I made another one.. He sure did. But he had help. Rayza's new bumper debuts tonight. Bring a towel. Beatdrop also made a phat bumper, and it'll debut tonight. His is perfect, BTW. If you're gonna do a bumper, 3 seconds of silence at the end is perfect for me to lead into any track at all, so I'm really appreciative. Thanks, Dain. Show archives are coming later today. They are. Me promise. EDIT: See? The MP3 & AIM chat transcript for VG Frequency #3 are available here or at the root directory. The MP3 & AIM chat transcript for VG Frequency #4 are available here or at the root directory.

I'm definitely interested in doing that idea as long as AIM doesn't regularly crap out on me during the show. Ah, memories... Oh yeah, now that my financial aid is squared away, I'm also gonna be asking for more bumper/ident contributions. If you're interested, please check out the info a few posts down on page 1 for what needs to be covered in a potential bumper. Give back to the hostess with the mostess. Except that I'm male...and not a hostess. Please gimme gimme gimme anyway. I also just edited page 8 to show to interviews and call-ins for show #4. I'll be listening to show #3 later tonight, revising the show #3 tracklist on page 6, and make both episodes available for download so you can listen to the Beatdrop & DCT (#3) and Juverna & bLiNd (#4) interviews. My sincere thanks to Species as usual for encoding the shows and making them available for myself and everyone else!

The format's gonna be loose next week. Aside from the Fresh Baked 2 submissions, I'll be looking over the chat for show #4 to refresh myself on what requests were made. Off the top of my head, there's gonna be stuff from Unknown, dhsu, Digital Coma & The Coop as well as Dancing Mad from FF: The Black Mages. Species will have the show archive for #4 soon, I believe. Just keep an eye out for it. I better give my two cents on last Saturday to clear up what's been said. I'm not good at being diplomatic, but I don't want any listeners being resentful with each other. I'd rather my radio thread got bumped with more posts proclaiming the quality of the show, like Israfel's. Or at least startling revelations of a profitable phone sex career (straight), like Rayza's. As for what happened in the AIM chat during Juverna's interview, it's pretty stupid to treat it like some E! True Hollywood Story scandal. I thought some peeps were kind of rough on Candy while her songs played and while she called in, and could have restrained themselves from the usual bashing everyone gets. Although it's not an issue of Juverna simply being female, some chivalristic courtesy would have been appreciated by me, although if it were Mae or Injury, who knows if they would have gotten the tomato-in-the-face treatment too. On the other side of the coin, however, Candy got too distracted by the joking and felt somewhat insulted, and in retrospect she knows it wasn't a big deal. She's actually a pretty good sport. I'll hopefully be having Candy back on the show to do a more focused interview, and it's gonna be pretty interesting, so I hope everyone will be more involved in checking out what she has to say next time around. Peep the link, for anyone that needs a little background on Juverna's OCR stuff (and as she said on Saturday, she's working on a revision for her Dragon Seeds mix. Though it's grandfathered, she'll readily admit that she hates it now). I do have the transcript of the AIM chat on my webspace here for anyone that honestly feels the need to check it out. The whole thing is actually pretty funny overall, though of course it's easier to figure out if you were there when the show was playing. While I appreciate others in the AIM chat trying to keep things more civil, like for Juvy's call-in, keep in mind that, no matter what, we're all pretty much immature males in the 17-22 range. Shit's gonna be wild in there, and it's not indicative of how anyone really acts. To put things in genuine perspective compared to Juvy's call-in, here's the transcipt of the chat room from last week's infamous show that ended up cutting out. As you'll notice, everyone who called in got ragged on: Star, Vig, DCT, SGX, McNoods, DK, and especially Beatdrop. Dain and Star took some huge potshots in the chat, way worse than anything Candy got. Even my friend Ann put up with Star's um..."tasteful Penthouse Forums beastiality tales" I'll call them. Honestly, as a listener or guest, don't be surprised if you get ragged on in the chat room, but everyone in the chat room, you've gotta accept that some people aren't gonna be down with getting heckled. A number of you listeners may not think either statement is fair and argue that "some people are too immature; don't be an asshole" or "some people are too thick-skinned; don't get all offended". As your host, neither one holds any weight with me, so I don't care either way. Besides, if all else fails, just rag on me. You know you want to anyway. It's just a video game music radio show. Have fun while you're listening to it. - LT

Thanks a lot to everyone who tuned in, especially to Ignis for the FF: Black Mages CD, Juverna & bLiNd for providing the double deuce of dope interviews, and for all of the new listeners who joined the AIM chat room for the first time tonight. It was a pleasure to have so many new peeps get a taste of the show. Even though I ran way over, the show was phenomenal and the double deuce is a very strong gimmick for a show format in my opinion. Species was able to archive the whole show, though I nearly ran over his 3 hour recording time (just 3 minutes left), so look for the show archive soon. Thanks again to everyone, and make sure to keep tuning in every Saturday night when you can. VG Frequency won't be lettin' ya down. Next week, we'll have all of the entries from Jeff's Fresh Baked Remix Challenge 2, plus much, much more. BTW, the girls that called in for the Super Mario World & Donkey Kong requests weren't the ones who called two weeks ago. One of the original gamer girls actually called after the show was over, while Bubb Rubb was playing. Things I learned tonight: 1) I may be a pimp, per se, but we all know DCT's got that truly covered. 2) Juverna loves all of you about as much as she'd love a colonoscopy. Frankly, everyone was way too hard on her in the chat. That's not gonna happen the next time she's on the air. 3) JigginJonT earned at least 15 more fans tonight. He may also kill me when he sees the URL for him in the tracklist, but humility is a virtue. 4) Even guys think Rayza's voice is sexy. (Liontamer: "He had me at 'Hi there...". SeattleOverCoat: "He had me at 'H'.") 5) The Wingless is a widely considered a remixing god among men. Without further ado, here's your playlist to have...to hold...to cherish: Larry Oji - WMRE (Emory University Student Radio; Atlanta, GA) "VG Frequency" - Saturday, September 27, 2003 - 10:10 PM - 1:05 AM EST 1. The initial tracklisting for the fateful show #3 is now on page 6, while last Wednesday's tracklist for #3.5 is up a few posts above. The archive for show #3.5 is available on my webspace here. No requests needed for this one, because tonight, we've got double deuce action from Rayza, GrayLightning, Red Omen, mutagene, The Wingless, SeattleOverCoat, Juverna, SuperGreenX, JigginJonT & DarkeSword. Enjoy back-to-back tracks from all of your favorite starving artists! Going way beyond the call of duty, Ignis has hooked me up with a copy of Final Fantasy: The Black Mages. To go along with tonight's theme, we'll be doing a double shot of Uematsu-produced FF battle theme remixes from the early 2003 DigiCube release. Thanks again to Drew for the serious hookup. Also, as a very special bonus, Juverna will be calling into the show to make with the talky. Be sure not to miss Candy representing on the air for the West Coast! Do you like video game music? Do you enjoy original tracks from OCR's remixers? Sure you do. VG Frequency is kicking you in the mouth at 10 PM EST tonight! The info's in the sig. Be sure to check it out!

Thanks a lot for the bump, Blake, and thanks to everyone who tuned in or joined the chat at some point during my 3 1/2-hour show at WMRE tonight. Even Protricity. Thanks again to DarkeSword for calling in and providing a very excellent impromptu, yet insightful, interview. My apologies if there's no archive of it, but I don't necessarlity expect there to be one. I'm looking forward to having Shariq on the air again for the ReVamped listening party edition of VG Frequency sometime later this year. I'll definitely hash that out a little further down the line. I'm doing some substitute action down at the station until 12 AM EST. Feel free to tune in. It's a throwaway show, consider it episode #3.5, but if you IM me, I'll do a chat and hang out. Click the link in the sig if you have RealAlternative/RealPlayer.

For anyone I mentioned it to, my financial aid panned out and I was given the additional assitance I needed this morning. That means the show will go as planned beyond this Saturday. I finally get to put on the bedsheets I bought, hang up the comic book posters I have, and unpack my luggage. My sincere thanks for all your support so far for "VG Frequency." Keep the Double Deuce requests coming...
-
Good GOD, that's disturbing...

After chatting with several peeps, I've decided to make next week's show a Double Deuce special. There will be two back-to-back tracks from every mixer I decide to play. Some people will get shut out, so I apologize in advance. For now, the following mixers will get 2 tracks next week: SuperGreenX, SeattleOverCoat, GrayLightning, Rayza, Juverna & JigginJonT. There's room for more peeps on a first-come-first served basis by replying directly to this thread (see how I indirectly force you to bump it; I'm so sneaky). Simply tell me what two tracks of yours you'd like played. It's your choice, but please keep the requests/suggestion at only two and lemme know where I can get 'em. Updates'll follow as I get more contributions. Thanks in advance guys!
-
Last night was a wierd situation indeed. On one hand, I had prank callers. On the other hand, I have remixers & fans who are equally as likely to do prank-style calls (i.e. Vig & the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders). Half the time I don't know if it's anyone from OCR or not. Basically, when you're a legit caller, make sure that the first thing you do is tell me who you are so I know that I can keep you on the phone. I'll don't wanna give off the vibe that I'm going to be squashing calls, since they're fun as hell, but yeah, any bullshit ones shouldn't interfere with the show.
-
I'm trying to figure out how to resolve the snubbing of GrayLightning, SeattleOverCoat & SuperGreenX, due to the webstream feed crapping out last night. I could do a show tonight, but I won't, only because some people won't be there, and it really wouldn't be fair to do it that way. What I'm going to do instead is give all 3 of these mixers more airtime for next week's show. I will be playing an additional track from each mixer, and they have the choice of what work of theirs they want played. SGX's latest release "Tell Me A Story" will be one song, SeattleOverCoat's Super Metroid mix "Norfidia" will be another song, and GrayLightning's Legend of the Mystical Ninja mix "Asian Twilight" rounds out the 3 that didn't make it on the air. I felt like crap for them missing out on their airplay, and I'll be in touch will all of them on what else they want played. For some reason, I'm forgetting if I did end up playing SOC's stuff, but I'll give him the double shot anyway. He's been with the show from the very beginning! Sorry that the webcast cut out in the middle of the show. The lesson could be said that I should stick more hardline to my 2 hour schedule, but that's bullshit. The Emory network went down for maitenence, and it doesn't happen too often, so this was essentially a fluke occurence. Thanks a lot to everyone who chilled in the chat and called in, and hopefully the phone won't be a pain in the ass next week. Species, I hope you do go forward with archiving this week's show. If you'd like to get creative and insert your voice into the part after it cuts out, that'd be hilarious. "Um, yeah, this is where it cut out and we all cried..." The tracklist will be put up sometime tomorrow when I get a chance to go back to the studio and get a hold of it. It was a great show this week until it cut out! Here's the playlist. The many, many call-ins will be noted once I get the show archive from Species...: Larry Oji - WMRE (Emory University Student Radio; Atlanta, GA) "VG Frequency" - Saturday, September 20, 2003 - 10 PM - 12:10 AM EST 1. He's just sayin' that cuz he's in it. No really, it will really be a hot show. He's just sayin' that cuz I'm in it. Just added to tonight's show, Beatdrop is gonna pop your proverbial Cherry Blossom with some phat beats. I'm walking to the radio station in 5 minutes and I'm dragging you all with me!

It won't be long now folks. Tune into "VG Frequency" tonight at 10 PM EST by clicking my sig link and listening to the webstream, if you want to listen, don't have RealPlayer, but would like to use Real Alternative to watch the feed, let me know, and I'll put the installation package for Real Alternative back up onto my webspace. In the meantime I'm hosting some quality dating advice articles this weekend for the sad, love-lorn chilluns' of OCR. The show is looking stacked so far, with 5 non-OCR mixes looking to prove themselves tonight. Will you like what you hear??? GrayLightning's quickly been establishing himself as the new hotness of OCR, with 3 postings in rapid succession. That's why we're following up the radio debut of the revamped Dezoris Winter with Gray's recently posted "Asian Twilight". Not to be outdone by the less-than-a-day-old freshness, DarkeSword's Millennial Fair IMC16 remix "Blue Skies Over Guardia" will also be making it's radio debut less than 12 hours after being released to the unwashed masses of General Discussion. Be sure to check out Red Omen's "Global Control (endblink Mix)" around 10:45 EST and stay later into the night to hear what else is in store (see further above). For all we know, TimberWolf may call in to yell the word "cocks" in context. Will some drunk females call in again? Will TimberWolf yell "cocks" at THEM??? The AIM chat room will be going as usual, so hit me up at Liontamer87 to join in. See you tonight...

OCR01042 - Legend of the Mystical Ninja "Asian Twilight"
Liontamer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
There's one word I have to describe this mix: "Lush!" GL's stock is rising at an alarming rate! You just wait and see what he's gonna have posted in the next few months, and if you haven't been paying attention before, that's going to change. Keep your ears open! -
Now that's a quality testimonial if I've ever heard one! What are you people waiting for? Christmas? You can still check out show #2 of VG Frequency before I head into episode #3 this coming Saturday. Beyond the traditional VGM and OCR tracks, the current preview is as follows: We've got JigginJonT's pianistic talents on display with Xenogears "Live From the Yggdrasil", McNoods pops his remixing cherry with The Secret of Mana "Beyond Comprehension", DCT lays down some relaxing rythms with Super Street Fighter II "Jamaican Soul", SeattleOverCoat's tryin' to fade you (or should I say "phase" you) with Super Metroid "Norfidia", and Red Omen tackles the best of both Enix & Squaresoft's worlds with Terranigma & Chrono Cross "Global Control (endblink Mix)". In addition to that, SuperGreenX has got a surprise for ya. Beyond that, my lips are sealed. Tune in this Saturday night!

Major, major thanks to Species, who sent me the archive of show #2 earlier tonight. Episode #1 should eventually be available as well. After updating the tracklist on page 4 of the thread and updating the ID3v2 tag, "VG Frequency: Episode #2" is available for download at my college webspace! (23.6 MB) Check out what all the hub-bubbery is about! The tracklist (including call-ins & bumpers) is included within the comments section of the ID3 tag so you can follow along with the show. Some notes for the uninitiated: 1) My radio station has a video camera in it, so if I refer to people seeing what I'm doing, it's a reference to what they're seeing on the live webcast. 2) Every week, I host a chat room on AIM ("VG Frequency"), so whenever I throw seemingly non-sequitur comments out of nowhere, I'm responding to something being said within the chat room. 3) No, I'm not high when I'm doing the show, DarkeSword. I'm also going to hell for saying the Lord's name in vain about 87 times. 4) The bitrate has been downsampled to 24kbps/22mHz in order to make the MP3 file as small as possible (thanks, Species!). (Remember, the quality's been downsampled, so don't judge a track you're unfamiliar with simply based on how you hear it here. The live feed is an 80kbps/44mHz transmission, which would sound much, much better.) If you're familiar with a song, feel free to seek your way past it and see what's next. If you're not familiar with a certain song, but like what you heard, the tracklist within the show archive MP3 should give you enough info to obtain the track for yourself. If all else fails, contact me and I'll see what I can do for you. 5) Use headphones if you can. If you liked the show, pimp this thread or tell a friend who'd be interested in the show. Enjoy, and I'll see you next Saturday!

[thumbs up] Once you get them out, Species, I believe I can eventually upload them to our radio station's webspace, so you wouldn't have to bear the burden of hosting the files. If my understanding is right, Emory College organizations get 1 gig of space to use, so we should be using it, especially for show archives. I'm also going to keep pressing my station on the issue of show recording, because while I definitely appreciate Species going out of his way for the hookup, it should be the station's responsibility to make show recording/archiving readily available for the DJs, especially the ones who are serious about their shows. I've seen much more bootleg stations possess those capabilities, so WMRE needs to step up in those respects.

Sooner or later, you have to give in. https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt104.exe Ha! I have no idea who those first ladies were, though altogether I talked to three of them (Jessica, Johanna & Mallory). One of them, I forget who, wanted to know my age. Once I said 21 and she found out I was legal, she made sure to blatantly indicate that she was an 18-year-old freshman in a um..."enticing" tone. They were all pretty drunk/horny, and I do have to agree that them being drunk made 'em sound ditzy. Nevertheless, if they're genuine female gamers, we'll hang out eventually. Might as well see if they're complete wierdos. If they became show regulars and look good, I could use 'em as my "Frequency Fly Girls" a la the SuperRadioX babes. The chat room felt she overstayed her welcome. She wondered why everyone in there wanted her to bounce, but I pointed out that she wasn't drunk, horny or talking about video games. Those were some key differences! Thanks for j00r suppr0t, Vig! Oh yeah, if anyone wants to call into the show, please feel free to do it and make an ass out of yourself. Thanks to KyleJCRB, Vigilante & Star Salzman for doing just that in the past few weeks! I'm still not able to really do formal, structured interviews yet, I apologize, but feel free to come on the air, shoot the shit and pimp yourselves out. Also, I'm definitely interested in receiving more radio bumpers. If you're down, just lemme know your intent. No hurry on getting anything to me. Thanks a lot for the help, Species; I really loved the show today and I was actually kicking myself that I didn't tell the Brothers Chaps to tune in for this one. I'm calling 'em tomorrow and the archive will be almost as good. I'm really looking forward to seeing how shows #1 & #2 turned out. Thanks for going beyond the call of duty! Thanks to everyone who listened into the show this week. It was a nice full house in the AIM chat. We all know it won't be good anyway, right? Make sure to tell other people that the show is quality, BTW. I sleep better at night that way.

Setting up. IM me to join the AIM chat room. Everyone's welcome. I'm gonna request that we lay low on the requests for just this week. There's a lot of special stuff going on for tonight's show, especially the last half-hour. Thanks, and hope to see you tonight.

Can't wait to hear it. ^_~ Gray's currently having trouble getting a comp with Win95 on it to run a RealMedia stream. He's working on it, but it looks like he's prepared to install Real Alternative on his WinXP PC and make the ultimate sacrifice for God & Country in order to tune in to the show and hear the radio debut of Dezoris Winter. That's dedication. That's 100% heart, baby!
-
Don't forget: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt104.exe Pick up Media Player Classic featuring Real Alternative and don't bother messing around with RealPlayer in order to listen to my show. Real Alternative is a smaller, all-purpose, higher-quality pr0g. I'll be doing a fill-in this afternoon from 2-4 PM EST, but it'll be regular music only. If you like my sappy English bands (Coldplay, Travis, Starsailor) you'll be down. Most likely you won't. Nonetheless, make sure to tune in tonight from 10 PM - 12 AM EST. Hit me up on AIM tonight and join the listeners in the unofficial chat room. Someone should record archive this show too. I'm really liking what I've got this week. For tonight's features, we've got a replay of SuperGreenX's newest techno original "Thinking Different", some ambient flavor with SeattleOverCoat's original "Gainsay", Adhesive_B0y's request for Grandaddy "Yeah is What We Had", an "entrancing" surprise offering from bLiNd , GrayLightning's impressive new version of the new age Phantasy Star II mix "Dezoris Winter", as well as the spacesynth stylings of Rayza's pending Gaiares submission "Credits Theme (ZZ Badnusty Mix)". All that shizzle and more-izzle... ...Tonight on "VG Frequency"!

I'm sure you submitting it feels like yesterday.

So people get an opportunity to check out the show this coming Saturday, without bullshitting around with RealPlayer & RealOne, I'm reminding any RealPlayer haters that they can download the bundle for the non-invasive movie player "Media Player Classic". It's basically setup like Windows Media Player 6. Feel free to download the "Real Alternative" installer, which includes Media Player Classic: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt104.exe Also, if you hate QuickTime or simply find no use for having it alone, you can also download the QuickTime Alternative bundle from me: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/quicktimealt111.exe With both sets installed, you can uninstall RealPlayer & QuickTime and play regular movie files, MOVs and RAMs within a simple, no-frills pr0g. Thanks a lot to Tricklozen once again for pointing these out to me. As for the upcoming show, bLiNd's got something special to offer for this Saturday, and I'll be replaying SuperGreenX's recent original work "Thinking Different". Red Omen & JigginJonT's recent OCR submissions are tentatively set for the week after (the 20th). And remember, you can always post up, PM or IM me requests as long as a) I have the track, you can send it to me, c) you can provide me with a link. I'll be happy to play whatever VGM you wanna hear. Any music with a VGM-type file format, I'll need to know about in advance (e.g. NSF, SPC, GYM, PSF, VGM, GBS). Also, thanks to everyone again who really enjoyed the first show last Saturday, especially xXoDiAx. Leaving the studio, I of course liked the music I played and having Kyle on the air, but without internet access I felt like the show was spiraling into a clusterfuck since I couldn't interact with the chat room. Thank God I made you peeps laugh.
