  1. The only one I know at these boards who still uses Logic 5 is analoq. Due to the fact that it is still "Windows", you have access to tons of freeware and cheap tools who're as good as "new bundle deals". If you feel more comfortable mixing with it, and you can get it fairly cheap, I'd use it. Mastering is still a job for Wavelab and Sequoia however.
  2. For CD quality mixes, does it really matter if its 16 or 24? If you work with effects anyway, and the internal mixing engine works on a 32bit floating point base, who cares. The stuff is dithered down so the "bits" were fully used with information anyway.
  3. Oh excuse us for not being walking encyclopedias!
  4. Don't expect AKAI to go higher than 44kHz/16bit. Unlessthe 5000 format was 24bit (which I'm sure it wasn't) - wasn't that much into AKAI. But 44kHz/16bit was the limit. You can expect more with GIGA, but this is a complete different world.
  5. AKAI CDs are a specific file format with program patches linked to WAV files. Old Hardware didn't work like Windows or Mac OS now, but had an own OS system. So nothing is "packed", it's just a different disk format. A little bit of research would have spared you your section question, too. There're cheaper tools available for "converting" or even "loading AKAI" natively. Though you need to keep in mind that there're different AKAI formats existing: 1000 up to 5000 if I can still remember. But most samplepacks are in either 1000 or 3000. Here are some hints: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1351.html http://www.kvraudio.com/get/66.html http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1388.html http://www.kvraudio.com/get/198.html There was another native VSTi that even looked like an AKAI sampler, but I can't find that anymore, and it cost a bit. Well I use Halion anyway so no need for that.
  6. Maybe WIDI-Soft? http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2109.html But don't expect anything. This tool doesn't find everything. I had my probs with a piano playing chords and detailed melodies. Or you mean "celemony Melodine", but that can't convert into MIDI afaik.
  7. What's so different anyway? Both formats (AKAI/ROLAND) use WAV or AIFF as core format. Only the CD tree differs, and the way you access them. I'd understand it if you'd say that about GIGA and AKAI, but else, no.
  8. Samplers like Halion and Kontakt can load Roland/AKAI/EMU samples without problems. Else you need either a converter (like CDXTract) or a sampler that supports either one of those formats. And yeah, even though a lot looked tasty (the PMI stuff), I don't have the money, else I'd have paid with paypal, but paypal doesn't exist. You can count me in to the people who bought the QL Brass (as addon to my Siedlaczek Complete pack), the Ultimate Piano Collection and a noise CD (Audio) for like 10bucks. I speculated with the PMI stuff too, the Percussive Adventures (though Stylus is hot as shit, so no need for that) and one or two other packs (like Ultimate Strings, but I have Siedlaczek CCC and will try to get either Kontakt 2, Siedlaczek Strings or Halion Orchestra for 250bucks as upgrade). But like I said, no money. I mean... the friggin shipping to germany costs 22,95USD! And german taxes will be added too. Fun times indeed.
  9. Saving up a lot of money, don't buy stuff for at least half a year (counts to saving) and keep an eye out for used stuff (hardware, sequencers, etc) and of course "discounts". Or your're lucky to be a friend of somebody who throws out stuff from his/her studio. And like OverCoat said: Free stuff. Don't listen to so called "Pro's" that Free Stuff is crap, cause you can find a ton of highend material for free or pocket money. You just have to be patient and need a bit of endurance while looking and testing.
  10. Who the hell are you to call for a "lock" if we didn't even have the question/answer before. Just because it was answered on a different board and we don't have a clue "at the moment" means you can call the mods useless and start "self modding" the boards!
  11. Actually, no. analoq uses Logic, since before it was bought by Apple and then renamed into "Logic Pro".
  12. Shit I'm a guitar player, I have two guitars! *but I can`t play them!* Damn I'm smooth.
  13. http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=30451 Read and lock please.
  14. I will never trade my K2000 in, not even for a K2600 (okay, maybe cause it has weighted keys, but only if I can get a K2000R and K2500R for dirt cheap). And my Proteus Racks? Can hardly wait till EMU releases their new USB MIDI Hub bundled with the Proteus X2, then I'll add the Terratec Komplexer (has the "micro Q" built in) and maybe Novation with the Bass-Station or the impOSCar - then I'm stuffed with synths. Like I said... I should really take a look at the Muse Research Receptor. But first I need some money. Mo' pics, less equipment lists!
  15. The lower half of your Kurzweil K2K looks so new (compared to mine), djlc. DId you get a new cover after the OS3.x upgrade? And did I already say (I guess I did in the old thread) that I envy you? You still got the Roland XV5050. It got discontinued all of a sudden andI don't want to get the XV2080 (8,5" racks are just not my thing). Then again... I got so much software synth material lately, I'd rather spend more money on a Receptor. XD
  16. www.studio-compyfox.de/torrent Best source available, but seeders needed.
  17. Ah okay... and can we get that one more time, but this time "color inverted", please? Thanks.
  18. Before this one falls off the boards, yet another bump. Also... LARRY ANSWER MY EMAIL (I know you read PMs and Emails, but you don't answer - without shows, no torrents!). cheers.
  19. Sounds like a fair deal. Then you only have to mix the vocals "in" your PC. Like EQ and compression. And... was cabinet not correct? You know I always get these things wrong.
  20. Rode is a must for vocals, at least so the "industry" says. Get a decent plosive shield for it, and set it up in a good and quiet position. Like already mentioned, it's basicly a vocal mic. Well the other mics are dynamics, right? Why not use them to mic your amp (and use the Rode as backup like 1,5-2m away from the cabinet)? Just as hint, but keep an eye on the phases of the signal, else you run into trouble. The rest is really up to you, what you aim for, etc. Like I also mentioned earlier.
  21. Afaik it was in one of the last issues. That means, there`s no "free link" available on their page yet, only for registered users. Dunno if SoS USA covers the same topics as the UK version.
