  1. Well, you really need to write them back first before talking to us, and I would think some of the questions should be obvious, but here is a starting place: 1. How many tracks do you need? 2. Can you send me some Youtube examples of what you're looking for? 3. When is the deadline for this project? 4. How do you need the files delivered to you? Do you need .WAVs or .AIFFs? 5. How much creative control are you willing to afford me? 6. What sort of gig is this? Are you compensating me with a percentage of sales or a lump sum payment? 7. Will you be taking care of any mastering expenses I may need to finish your soundtrack properly? That's usually my starting place. Sorry if you saw the previous confused post, I missed a vital part of the question.
  2. Nice birthday. CAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKEEEEEEE
  3. I don't usually post VST items for others to drool over, but this Hans Zimmer library sounds fucking awesome. I kinda wish I didn't already have a copious amount of ethnic and cinematic percussion that I suck at trying to make sound cinematic, because I so want this.
  4. It's still the general practice that you recommend the simpler or simplest of something when someone asks you for starting options. Beyond one's ability to grasp the gameplay (which, you're right, isn't that complicated in general) it also makes appreciating the other ones much easier. If you start with the best and most advanced, the other ones won't match up.
  5. What in God's holy na... NO. Look, there is a difference between "which game in a series should I start with" and "which game in a series is your favorite?". The two questions focus on different mechanics. It is foolish to recommend a game in a series that is one of the hardest and hardest to follow (FFT is both) and does not play like many others in a series. Final Fantasy is not a fully tactical series, so recommending a tactical version of the game as the first is goofy! FFIV and FFVI are the best starting choices because they are among the simplest to play, simplest to follow, and represent the core Final Fantasy experience at it's best. Each other one from that offers a unique deviation from that experience (yes, even FF1 could be considered a deviation, as it is still quite different from most other Final Fantasies today) that can only be truly appreciated once the core experience is first introduced. FFIV and FFVI are the best core experiences, and from there you can see how basic Final Fantasy tried to do Dragon Quest (FF1), SaGa (FF2), really started to get creative and refine some of their stuff into a more focused gameplay (FF3), introduced the best job system and a slew of secrets and side quests (FF5), tried to join the future and get out of the old era (FF7), tried to REALLY experiment with what they established (FF8), tried to fix that experiment with a mix of old and new (FF9), tried to say "Fuck it, let's just go forward" (FF10), tried to do MMO (FF11), tried to get into tactical rpg (FFT series) and tried to turn it into automated Secret of Mana (FFXII). I haven't played after that, so I don't know about any other ones. Sorry to go off on a tangent here (that is intended to be lighthearted all the same) but you people are really testing my aspie patience. Edit: That is not supposed to be shades there. That is supposed to be FF8.
  6. I don't recommend starting with the DS version of that either. That game gets EXTREMELY difficult much later, even for someone like me that has devoted much of his life to FFIV universe. Start with either a Final Fantasy II ROM for the SNES or the PSP Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection.
  7. XII is even worse to start with than X. Excellent game without question, but the gambit system can be really confusing for newcomers and the story is one of the hardest to follow in the series. I really don't think "basically wander around huge landscapes and auto-battle your way through the game" is the best representative of Final Fantasy either.
  8. Not in the final track? Why would you bother using them at all if you were just going to make it from scratch anyways?
  9. FFX is very far and away from the first Final Fantasy I'd recommend. It is way too complicated and all over the place for newcomers. A good game, but not one to start with. Final Fantasy IV is the best to start with. It is the simplest of the series and showcases the best the series has to offer without ruining one's appreciation of others. No complicated systems, easy to follow story, reasonable difficulty, and a well balanced foundation that other Final Fantasies (even the first one) will build upon.
  10. Do you truly dare to ruin both Christmas and Easter with your insanity!? Somewhere Jesus is spinning in his grave... >8V
  11. I just started a liquid DnB thing I might use for this project. Won't be too complex, just needs to be enjoyable and listenable.
  12. Well I personally would like to talk about why it seems very strongly like modern feminism focuses more on how virtual women are portrayed on a screen than how women who really are oppressed (Middle East, for example) are still living in oppression, but if I've learned anything from the last 10 times I tried to bring it up anywhere, it's that no one's really interested in talking about it.
  13. I'm curious, did you specifically choose that OCR shirt for the picture there or was that a coincidence? You also seem to lose more weight in every picture I see you post here.
  14. Websites gotta make money to operate just like everything else. The internet don't run fo' free.
  15. Speaking of quality control there, Oaks, where is your signature?
  16. I just want to chime in to say that neglecting school for whatever reason is not ok and can be highly damaging to one's pursuit of music, professionally or not. Always pursue an education and commit to it. Sorry, I just kinda felt like Angel's post there seems to be glamorizing truancy in favor of being an artist, and besides driving me nuts, that shit rarely works in real life.
  17. Not participating, just wanted to share my appreciation for those of you who are participating. Even in this day and age, it is of considerable generosity to give gifts to near total strangers online and I think you're exuding the real Christmas spirit. Godspeed all of you.
  18. I've yet to listen to this, but my hope is still we help stop people saying it sounds like "Strangers in Moscow" or whatever that Michael Jackson song is that everyone attributes it to and doesn't really sound like it at all.
  19. It bothers me that I'm one of the least weird people in this topic. Show some professionalism you hosers! >
  20. Like most people now reading this, I'd personally love to be interviewed, but I'm very far from a big hitter on Ocremix, so I'll instead contact BGC for you.
  21. http://thelegendaryzoltan.bandcamp.com/album/first-fantasy - and other RPGs as well. I'm on two of these tracks.
