Just wanted to put this out there before this turns into the obligatory Square-Enix hate thread. -

Awful Games In Awesome Series *SPOILERS AHOY!*
Meteo Xavier replied to Jax Mandrake's topic in General Discussion
I don't get the Mario Sunshine criticism. The only problem with that game was it took a little more effort to get into, you couldn't just turn it on and play like every other title there was. It was more challenging, it had a gimmick and it was ever slightly less accessible than Super Mario 64. That's literally all that was wrong with that game. Edit: And anyone who mentions Castlevania 64 can straight up eat my ass. That game was also far more criticized than it deserved for much of the same reason. Once you got a hang of it and got to some of the better levels, it was quite a meaty 3D game for the 64 and an interesting twist on Castlevania. Sorry to be negative on that but people who expect to fall in love with games barely 10 minutes into playing it piss me off with their whining. It's stupid to miss out on a good game because certain expectations were not met and it had an acquired taste. If you call yourself a gamer, put some fucking effort into it. ***us. -

Musically-Unskilled Programmer Seeks Musician
Meteo Xavier replied to Schilcote's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Some of these terms seem pretty loose and not confidence building. It's cool to do music for free, but why would anyone do music for a game that's outright stated might not even get finished? It also seems weird to audition for a project with no guarantee on it, which I guess is what you're asking us to do by posting a sample and seeing if you like it. -
I approve of this

Super Metroid: Fear Companion Soundtrack
Meteo Xavier replied to YukiKazami's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
I think the source material is going to lend itself to a lot of ambient stuff anyway, its just not limiting stuff that doesn't need to be limited. -
I know for a fact I'm not the only George Sanger/Team Fat fan around here, so I'm posting that he recently made some of his more notable soundtracks/albums available. I'm going to get his 7th Guest soundtrack "7/11" with my next paycheck myself. http://www.amazon.com/The-Fat-Man-and-Team-Fat/e/B000API86I/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1293049985&sr=8-1-spell Also worth checking out: http://vibedeck.com/thefatman-georgealistairsanger/surfcom--2 - I don't know if anyone knows this one, but it's a cool surf-rock/Russian-cossack-electronic soundtrack for a game he did on the 3DO. Check it out.

Super Metroid: Fear Companion Soundtrack

I've signed on for two tracks, so I'll be contributing as well. The problem was that the post makes it seem more confusing than it is, but the project itself is much simpler and therefore more fun than that. I'll be looking forward to it. -
Wouldn't the type of people that are still into serious Pen and Paper RPG kinda stuff just play real Pen and Paper RPGs? Honest to God, you people are literally going to run yourselves into premature death from poverty sponsoring every Kickstarter that gets posted.

Super Metroid: Fear Companion Soundtrack
Meteo Xavier replied to YukiKazami's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Yeah, that would be a step in the right direction. If you're advertising it as "Hey, if you download this hack, you get this sweet arrange-soundtrack with it!" that's a shitload better than how you made it sound at the forefront there. So, in that context, are we doing like OCR quality full remixes, or just sprucing them up? -

Sorry dude, not trying to be an asshole, but that's just dumb. Will you also be including a folder of updated graphics that you "wanted" to put in the game, but couldn't? A read me of text re-translations of the text you always wanted to see? To put into finer terms, you're asking players to enjoy the additional "bonus" soundtrack in the context of "Now, just imaging playing through Brinstar with THIS playing, instead of the SPC that's in there already because we couldn't figure out how to do it." That's what you're telling players, and it's somewhat ridiculous and it doesn't reflect well on you guys as programmers. And while that actually works in some contexts by itself, the problem here is you want a COMMUNITY to contribute to that. It goes back to my previous question - why would I spend a good deal of my time rearranging music for a game it won't actually be inside, instead only offered up as sort of an apology for your limitations as a programmer? Again, not trying to be an asshole there, but that really doesn't make much sense. -

Why would anyone work on a game soundtrack that isn't even going to be included in the game itself? I hope I'm missing something there, but it seems like all you're asking for is a remix album that will be of an inferior quality. -

It's not going to be in the game itself, but its expected to played alongside it? I don't understand. -
I want to build you a computer
Meteo Xavier replied to prophetik music's topic in General Discussion
Actually, yeah, I had a similar thing on mine from 3-4 years ago, whenever I bought it from Brad. My front microphone and headphone jacks don't work and for some reason the audio output is considerably more quiet than most machines, even at its highest. Still, I'll throw yet another recommendation for Brad's work. My machine is still kicking ass, yet I'm wondering if I need to upgrade the RAM here soon, and having only a dual-processor when everyone has quadra, octo or whatever is much better now kinda concerns me. I know diddly shit about how that stuff works and I need to look at upgrading the machine soon as opposed to buying a new one. Mine's quite fucking solid and I don't even really want to chance a new machine. -
Drum and Bass EP "FLOAT FOREVER" - TGH / Jamison Randall

I've also been thinking of getting into Drum and Bass and I want to buy this and use it as reference. What is "Liquid" DnB btw? -
People with Gaming Sites -- get advertising cash
Meteo Xavier replied to Brandon Strader's topic in General Discussion
It has to be an in-text advertisement? It can't be a box picture in a prominent corner of the site? I wouldn't mind a reasonable amount of hosting other ads, but that particular method seems more sleazy than others. I would not like to slip in an ad to confuse people into clicking it like that because it ruins the main point of whatever unrelated topic I was talking about. If they have other methods though I might be interested. What kind of web traffic do you need to get to qualify though? -
Well, you don't really need to get another system right at the launch anyway.
-
Then who should be the hardware company?

Alright, I can't find this anywhere and I'd like to just nip it in the ass. Whats this on an Earthbound HD? Is that happening somewhere or was that a rumor?

Because haters like to hate, that's what they do. They take a subject they're passionate about, enjoy it on the level of a consumer (and much less often as someone who's actually done it and an authority on it), and think they really know shit after doing it for a few years. Then they start getting butthurt when their fantasy world of said subject no longer runs parallel with reality and they make shit up and broadcast it as far as humanly possible to both stroke their own unearned egos and vent a childish grievance in lieu of coping with it like an adult. Average Gamer: ERMAHGERD NERNTERNDER Y U NO MAKE HERDCERR GERMES FER ME Nintendo: Well, if you had supported us better when we were struggling with the N64 and Gamecube, we wouldn't have to cater to children as our base. They gave us money, you didn't. Why would we spend millions of dollars in developing games for you if you're already telling us you're not going to buy our system? Average Gamer: DERP ITS NOT MY FAULT I DERN'T HAVE MERNEY - I GAVE IT ALL TO SONY That's a very simplistic way of how I see it anyway. Point I'm trying to make is, if you hardcore gamers are just going to blow your money on PS3 and XBOX and PC anyway, what the fuck do you care what Nintendo does? They don't owe you shit. You had the chance to direct their focus to you and you didn't do it. You're lucky they're offering what they're offering now.

This is the big red flag to me in your post - if you want to clear up any confusion, why refuse to post further on it for people like me who would have follow up questions for this? I myself pose this question without expecting an answer, but if we're all doing the fairness-and-transparency dance, then everyone needs to take a turn.
