  1. Heh-heh, it depends who you ask. They're all inter-related in one way or another (re-occurring characters and continuing story-line) but none of them are really a direct sequel of the previous one. It's kind of complicated. The second one's a good one to start with considering it has the least to do with the other three. Then you can play 1, 3 and 4!
  2. I can't think of too many quotes as of right now (because it's been a while since I played any of the games) but, one that sticks out in my mind right now is in SH4 when Cynthia's all covered in blood, her eyes are swarming around and she says, "I feel like I'm dying". It probably didn't hurt to have Room of Angel playing in the background either.
  3. Being fairly new to the boards here, I only recently discovered this thread and was surprised to see how many pages it had (77 at the time). I didn't bother reading those pages because I also saw when the thread was created and was probably full of things that no one was discussing anymore. So I just hopped right on without was being said at present. Now that I'm so stoked about the movie and all though I just may read those first 77 pages now. Thanks for being helpful instead of being a jerk, by the way. I really appreciate it.
  4. I don't know if you're trying to be a jerk or if you just think you're a know-it-all or what, but not all of us here read up on every little piece of background on the games. "This getting out of hand"? Because we're not all knowing, like yourself? Sorry some of have questions and some of us take longer to piece things together. Also, I'm very aware of the EDIT button. I just don't want to have big ass posts like yourself. I was writing on seperate topics as well. I mean no offence, by the way, and thanks for the links.
  5. It had it's moments but, yeah, the film sucked. The deleted scenes made it even dumber.
  6. Since we're talking about homages and the like. I'm sure you're all already aware of the street names in the first game.
  7. I've never actually gotten the worst ending to Silent Hill before. So I had no idea. But that's cool.
  8. There's also the Super Mario Bros. game over tune at the end. Which feels a bit out of place... but it goes well with the intro atleast.
  9. It's crazy how well all these songs mix together. They almost sound like one entire track. Totally awesome mix. Who would've thought such a tune could rock so hard?
  10. I'm a big fan of melodious (if you can even call it that) metal. This ReMix is totally astounding. Metallica could never hope to write anything so bitchin'. This ReMix reminds me a lot of an old mixer you may remember: goat. Whatever happened to that guy? Made some rockin' stuff.
  11. You've actually seen it? You're, like, one of three people I know of that has. Anywho, great chat. Hope you enjoy the film in... 99 days! It's so far away!
  12. Bout time we hear from Trenthian again! Thankfully, it's something incredibly awesome too! So much is going on during this mix; it's chaos at its most delicious.
  13. You've studied. No fair. But thanks anyway. The Flauros thing makes total sense now that you explain it like that. I know of Sameal from Lovecraft but, I guess what I meant was, I wanted there to be more of it in the game... or something. Now that I look back on it, that was a dumb thing of me to say. Total chaos and the Cthulu mythos are always such fun. You ever see Jacob's Ladder, by the way? Some things from that movie they paid homage to in SH3--specifically, the subway scene.
  14. I just kind of go with the flow with these games. It's kind of hard to rationalize everything (as you can tell). It's all about whatever makes a great game and story; nothing needs to be consistent then, does it? I know what you mean though. I've tried to piece together everything in the first game and still can't after beating multiple times. That's the most confusing one of them all to me. Like what the hell was with the Flauros exactly? I also would've liked to know more about this Sameal character. Anywho, I really hope the movie's awesome and that they make a fifth game. I honestly can't see the series sucking any time soon.
  15. I was just saying all the games were related... not necessarily sequels. I also said "for example" after the Sunderlnd part; I didn't bother throwing in the fact that in the second game you find a newspaper clipping that tells of Walter Sullivan killing two kids and commiting suicide. Anywho, I'm not looking to argue or anything. My theory on your query: Silent Hill is a magical creepy place. Not everything need be explained but I'm sure the "other world" and the "real world" sort of run on the same wave length or something (things that happened in either world somehow have an effect on the other). If neither of those theories help you out how about this one: Frank's umbilical cord. Perhaps it somehow holds a connection between the two worlds? Hence why you see the giant flopping umbilical chord in the subway world and when you revisit the prison tower world.
  16. I know what you mean. Silent Hill 2 was the first PS2 game that visually blew me away. The effects and the environment were so freaking beautiful. And, of course, I can't wait to see Pyramid Head in the movie. I'll probably pee my pants.
  17. If they made a Siren movie, you'd have to strap me in Clockwork Orange-style to watch it. That game was worse than smelly man nuts.
  18. Isn't what you just said irrelevent? I was just helping out a fellow fan. Also: the second one has ties with the fourth (Frank and James Sunderland, for example). In fact, they're all linked in some way. The third is the best, by the way.
  19. The movie is, more or less, based on the first game. So, I'd play the first game before I saw the movie if I were you. The game's pretty cheap if you can find it (I got it for 12 bucks about three years ago). Also: that sucks that you played them out of order because the third one is actually a direct sequel to the first one. It kinda' spoils a few things. But I forgive you.
  20. Though that poster's pretty cool it lacks the subtlety of Silent Hill. Not only that, it's just a couple of the released screen shots rendered over eachother.
  21. This mix is really great and I enjoy all of mv's pieces but, for some reason or another, the song transition bothers me. It blends together so well and then, all the sudden, the accompaniment for Schala's theme changes instruments at 3:14. Why does this bug me so? I don't know... I guess it just sounds like, "If you couldn't tell this was a mix of two seperate songs before, now you'll be able to tell." Don't get me wrong, the song is absolutely beautiful aside from that. That part just makes me cringe for a good 5-10 seconds.
  22. I'm sure you mean Underworld: Evolution. But thanks for the tip. I really hope this is accurate. I'm not too big of an Underworld fan. But Silent Hill'll be worth it... I hope.
  23. After all I've seen about the film, I have nothing but high hopes. So far they've got the whole environment nailed. I'd be totally surprised/bummed if the film sucks. The trailer alone is so freaking awesome. Akira is even doing the score (unless it's just recycled music from the games, that is)! Actually, the only thing that bothers me about the film thus far is the way Dahlia Gillespie is depicted. It's so drastically different from the game. Oh well, hopefully this minor change won't affect the final product and the film'll kick my ass.
  24. There aren't many words that can describe such an excellent mix as this. Though a few of them are: freakin' awesome and bitchin'.
  25. Pop music is just too overrated. I don't want such to hear more recycled pieces of conventional, formulaic poo. Having said that the vocals are obviously my biggest qualm as well. It sounds more like Dranagen's just chatting on the phone rather than actually singing. Other than that it's fairly rocking. I don't know how I feel about the guitar though; it's not loud enough during the choruses. The keyboards (why keyboards?) overpower it too much. The drums are too simple and are clearly unauthentic. I would also say this is more punk than emo. It's supposed to sound edgy and this just sounds like another catchy, over produced pop tune. Now that I write this review, I realize that I really don't like this ReMix too much at all. I really enjoyed Dranagen's Chrono Trigger mix though. That was awesome.
