  1. I don't have a guitar doing the rhythm. I couldn't get one in there, so I focused on trying to make it the sort of guitar-less prog track with what I had available. I'm pretty confused by some of what you're suggesting. The mix itself is already pretty wide IMO and there are instruments panned to one side and the other. Making it wider I'm afraid would make it too hot as FL Studio seems to indicate. I'm also pretty confused on how its getting too conservative a mix. I've highly varied up most of the recognizable tunes and changed up the structure and many of the chords of the song quite a bit while still keeping the recognizable stuff in tact. As far as the comment with the bass - do you mean replace it with samples of a "real" bass or get someone to record a real bass for it? I'm already using Kontakt 4's Funk Bass (And Kontakt's "Real Bass" for bottom end) and I have no way of getting someone to actually perform it. The rest I plan to update in the final version. I'm aware the synths need some modulation and the drum parts need more fills - I'm not there yet. Boosting the highs is a pretty good idea and I do mean to have strings come in later. The EQ will also be worked with some more in the final stages (I don't plan to master this myself, I'm just getting it to a stage where it could be mastered). Right now I'm mostly just concerned that it sounds energetic and like-able enough and that the transitions look like they may work with little bits of tweaking. I'm not trying to be difficult or anything, but I have to admit many of those notes didn't make much sense to me.
  2. I'm still waiting to find out how you can do pitch bend in the same category as CC#11 and Modulation. Seriously, I could get a lot done if I could just figure out how to automate that the same as the others.
  3. Ooh shit, my bad. Now the source is posted.
  4. I have never agreed with Tensei more than right now.
  5. I posted an updated version - I would like to get some feedback on this if at all possible, this track I'm doing stuff I haven't done in a remix before and I want to see if I'm doing it right. Thank you!
  6. If absolutely every hates everything on the radio or in mainstream music as they claim to (because its pretty much the first requirement these days for anyone who enjoys music more than a casual level), how do they know what all is playing on the radio to hate? Or why are they listening to it at all? On my list of things I really mean to study on a scientific level someday is to find out these cultural HATRED of "Mainstream" music and stuff that's "played on the radio." Because it can't just be an issue of quality.
  7. Man, I wish I had more access to anime back in the 80s and early 90s before it started getting more digital looking. I love just about all anime that comes my way, but I get something oddly... religious... watching anime, particularly like STEREOTYPICAL anime, from the era of AKIRA, IRIA, Wrath of the Ninja, Project A-ko, Toward the Terra and the lot. It almost feels like my destiny to absorb any and all of the anime from that era to the point where I'm not greatly proud admitting it in public. I don't understand it but I understand your viewpoint here and I couldn't agree more.
  8. I'm not worried. If the government really wanted to bill every one $150,000 and harass people, all they have to do is search Google or go to Galbadia Hotel or something. Sometimes people do get fined for it, but, hell, many of us here openly admit to piracy or have at some point - why weren't we fined in the last 10 years? I'm not trying to defend Big Brother, I'm just trying to squash out unnecessary stress and fear-mongering everytime the guvment does something getting the counter-culture's Paul Revere screaming BIG BROTHER BIG BROTHER BIG BROTHER!
  9. Here's the source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YhleGWRIds I was able to get a MIDI of Dr. Mad's Castle 3 from Rokko-chan from a generous Youtuber and I started work on what I hope will be a sort of non-guitar Progressive rock remix of it. I was inspired by Motoi Sakuraba's live stuff although this sounds almost nothing like it. http://tindeck.com/listen/ttfj - the first half I'm fairly satisfied with, but the second half of this WIP so far is pretty messy. I haven't done a lot that I need to do with it yet (I'm still building ideas and the structure), but I can't tell if this is sounding awesome or just messy. A lot of transitions aren't in place yet and you can tell by the second half I'm just fucking around trying to find stuff that might work. I guess what I really want to know is - am I even getting close to a decent remix? This one's not been very easy and even though I'm getting better at it in general, this one has been pretty messy. I'm committed to not repeating the same mistakes I've made with my other remixes and turning in a much better one to the Judges, I just want to know if it looks like this one could work. Thank you!
  10. Fool me last 14 installments, shame on you. Fool me last 15 installments including this upcoming one, shame on me.
  11. Some of us just don't have it to learn it by ear. It's not a shame. I use a MIDI every time I try a remix.
  12. http://tindeck.com/listen/kdvw - this is a song by Ghetto Lee Lewis from his "Rainless Days" album. He sent me a MIDI of his performance and for fun I applied my EW Pianos Gold samples to it. That would be one I'd recommend.
  13. Speaking of double standards - by your logic you should be much more understanding to these viewers. They are just children too. I have still yet to see Eva. I don't know to be ashamed of that or not.
  14. Howdy - on Zebra I have four X/Y pads for which to automate, but I seem to be having a lot of trouble getting FL Studio to do it. 1. How do you get Zebra 2 to automate one X/Y pad with automations for X and Y at the same time? I've been using its "Midilearn X" and "Midilearn Y" and automating it through MIDI CC# 1 and 2. I kinda got it to work, but I still don't really know how I did it. It only seems to work if I have it learn Midilearn while it's playing. Nothing else seems to be consistent and its bothering me. 2. How do I get multiple X/Y Pads to go at the same time? Like if I want to do Filter X/Y and Attack/Release in the same patch? Do I keep assigning it different CC# numbers or how do I do that? Thank you!
  15. My goal was to get the Ocremixer status because, when I started out some 3-5 years ago, it was still an internet badge of honor amongst the video game culture. Frankly, I needed the status symbol.
  16. Hmm... not bad. I've been looking for some solid trance kicks and the price here isn't too bad at all. I may take up on it. You should make up some more MP3 demos though for the FX loops and some of the other things this product offers. I feel like I got a good idea what the trance kicks sound like, but thats it.
  17. Joke's getting kinda old now, but if it's to go out with a bang, this is it. Excellent box art Aster, you totally nailed the execution.
  18. Exactly - this isn't a Hip-hop hate thread, it's about plagiarism. His was neither. Neither! NEITHER!
  19. For various reasons, I stayed either in background or hidden in plain sight at MAGfest, but I did get to meet some of you and I did have fun out there. Those of you I got to have fun with, thank you very much.
  20. You all don't even know I'm at MAGfest, do you?
  21. You've had people already work up a track BEFORE they emailed you and expected you to buy it at their price? What kind of idiot does that? You were right to turn them down. They have no business being in the music business. EDIT: My bad, I didn't see you had a Youtube example already.
  22. K240S is $100 or less right now IIRC. I saw a pair for sale on Amazon.com last month, new from the main store, at $70 or so.
