PETA says new Mario promotes wearing fur
Meteo Xavier replied to Soul Splint's topic in General Discussion
Rationality in its primary base isn't just the idea alone, the extension of that idea counts too. An idea doesn't do anything by itself until it's implemented. It doesn't matter what it looks like on paper if whats going to happen in real life makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with you (not YOU personally, the royal you, the editorial.../TheDude). Any way, getting off track there. Point is they're genuinely crazy dicks who should be slapped one at a time with bloodied sides of beef and while we scream "This cow died for your sins! Repay the favor!" That'll learn'em to be rational! > -

If there was a semblance of rational basis here, this topic I'm posting this response in wouldn't exist. -
PETA says new Mario promotes wearing fur
Meteo Xavier replied to Soul Splint's topic in General Discussion
Who the fuck cares what PETA has to say these days anyway? They're the left-wing equivalent of Westboro and that's all they should amount to. Nintendo shouldn't have to respond to their bullshit other than to thank them for free publicity. -
I'm just waiting for this to turn into a Final Fantasy debate. Also, FFVII's story was not inferior at all - it's just now it's so well-played out now and relies on different strengths than the others that people debate on it. At the time, it was pretty experimental and kick-ass to build so much of the story onto a single twist that few would've saw coming. Now you're just not internet 1337 enough until you're bashing FFVII as overplayed. FFIX deserves a mention, if not that it doesn't break a lot of new ground but just that it was probably the most well-written and consistent in recent memory - up until the last dungeon at least...

I'm the first to mention Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. I'll also mention FFVII. Because there's a reason millions of gamers took heart to Aeris's death and it's not just gamer eliti-cynism.

DAMN this project got kicked up super quick. I really wish my schedule would've allowed this, I would've loved to take part.

You have to compete with Likes? Ugh, I don't like the sound of that. I put a like in for you. I hope more on here can because it's a simple 5-seconds-of-your-time request. If you're looking to continue posting elsewhere, and you should, you should rethink your request headline. "Help me win $2,500!" comes off like "Take your time to help me win money you could really use but won't see a shiny red penny of or probably even get a thank you for!" Instead, try something like "Need help with jingle contest - only need 5 seconds of your time." That's not the best one I could come up with, but something more humble that doesn't mention how much money in the headline. If you wanted to take it a step further - offer to donate a portion of that $2,500 back to the website/community you're on. For example, offering $200 here to OCR if you win I think would definitely help endear more people to your cause. Just some thoughts to help you win. Good luck!

Now you're posting like a winner! That actually sounds really useful and I'd like to try it out when I have some time to. Thank you programing it for us Fred. -

I saw something in it the other day, but I know his site has been hacked/attacked before and I thought Google still thought it was doing that or something.

Official Sonic Generations Thread
Meteo Xavier replied to SonicThHedgog's topic in General Discussion
With that attitude in mind, it's surprising you found something to enjoy in it at all. -
This is not a helpful response and it begs the question of why you posted it in the first place. Please post useful responses. To the topic creator: you might get some more responses if you posted more details of what it is you're looking for in text rather than let Youtube videos and links with sound/video do the talking for you. The reason for this is a lot of us get on these topics during work where we can see the text but not look up the videos/sound. Another good idea would be a better idea of the "time crunch". When is the deadline exactly? Finally, if you haven't posted this in KVR or Machinima boards, that would be a good idea too. A lot of posters/remixers here, at least from what I've seen, don't usually take up jobs that don't have a strong compensation element in place. Those boards might provide some more opportunities. Sorry to mini-mod, but my God it drives me nuts to see an ignored topic where the only response is "Hey, I can't help you but I'm posting anyway. Good luck and now I punctuate with a childish emoticon!". Certainly we can afford to be more helpful than that.

As I dive deeper into properly learning electronic/beat driven music, one thing I'd love to learn how to do is be able to do that crazy acid synth lead riff that I hear in so many old breakbeat tracks. This Crystal Method track has probably the best example I can come up with what I want to learn to do: , between 2:11 and 2:41.What is it you automate to make it do crazy FX sounding stuff like that? Seems like something's going on in there but I don't have the production cred to figure it out. Thank you!

Seiken Densetsu 3: Songs of Light and Darkness - History
Meteo Xavier replied to Usa's topic in Projects
You probably just have too many instruments. If mixing doesn't help, then it's the arrangement you need to fix. Sometimes you have to cut back and trust that it's going to achieve the sound you're going for (especially if you're working in a frustrated self-critical mode which is highly detrimental to confidence and, eventually, the song itself). -

To put a better clarification on what Theo's talking about, I talked with him privately and listened to his version of The Sacrifice Part II - thought the arrangement was fine as is. The source track itself is so weird, in my opinion, that it's almost impossible for me or us to judge it as anything other than a kick-ass somewhat novelty track (hell, thats all the source IS), instead of trying to see where it fits in the album or as a postable Ocremix. It's just a weird track that requires some creativity to balance what can WORK and what is POTENTIAL. So I figured we'd get one of both. I asked him to send me a better mixed version of what he has now, and said if he wanted to continue on with it as his time and energy permits, he could do that too and sub it out. Either way, we end up with a track that works in general. I just wanted to clarify that in case there was confusion. I'm very f'n tired of tracks on here not being complete when they're so damn close it hurts, so it's time to get creative and get more finished tracks in. -

Are you a lyricist as well, are do we need to do that and coordinate it? I'm a pretty decent writer but I've never coordinated notes with words before. -

Maybe you should co-ordinate with me and I will pad the responses so that when you have an update, it will appear at the top. -

Rozo, I just got in touch with Theophany on The Sacrifice Part II and he gave me the low down on his mix for it. Let's put his back up in the purple because, as far as I'm concerned, the arrangement is pretty killer as is at the moment though he wants to do some more with it. It just needs more mixing and some attention to the samples, but it's a purple as far as I'm concerned. We should have more progress there in a couple weeks or so. -

There is a chance I might try for a drums/percussion/effects only remix of The Sacrifice Part II. We just need to see what my schedule and energy level will be like for the next little while, but I might try for it. -
This message is so wrong I need to protest. First of all, hatin' on McDonalds is pretty pedestrian in and of itself (because, of course, we should be a nation of gassy, organic vegetarians with grocery budgets that are outside the realm of reality otherwise the Germans will make fun of us for being fat), but to bash McDonalds and its "shitty" food for another fast food joint is ridiculous. And then the crowning moment of UGHHHHHHH... is recommending Five Guys Burger and Fries. Fuck Five Guys. You know what Five Guys is? It's Wendys that somehow got away with entrancing a fan base into paying $4.50 for a regular hamburger with too much ketchup and $2.50 for a coke. You pay $11+ for what you could get at Wendy's for $4 or less, and then they have the nerve to present it super stripped down in terms of decor (unless they're posting newspaper articles kissing their ass) so it makes someone wonder where the hell all that mark up is going. The only thing you're paying that extra for at Five Guys is so you can say, "I eat at Five Guys, not that shitty McDonalds! Yupyupyupyupyup!" Sorry to be so incensed, but we're in a ***damn recession, ***dammit. It makes NO sense and then you have the balls to look down at others for their fast food preferences. Egregious! You deserve to lose your house to the bank if that's your idea of financial logic. The rest of my message here dissolves into a screaming, Chinese, Jimmy Stewart rant, but hopefully I got my point across without that by now anyway.
