  1. Well, instead of "how do I remix" this is pretty much "how do I remix - orchestral music, that is" Uhh, no Platinum is like 70GB. You're probably thinking of the Gold edition.
  2. This site is a decent headphone reference http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/
  3. They still do. They're just sideways [omg] Most composers have left trackers. There aren't many trackers in development today.
  4. In this case, I don't see the need to get all philosophical, because the answer is so simple. When new comers are weary of sifting through the sticky package for specific info, that is somewhat forgivable. But this question is so basic - "How do I get my song on this site". Do you think that this site, as large as it is, would not have instructions anywhere? When I came here I had the same question....and I looked the site down from the top - and sure enough, there was an "about" link, which led to a "submission instructions" link. If you want to know about a site, your best bet is to check the about section.
  5. Psst...psst...some mixers submit their work to VGMix too...so a good technique is to see what's rejected here and check if it's on vgmix, if it is then listen to it. You'll have a better idea of why things get rejected.
  6. How much can you spend on speakers? I'm guessing you're not thinking of studio monitors, but the speakers I used to have were the Logitech X-230s and they're fairly decent for really cheap speakers (they're like $50 bucks last time I checked).
  7. KH himself says that this package will be of most use with layering with other packages, on Northernsounds. Like GrayLightning said. The official demos were dry, last time I heard, with no fancy stuff, so you get to hear it untouched. And also like GL says, it's a very cheap package, so you can't really expect quality from the likes of very expensive packages. Anyways that thread that someone pointed out here is thick with talk on this package so if you want to know how it's like in use, I think you'd be better off looking (or asking) there.
  8. If I didn't already have EWQLSO & GPO I probably would have been the first to get that one. Looks promising for such a cheap package.
  9. I think most people would tell you sequencers. Trackers have served their purpose.
  10. Uh.....do I use invidual sounfonts instead of music tracking software?......
  11. Depends on what kind of musical expertise you have. SInce you're asking what tools to use, I'm guessing not a lot. It's going to take a while before you can probably reach up to equal standards. It takes work. It's not as easy to make an accepted mix as it sounds listening to them.
  12. Is you list just for cheap stuff? Because for Orchestras you missed East West QUantam Leap Symphonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphonic Library, Miroslav, Edoril, Garritan Orchestral Strings,
  13. I'd like to say that if you can't afford top-notch monitors the stuff M-Audio is a good choice. See here: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.list&ID=studiomonitors
  14. What I meant was: You directly sample a clip from the original song and insert it into your ReMix, that's all. When I said "with your own instrumentation and music" I meant that it wouldn't be there by itself, but along with your own original material.
  15. I agree, but in the original I'm thinking of doing there's a segment that's just very hard to reproduce the exact tone of, because it uses a lot of varied tonal percussion, so I was thinking off adding it to the segment I came up with to "recreate" that unique sound. By original I mean original game track, rather than your own original works.
  16. Are you allowed to use samples from originals in a ReMix? I looked over the Submission guide and couldn't find anything pertaining to this. By samples I don't mean instrument samples, I mean passages directly from the original into your mix (with your own original instrumentation and music, of course).
  17. Stuff it all in bag and give it to me. We're both in Canada, can't be that hard
  18. Did one of the judges tell you that or just some random person who thinks he knows what the "OCR" standards are? To tell you the truth, I think it kind of flails wildly around here. I've heard some not-accepted mixes which sound better than some posted remixes. Maybe you improved between mixes?
  19. I actually don't celebrate Christmas either, but hey, when in Rome....... What do you have now?
  20. Hell yes it does! Give us a demo! If I get a mic anytime soon, you'll be the first to hear it It's actually #3 in my collection of Indian percussion. I love Indian percussion. So nice.
  21. The only music related thing was from my girlfriend who I had spent endless hours complaining to about my lack of music tools (a USB MIDI interface was amongst them) So, I got this: Of course, I would have preferred the one Yoozer posted above, but hey, you can't hint at everything! Well, actually, I also bought myself a tabla set but that doesn't really count.
