  1. ***dammit, this is what I was trying to avoid. You didn't mention me by name did you?
  2. My experience with big companies are they're impossible to get a hold of, and even if you do, business these days will copyright the vagrant dog shit on the lawn of their accounting office if they think it protects their brand, so even if it's perfectly legal, I will get a resounding NO and they will know to look for me to do it anyway.
  3. May I frame this post as the craziest I'm likely to see on here for months to come? Still not quite sure what everyone's LOLigagging about, this topic seems pretty civil right now.
  4. It's relatively small, Lutheran, and filled with old people, but that's ok, these people aren't rubes. They've known me for 23 years and if they didn't have a problem with me showing up one day with a Japanese bride without ever showing a hint of heterosexuality to them before, they'd be cool with this too. I'm well aware a chiptune prog album of hymns is a pretty strange idea for a relatively conservative base - that's the point. I love to shatter expectations and if I can get the album done ok, I don't see a downside to this idea at all - past the question that made this discussion possible in the first place that. And as for that, yes, Orlouge, these sound effects are purely going to be used only as atmosphere or percussion. No part of the compositions from the game would be featured at all - just SFX for atmosphere and percussion.
  5. I watched the VGAs and I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks about that. Actually, no I didn't, but the principle is still the same. An actual action Metal Gear game? This I have to see...
  6. I'd definitely appreciate it, Or. Thank you!
  7. So basically you're just another fresh-outta-whatever composer using our website to score some gigs and contribute nothing to the community. Dude, that's not what this forum is for. It's RECRUIT AND COLLABORATE not FREE AD SPACE HERE. This isn't a hangout spot for indie game-makers begging to shove $ down your pockets for music (we wish), this is a hangout spot for indie composers doing what we love largely for free and growing and contributing to the video game communities. Read the FAQs for proper board usage before posting please. If you want to show off your stuff, BUY ad space here or contribute to the community and put your links in your signature as the rest of us do. Please do not sell ice to eskimos - that's not what this forum is for.
  8. Kinda defeats the point of community discussion but ok.
  9. I mean like if I wanted to use ripped Mega Man chiptune SFX or the SFX from the NES Zelda games in these tracks.
  10. Here's a rather interesting question I've yet to see on the subject of music copyright in our corners and circles and I thought it might be of interest to the community. A couple months ago I had this idea for an album I wanted to do down the road - I am interested to do a chiptune prog-rock style arrange album of old church hymns and donate it as a product commodity to my church as something that can generate revenue directly to their donation/offering books. In other words - make up a church bandcamp page, print some out for sale at $5.99 each to be next to the bulletins - each $5.99 purchase is 100% donation to the church. The problem I run into then is that I don't do 8-bit SFX engineering and I like to supplement my 8bit tracks with famous chiptune SFX (Mega Man, Zelda, etc.) and then question comes to mind: Is it copyright infringement to use chiptune SFX on an album designed to generate revenue as a donation to a religious entity? I guess the main reason I ask is because I'm curious on how copyright stuff like that works in the context of donation and thought the community might like to know as well. I can always go without using SFX, but I'd like to know all the same. Thank you!
  11. I'm totally not liking where these polls are going. I'm design my own OCR shirt in protest.
  12. There is nothing about this track I don't like. Except for the super loud thunder storms. Turn those down. That was creative and hilarious, awesome job.
  13. That's nearly every game you all are playing now, what difference does it make? I think the fact that Mario takes the same formula and still makes incredible game after incredible game with it is an astounding testament and key to its quality. It keeps the foundation every one is familiar and good with and writes new stuff on top of it. When you have that working for you, no one's going to be stupid enough to screw with it. They tried that to some effect in Sunshine and look what happened (I'm playing Sunshine now and wow is it an underrated game).
  14. Is this another one of those cases where "excellent" is not good enough? That even if a game in a series is still a mile above average in general quality, it's still worthy of a "serious gamer's" unbridled ire like the explosive diarrhea of Mt. Rectum if it just doesn't quite hit the same ridiculously high standard of an era gone by? Why yes, I think it is. You people who bitch about Land 3D need to reacquaint yourselves with what a bad game really is.
  15. Fixed because oh my god I about had a serious ragedump stroke.
  16. I could stand some more reviews. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01790/ http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02231/ This is so I can output more qualitatively.
  17. I thought that at first, but I was confused why there was a minus sign in front of it. I've never seen an OCR panel before - when do people stuff their money down your shirt?
  18. Someone stole money out of your shirt during a panel?
  19. If I could record properly, I could do all 12 and finish it for ya. Course that wouldn't be fair to others, but I ain't obstacled by the sound of my voice.
  20. It is good manners and we should employ a round of applause that this one had the manners to ask first. You don't see that often in this day and age. I applaud.
