiroshi Yamauchi Passes Away at 85
Meteo Xavier replied to Mirby's topic in General Discussion
!!! I think nothing I see as a tribute for Yamauchi or anyone will top this. I haven't been this moved by music or effort in a long time. -
SNES soundfonts for commercial use
Meteo Xavier replied to Ayotom's topic in Music Composition & Production
Fred, it would be nice if you could both learn English better and improve your standard of posting. What does this even mean? Why do you even bother WHAT? Asking if something like using samples of game instruments that are not available commercially otherwise is legal is a perfectly reasonable question. What are you laughing at? Honestly, dude, this response is meaningless. A reasonable question deserves a reasonable answer. -
SNES soundfonts for commercial use
Meteo Xavier replied to Ayotom's topic in Music Composition & Production
There isn't a soundchip emulator because the SNES uses samples to generate sounds, not synthesis. Getting that SNES sound requires getting those exact samples one way or another. I would have thought SNES samples would count as not-really-legal, but others have made and sold SNES albums without any legal entanglements so it might be worth trying. -
This is different. Thank you very much for your patronage and your enthusiasm.

You've done well, my son.

Others gamers who AREN'T down with all game violence?
Meteo Xavier replied to Avatar of Justice's topic in General Discussion
What are "ignorant" people, exactly? We all count as ignorant people in different contexts. You're ignorant because you seem to think certain people should not have access to information simply because you consider them to not be as enlightened as you are (I don't really think that, I'm just using your logic for a point here). -

Hmm... I'll have to look back and see if I can find that in my messages somewhere. -

Meteo Xavier replied to Avatar of Justice's topic in General Discussion
I surely can't be the only person sick to bloody death of this overworn argument and the fact that we're not actually doing anything about it except flexing our intellects and egos. Can't we use this time and momentum to do something constructive about it? -

Dude, you'd have to be some sort of miracle-making sociopath to NOT have problems in helping people during the fucking Boston bombing. That comes with the territory of being human. Professionals can cope with it on the actual job, but off the clock, they're still shaking. -
I am finally the first American for something important - I'm the first American to own City In The Clouds! Seriously though, this album is master craftwork. This is literally nothing to hate on it and the amount of effort that went to create something that makes you appreciate the amount of effort that went into it (I almost wanted to be funny and spiral that sentence structure ) without being pretentious or overly elaborate is stunning. I'll be doing a detailed review of it later, but expect some high marks when I do. Go get this album if you're a Ghibli fan, it's awesome.

Others gamers who AREN'T down with all game violence?
Meteo Xavier replied to Avatar of Justice's topic in General Discussion
Bejeweled, Angry Birds, Farmville, Harvest Moon, Chrono Trigger, Tetris, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda and Pokemon are just a slim few of the gaming series that have huge followings without the need for uber violence. These games do sell for different reasons. What I can't stand about the violence debate in videogames is how bloody oversimplified its become. It's overprotective Moms saying ERMEHGERD GAMES TEACH ER CHILDREN HOW KERL while overaggressive and overdefensive gamers scream back OMFGLOLWUTSTFU GAMES DON'T TEACH CHILDREN TO KILL SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU RETARD YOU FUCKING FUCK. There is no one simplified reason children turn to psychotic violence and if they claim they shot up a school because a game made it look fun, then it IS, by definition, because of the game itself. The argument that games/media don't teach children to be violent is bullshit, but in a twist, that doesn't mean violence in media is responsible for it. The actual trigger for mass violence could be anything. Money, clothes, baseball cards, Winnie the Pooh, anything. There is no one item or one formula for children being unable to dissociate fantasy from reality, it requires very precise psychosis, circumstances, lack of parenting, biology, accesses and a lot more. But as human beings, we're all pretty ignorant and it's much easier to lay the blame on just thing or another for society's ills. So if it's not the games, than its the parents, or the guns, or the sex on TV, or religion, illogically simple answers to incredibly complex questions. And we wonder why this shit is still going on. -
Seiken Densetsu 3: Songs of Light and Darkness - History
Meteo Xavier replied to Usa's topic in Projects
I admin a page with close to 1,000 likes on it and $5 gets me between 3,600-5,000. Not sure if that is an indicator. They also go to friends of friends and such. -
Seiken Densetsu 3: Songs of Light and Darkness - History
Meteo Xavier replied to Usa's topic in Projects
Well, I don't think sponsored posts cost that much anymore. I've yet to do one myself but aren't they like $5 to start with? I don't mind rolling some of that if true. I think David or someone also does that, but I'll contribute a reasonable amount to it as well so all 40,000 fans get a chance to see it. -
Seiken Densetsu 3: Songs of Light and Darkness - History
Meteo Xavier replied to Usa's topic in Projects
I talked a large videogame fansite on Facebook into covering us once the album's released. I may see if I can finance a sponsor'd post through them to make sure all 16,000 of their fan base sees it. Hows your track comin' Rozo? Also, I talked to Jaka some time ago. He was abroad for college-related purposes over the Summer and he was in the middle of getting a new PC to finish up his work on here. I'm waiting to hear back from him again, but I probably won't need to wait too long. -

An OverClocked Christmas 2013 ~ Now Recruiting
Meteo Xavier replied to Dyne's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
If I have time and energy, I would like to contribute this year. I'll probably stick to something orchestral and original though, as that tends to be easier for me to do than a remix if thats ok. Edit: Any chance someone could help me with the mastering on it? I can mix good enough to get there, but I don't do mastering... -
I got my CD in yesterday and I can see why he needed $3,000 crowdfunding. The end product is NICE. I can't stand death metal and this CD fucking OWNS. One question, I did a modal, intentionally off-key synth solo on Track 7, but I think my imagination is playing tricks on me because it sounds to me like it's not aligned correctly or playing on time with the rest of the track. If true, that was my fault, but is anyone else hearing that?

Prog Music - Philosophy VS Actual Practice?
Meteo Xavier replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in Music Composition & Production
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95112&PN=1 Apparently I'm not the only one thinking about this. Maybe I have some hope after all.
