  1. We need to stop doing behemoth projects with strict genre guidelines anyway. It sounds awesome on paper, but from my experience in trying to work on one, it doesn't reflect reality or help it progress. At some point artistic direction has to reflect what people are going to actually want to listen to, otherwise a shitload of time, effort and resources are likely wasted - for a community like this, dedicated though we are, it is not reflective of reality. I personally think project album should be capped at 15-18 tracks or single CD album projects that focus on the more on the tracks listeners are going to actually flock to with about 25% attention on neglected tracks (or a sortof medley of them, because its nice to count them, but there's a reason they're neglected in the first place). Albums should also be a good way to invite new blood into the community. What I did with SD3 once we've exercised all the available remixers of interest was to start looking elsewhere. Youtube gets a lot of crap for having horrible remixes on it, but I've found several excellent willing artists (Archangel being one of them) who have agreed to come on board. Another good one was Gamedev.net - I found several excellent composers who were looking for work and looking for ways to get their skills out there - 2+2 = 4. That's a great way to kill four birds with one stone. I know few if any are going to listen to me (and this topic is getting pretty derailed now), but if you're looking for decent, logical ways to improve the Project system on this community, those are some good starts.
  2. On that note, were you ever able to get "Oh I'm a Flamelet" polished up and exported to .WAV?
  3. But hopefully you're old enough to understand sarcasm on the internet.
  4. Have you been on the internet long? History has shown people will do all kinds of outrageously awful things with the mask of anonymity just because they can. The internet has been the playground for that kind of behavior for two decades and running. Could be any kind of combination of company employees, copyright sphincters, scorned submitters, dickheads, proletariat, occupy OCR protesters, debt consolidators, out-of-work lead saxophone players from 1985, sentient human embryos, imprisoned Nigerian royalty, desperate housewives, juggalos and Bill Watterson making things a mess for us. These people exist, and they are threatening OCR's way of life.
  5. You shouldn't worry too much about the same fonts getting used. It's become and continues to become more and more the standard for highly recognizable fonts to be used in all kinds of commercial products. It's about to drive me batshit crazy, personally, but thats counter-intuitive to my point. Don't mess with a working system. And ***dammit, I can't find a metal bass guitar image I can legally use to save my life...
  6. I don't record, so I wouldn't be able to tell you straight up. All I know is I could barely hear it, but I really liked what I did hear.
  7. So is there a FFVI project or isn't there?
  8. Consent should never be implied. Better you learn that in writing than with experience... I'm going to hit some people up again for a status update, so some of you with unblue tracks may expect an email from me in the next few days.
  9. Recording's pretty weak, but ***damn that guitar playing is exactly what I'm looking for when I look for a guitarist! I'll definitely keep your name on file as I'm sure I could find use for something like this. Whats your email address?
  10. Something as big as FFVI would more than likely be announced and not one of Morse's secret surprise album projects. I'm not sure, did OCR lift the project freeze from last year? I want to say Bahamut announced he was trying to start a FFVI project with the other 9 he was trying to get into just before he shipped out, but projects around here get so messy its really hard to tell.
  11. IIRC, there had been talks of it at one point (its about the most obvious choice for an OCR project ever), but as nearly every track on there has been covered, some to ad nauseum, it was deemed that an OCR project for it would be redundant. That's my understanding anyway.
  12. I definitely enjoyed it, but my lord I wanted to hear some cool lead-saw shredding over some of the later passages to help break it up some more. That's my only crit. I got a fever, and the only prescription is more LEAD, authorized by Dr. Robert Moog.
  13. I'd drink to this if my body could handle alcohol.
  14. Got some recorded examples of your playing style, do you? I know a guy looking for some guitar work on an SD3 track, so I'm interested to hear how good you are.
  15. I expected something about Batman. There is no Batman in this game. *SPOILER ALERT* There is no Batman in this game. /*SPOILER ALERT*
  16. Howdy. I'm posting this on behalf of the guy who commissioned me to do the soundtrack for it, but we've got a game that is hugely finished up and the artist we had for it is not working on it anymore. Naturally, we need a new one. The game is a Tower Defense kinda game for the Android. I don't know or remember the title off the top of my head, but pretty much ALL the programming and work, as I've been told, is finished, he just needs new sprite work and interface to put on it. This is a "possibly" paid gig, where, realistically, $ cannot be guaranteed as income would need to be generated first. If so, you would be getting a % of the profits. I myself am not getting paid for this project and I'm cool with that. The good news is that, unlike so many other gaming projects on here, a lot of the grunt work is already done - this is not start up work and therefore this game has a much higher chance of being released once the artwork end has been finished. If you're interested, hit me up here or email zendrums@gmail.com. Thank you!
  17. The only thing to really bitch about the DS remakes were the horrible, HORRIBLE, pre-N64 graphics. I could barely even see them they were so bad. Rest of the games were just fine though. I about gave up on FFIVDS because of the difficulty, but there was one slight little change in the ending, just one TINY little change of a few seconds that, to me, made it all worth it. I can't say the same thing about anything else ever, so that was special. Offoptic, yeah, but I don't really care about PS3 or Vita, so thats what I'm offering.
  18. I'm getting some Actraiser vibes from that description.
  19. I work at a marketing company and today I am checking and confirming our list of clients we have on Google accounts - logins and passwords, and a huge number of them, including my own personal Gmail account, had been disabled - mine seemed to give me the disabled message in error. I've yet to get to the real bottom of this, but it made me think of OCR's predicament. As Google has been updating so much of their stuff lately, I'm wondering if there are some errors going around. I'm pretty sure thats not what's going on here, but something I thought to share as it might be relevant.
  20. I disagree, it's just as impactful nowadays to find MIDIs of songs you really like and can now study in your DAWs to see how they work and come together. I also dare say there are still MIDIs out there that actually, somehow, sound even better than the source material - not to mention it's arguably easier to remix in MIDI so sometimes you find some good MIDI remixes of stuff too. I think it's always good and impactful to hear a different version of a song you really like, no matter what the version is.
  21. Indeed, I call bullshit on that. Silent Protagonists are a huge and timeless foundation of video games. It's hard to hate someone who doesn't whine and say the wrong thing.
  22. Monobrow's been doing pixel art as of late. Hit her up and make a nice offer.
