  1. Man, Dawn of Sorrow had me pretty ticked off about that "ending". I kind of thought it meant there was a sequel that would finish the story or something. Glad someone filled me in on that one, because I probably wouldn't have figured it out on my own. It sort of disappoints me that they pulled the same trick in Portrait of Ruin. At least I know about it this time. Anyway, DQ9 should be interesting. Disappointed to hear that Phantom Hourglass has been delayed. There sure are a lot of good DS games I still wanna play, though: FF3DS, Trauma Center (might just play the Wii version if I can), Hotel Dusk Room 212, Phoenix Wright 2, etc. I've just been playing the first Phoenix Wright, lately, and loving it. Just started the final case. I've been laughing so hard at this game, also occasionally getting really excited over it. It's so satisfying when you prove that someone is lying. Occasionally I feel like which evidence you're supposed to use is kind of a stretch, though. Most glaringly, the thing with the plates in Case 3.
  2. I have higher hopes for PS3 now that Kaz is in charge. Actually, now I wonder if maybe the cancellation of GTHD had anything to do with his influence?
  3. I think the extra disk space Blu-Ray provides could eventually be a necessity for some games. But not for a few years. Basically, the PS3 is ahead of its time and too expensive as a result. The real question is whether the PS3 will hold out long enough for its power to be needed - and if Nintendo and/or Microsoft will launch new consoles then.
  4. That would suck royally. Yeah, they'd better at the very least bring back all of the classic characters. Why would they get rid of anyone? Because with too many characters it gets complicated to decide on characters and even more complicated to balance all the characters.
  5. Wow, seems like you really want that PS3! Good luck getting it! Bring your DS and a lot of games, and maybe a good book. I think you meant to say, "He really wants to sell a PS3 for a hefty profit." Good luck to you Bahamut. I am waiting in the same boat, starting tomorrow night most likely. But he still wants it badly enough. Although you could just work regular hours and make that much money, but if you have free time it would be a good way to make a buck. I'd rather have the PS3 though. I am starting to wonder how many PS3s are not getting sold on eBay... If you don't wanna camp out waaaay ahead of time, though, just think of it this way: you are getting paid a lot of money to sit back and play your PS2 for another month. (That's assuming Sony can put out within a month, though, which is dubious.)
  6. It's a bad shop, but I thought I'd share this with you guys. Sorry for interrupting your thread.
  7. Guys, sorry to disappoint, but the downloadable content is not for Twilight Princess. That was a misquote. Oh well, Twilight Princess is awesome enough as it is.
  8. My copy of Meteos does that. It's either a hardware glitch, or the metal connectors from cart to system aren't touching. My friend's DS did that for a while with a couple games. I haven't really had trouble with it. It's a somewhat rare occurrance anyway. And yes, I too have had problems inflating balloons in Mario Kart DS using the mic. My friend's Brain Training seemed to work fine though - it recognized my voice saying all of the colors except for - I think it was blue. No matter what angle I try to blow at, I can go until I'm blue in the face, and the balloon will never get more than halfway there. I have found that sometimes, just saying "oooooooooh" in a low voice will work perfectly though. Sometimes.
  9. I just wanted to say that, even now, I am continuing to heartily enjoy this project. It is the only OCR project for which I have kept every single track. To everyone who participated: I am impressed. You have continued to prove that Chrono Trigger is the most remixable game ever made.
  10. I know he gave me some forewarning a while back. I haven't heard anything from him in a month or two.
  11. No, just a Spiderman font.
  12. <3 Gray. He and SgtRama were the only ones in #ocremix whom I remember being friendly and encouraging to me, back when I was a pitiful n00b trying to remix Super Mario Sunshine. The more I've gotten to know Gray, the more I realized what a great guy he is. Hopefully he isn't leaving OCR in its entirety purposely, but rather just doesn't have time to dedicate to judging.
  13. With regards to PS3 launch setbacks... I'm kind of saddened. It feels like poor Sony can't get anything to go their way these days... and with 500,000 consoles total, split between North America and Japan, it's going to be rough for the first buyers. And you thought $600 was expensive for a console. Try getting one off eBay this November.
  14. My hopes got pretty high when I read "Yuki Kajiura" in your writeup, but I ended up being pretty impressed with the remix anyway - I love the mix of dynamics between the powerful drums, soothing wind instruments, and the gentle picked ones. It's always good to hear a new djp mix.
  15. Who else feels like it's worth celebrating that OCR can support itself now, without having to rely on the charity of the good folks at ZTNet? I'm sure many websites wish they could've gotten the same sort of support that OCR did. But, yeah, it makes sense that a formal (professional) arrangement would work out for the site - here's to hoping OCR can continue to pay its own bills long into the future, without bankrupting djp.
  16. I'm hoping for the latter. Including as many characters as possible would maybe impress people initially, but in terms of actual gameplay, it would clog the character-choice menu, and it would probably lead to balance issues as well. Long-term prospects say that picking important characters only is the way to go.
  17. Tetris stages could be cool, though. Also, I checked the ytmnd and Snake isn't even on there. Neither is Metaknight. Kind of ironic in retrospect. Also, I say yes to: -Captain Olimar with Pikmin -Fierce Diety Link transformation (maybe his super attack?) -Lloyd -Bomberman -Megaman -MGS stage of any sort. Personally, I think the hangar around the feet of the Metal Gear in MGS1 would be a great place. -Ryu or Chun Li, maybe? -Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 6/7 characters
  18. The DS+Wii hurts my pockets. I don't even want to think about the PS3 My thoughts exactly. Personally, I'm looking forward to Phantom Hourglass, New Super Mario Bros, Final Fantasy III, and then of course all those games that are already out, as soon as I get my DS Lite. Not necessarily in that order.
  19. According to what I've read on Smash Bros Dojo (the official site), the theme is composed by Nobuo Uematsu, the composer of most Final Fantasy games (he left Squaresoft to be an independent contractor a couple years ago; Final Fantasy 12 is composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto of Breath of Fire V and others), but it doesn't sound like the whole soundtrack will be Uematsu. That's okay, though. I'm not all that much a fan of Uematsu himself. I'd be just as happy to get some Nintendo in-house composers to rearrange the classic melodies like in SSBM. EDIT: By the way, which characters do you guys think you wouldn't mind losing? I know it'll be necessary, since I hate it when the character-select screens for games are super-huge, plus the more characters you have the more difficult it is to balance them all. Personally, I wouldn't mind losing Pichu, Dr. Mario, Ice Climbers, Young Link, maybe Peach... After all, those are games we already have too many characters from. Maybe even Marth or Roy, if necessary. Characters I would hate to lose (obviously, Pikachu, Mario, Link, and Kirby aren't at risk here): Jigglypuff and Falco, mostly.
  20. I'm still going to play any and every character I can. Which just makes this all the more awesome.
  21. I almost never get a chance to play Smash Bros competetively, so whenever I do, I get my butt handed to me... it kind of sucks. And, of course, training against computers actually tends to make me worse, because even the best computers are just predictable and cheap. However, I find that switching characters can be really good at throwing off your opponents. If you're versatile enough to play different characters fairly well (as I am) it can take your opponent several matches to get used to your adjusted play style for the new character... giving you plenty of time to then switch to yet another character, and keep them off balance. P.S. I hate Shiek.
  22. Wait. "Sonic & Knuckles Lover Reef": There's no Amy, so does that make Knuckles a girl? And in love with Sonic? Or am I reading too much into things?
  23. I don't think the judges were saying to add a real guitar. They were saying to filter the synth guitar. I agree -- it would sound a lot less like "omg FL Slayer" if there were some effects applied to it, and it would really fit in a lot better, too. The guitar solo itself is kind of neat. I like the parts where it throws in a second one. But the note at 1:27 is really abrupt. I mean, it was sort of sudden in the original, but not this bad. The percussion and background are both excellent. The filters applied to the drums are what save this piece. But I would really like to see what this sounds like with a different sounding synth guitar.
  24. Just wanted to say that I'm more hooked than ever, almost two weeks later. The little things really don't bug me nearly as much as they did at first. Things this song has going for it: - awesome pads at the beginning - great guitar, especially the downright awesome solo. - THREE excellent sets of vocals, and lyrics that are quite pretty (though I still feel like they don't quite fit the mix itself so well). D-Lux's spoken lyrics are actually one of my favorite parts. - solid piano work I expect every OCR meetup from now on to produce a remix. Especially if they're going to be this friggin' awesome.
