  1. When I said the inside of the drive, I meant the platters -- they ARE inside the drive, not the external casing, of course. And before you're quick to lash out words, have you even tried this method? Freezing a hard drive that sounds like it's already dead, with a minimal change of future damage by freezing, sounds like a better solution than potentially spending thousands of $ with OnTrack, don't you think? Oh, and sorry, I was not aware that it was your industry.
  2. I believe we are designed to be satisfied by something NOT ourselves, and something that takes our eyes off of ourselves. Others' music tends to do that. In fact, this being one of my first posts, I think it appropriate to point to my signature picture. It is a way of communicating what I just wrote.
  3. I've heard in the past that if there's a source (like your OS) that has volume adjustments, and an endpoint (like your stereo, or whatever) that has volume adjustments, the source should be around 50%. Then you can adjust the endpoint accordingly. I believe this also comes from a sound engineer friend of mine, if I remember correctly.
  4. I thought this song was both amazing in the original game and especially in the orchestrated version. I don't think this would be good with any other genre than it already is, especially in the orchestrated version. The mood should be kept. Perhaps Celtic, with a dulcimer? Though, there really aren't any fast-paced portions. It might be quite possibly a good idea to combine this with another song -- perhaps from the game itself, or from another Final Fantasy. Anyway, thanks in advance if anyone does this. I'm sure it would be enjoyable for all, especially the remixer.
  5. Thanks! (This part in parentheses is filler because my "thanks" is "too short". . . .)
  6. Hello, all. I've been going to this site for years, and joined a WHILE ago, but have never really gotten into posting. I've loved video game music for a long time. The first game I remember where I absolutely loved the music was Final Fantasy IV (back when it was II in the U.S. (and I was in the 6th or 7th grade!)). Needless to say, I'm pretty psyched about the new FFIV album coming out! Don't really game anymore, but the music never gets old to me.
  7. I am in the IT industry. Freeze it. There should not be condensation on the inside since inside is a vacuum, and there is no such thing as condensation if there is nothing to condense . (And, of course, since it is in a vacuum, you should never open it.) Freezing it is probably your best bet. Also, my father once took a portable 2.5" USB drive, slammed it flat on the table several times REALLY HARD and WHILE IT WAS RUNNING AND PLUGGED IN . It squealed and stuff, but then I was able to get the data off of it. Of course, THEN it finally fully died.
  8. OK, thanks. I've been coming to this site for years, but I've only recently started posting more than once every year or so.
  9. Listening to this a few times in a row late at night at work right now. Thanks, it's great. More remixes of June Mermaid are welcome. I would also recommend listening to the Xenogears Creid version: I also agree with MechaFone: "This song just reminds me so much of days long gone by." That makes sense, considering the title of the song.
  10. How did I not notice this? An entire huge remix album of my favorite RPG ever?! Is this an official OC Remix album, or an independent? Just wanted to say...I'm psyched!
  11. This one is amazing, and has made it into my top ten on this site. I'm also sad that this the only remix on this site of this song. It's a fabulous song in the original game. It's simplicity, beauty, and mystery are excellently woven together. The percussion in the remix of this -- well, let's just say I never would have imagined making this song into any kind of rhythmic tune, but shockingly (for me), it works, and it works well.
  12. Yeah, this really is one of the best ones out here. How come he hasn't produced anything on here in awhile?
  13. Anyone find similarity to Donnie Darko music when it comes to the voice?
  14. I hardly EVER post on this site, but this one I love. I was hooked in the first 5 seconds. Authoritative, powerful... Combining two songs that are powerful and darkly forboding, yet the way you did it was not so despairing that the song can't be enjoyed. Actually, come to think of it, I like all of ellywu2's stuff like this, especially the Masamune theme from Chrono Trigger. THAT was amazing.
  15. In order to state my appreciation of this song, let me just say I just registered a few minutes ago to say how awesome it is. Never have I heard a remix capture a song from a game, make it new, and STILL completely maintain the theme and the mood. And a voice is even added! Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like a real voice. To put it another way, this song should have been in the original game. Simply amazing. My hat's off to you, Oceanfire. I will be looking out for your stuff in the future.
