  1. Awesome man, definitley need some bones, and a bass bone would be killer. I dont think I'll actually find enough bones on the net to be able to audition, but it would be nice to hear anything of yours if you have anything!
  2. In regards to source material, I think it uses a decent amount, not alot, not to little. Lots of interesting ideas here, I just think they could be organized better, as the piece seems to have way to many highs and lows.
  3. Hey AndyP, yes Fishy was mentioning someone by your name who played some jazz guitar. Would you be able to PM me with some samples? That would be awesome. Thanks!
  4. This track is absolutley awesome. I'm really impressed and happy that such a large group of talented musicians have devoted time to playing video game compositions. Pure awesomeness aside, the arrangement of the track was very well thought out, and the fugue section sounded super, super tight in my opinion. Glad to see large ensemble recordings on OC!
  5. I'd like to welcome XPRTNovice to the band, he'll be sitting in on Alto 1 for us. This guys got some pretty mean chops. Sax section is starting to fill up! We could really use some horns though!
  6. Pixelpanic: Sounds good, if you're interested in taking a trumpet part as well, send some samples of that too! XPRTN: Thanks, I will listen when I get home this evening!
  7. A good friend of mine will be playing Tenor 1 for us. This means we have a semi functioning sax section!
  8. Thanks Xenon, Ill definitley get a hold of you for arranging when I get this thing rolling
  9. Hey Pixel, thanks for taking an interest. If you could pm with some samples of whatever you want to audition for that would be awesome. Also, if you plan on being in the rhythm section, are you comfortable with lead sheet and improvisation?
  10. I might just do that thanks Fishy, as for being "Not that Jazz", keep in mind that it is just a big band, and we are looking for arrangers and musicians of multiple styles. Arrangers interested in getting involved dont need any background in jazz per say, as long as they are comfortable arranging a song with this instrumentation.
  11. Hey all, this isn't anything official yet, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there to maybe see who all would be interested. I've got a few tracks/remixes arranged for a jazz big band. That being said, it's no fun making sound libraries sound decent when it comes to saxophone and brass sections....So I had the idea of possible recruiting an OCR Big Band, which would consist of multiple recording musicians on the website. The group would basically act as a collective of musicians/arrangers with an interest in either playing in a video game big band, or doing some video game arrangements in a big band setting. The style does not have to be Jazz per say, as the big band will act as a medium for whatever arrangement we toss at it. Most parts will typically be pre-written, asides from solos, and this will allow members to get in, record, and get out. Anywho, I think its a pretty neat idea, and perhaps we can get this rolling. I'll put a list below of what we need, and a fun little chart . Anyone interested, please get in touch with me and we can discuss. If I know of your work on the site with your requested instrument, then you will most likely get the part. If I am unfamiliar with your work, please send a well recorded sample! Sax Section: Alto 1- XPRTNovice Alto 2- Prophetik Tenor 1- Jerry Shen Tenor 2- Anthony Lofton Baritone- XPRTNovice Brass: Trombone 1- Fratto Trombone 2- Trombone 3- Trumpet 1- Sir Jordanious Trumpet 2- C7 Trumpet 3- Majorjazzman Rhythm Section: Piano- Joenopride Guitar- AndyP Bass- Audiofidelity Drums- Wiesty Aux Percussion- DrumUltimA, Wiesty Vocals- Arrangers: Wiesty, *Doublings would be awesome, but not necessary
  12. thanks mang, definitley some good thoughts advice here guys. I'm sure this piece will continue to evolve, and im hoping to record mostly everything live, which will definitley help.

  14. If you guys are interested I'll record the drums live. I've been looking at doing something for this project, and this seems like a cool collab. I mainly play a lot of jazz and blues for drums anyways.
  15. If this ever goes down count me in on either drums/organ/piano/ or vibes, sounds like a fun collab.
  16. Hey guys thanks for the feedback, much appreciated In regards to the momentum, I'm not to sure where I want to take it yet. I'll most likely do something with it, but part of me also wants to keep it in the style of a typical modal jazz piece, so head solos head. Its pretty anti-climatic, but its a traditional spin on the material. So we'll see where it goes...
  17. haha, zombies ate my neighbours was probably my first exposure to the dies irae.
  18. Hey all, Got a bit of a WIP here of a track, just in early stages, will probably be recorded with live instruments when all is set and done. Leme know what you think! http://soundcloud.com/wiesty/ffjazzwip
  19. Hey Prophecy PM me, I'd like to get in on a track if possible! Thanks
  20. Anyone who thinks you can truly compose good music without any knowledge of theory, even on the most basic level, is sorely mistaken. Anyone who is to ignorant to attempt learning theory should not complain that their music keeps getting a "NO". Hows that for stirring the pot?
  21. awesome thread. time to get making cars me thinks....
  22. well put. of course you should learn about theory and everything, but it should still be supplementary to the process of making enjoyable music. If people like what they are hearing, its good music. Easy enough huh?
