  1. This is an unusual (and very cool) interpretation of The Day the World Revived, which was originally done with harps. First a butt-whoopin' percussion beat comes in, then the strings which carry much of the original melody, and then comes the sweet bassline and something that sounds like a honkey-tonk piano. Cool. Only criticism I could make is that I would have liked to hear one section where the ever-present drum beat dropped away so the bassline and strings took the forefront of the mix momentarily. Still, very good mix.
  2. This one opens up with the Kraid theme played solo on some mysterious kind of wind instrument that sounds fairly electronic, and soon the rest of the creepy and moody effects are in. Small file, large appeal == no reason not to get. NONE! D'ya hear me? Download it! Even if you already have it! (okay, maybe not if you already have it..)
  3. Deep groovy Bond beat. Peeples' "Controlled Jazz" style actually works quite well. Peeples' piano bits and Mustin's sax are both groovy but not outrageous. What are you waiting for? Get it already!
  4. One of many renditions of the Magus theme. This one has a melody that is clearly evident (unlike a certain CotMM/Injury mix of the same tune - which you should also grab anway) and slowed down quite a bit. Very heavy on the bassline, and BTW, the sound samples of the old man laughing are actually straight out of the game (extra credit if you can find them in the original SPC files). Deep, moody, and deadly. Not the best, but still pretty good.
  5. How is it that this mix only got one review? It r00lz j00!!! YOU MUST DOWNLOAD IT RIGHT NOW!!! The best song by AE on the site, and that's saying a whole lot!!! Love the awesome beeping and buzz sounds with killer modulation. Sweet drumbeat, too. This is a must-download, and I can't emphasize how much of a MUST-DOWNLOAD this is. Got it?!?! Good.
  6. I liked this tune quite a bit, but it's not the most imaginative Gerudo Valley remix I've heard, even though it's very different from the original tune. What I meant is that it could have used a bit more differentiation from the main melody, which is the same version of the Gerudo theme over and over. Good, but not the kind of track you listen to repeatedly.
  7. This one starts out good and only gets better. Very good work from JAXX, with killer rockin' whoopage and nice transitions. Great track the whole way through. It does get just a little boring after you've listened to it about a hundred times or so (like me).
  8. This one starts out a bit soft, but you can already tell that it has the Peeples seal of quality. The melody is laid back and jazzy, but with a bit of rockin' to it. Peeples doesn't let us down on this one. Not his best though; it could have used a little more of a strong point.
  9. This is a nice mix of the Gerudo theme, though it's a bit slower than I would have thought necessary. Not Peeples' best, but pretty good, and with the Gerudo valley theme being as good as it is, you can't really go wrong.
  10. This is a remix of one of my favorite SMW tunes, and it's a very good one at that. It has lots of great in-game sample use, and a nice melody with all kinds of neat tweaks. This is the kind of remix that doesn't stray too far from the original in instrumentation, but it's a very good remix nonetheless.
  11. Nice mix, but I personally like AE's Metalman StainlessSteel mix better. Still, a very fun and exciting mix that never gets old. I really don't know what else to say except GET IT AND ALL OF AE'S OTHER REMIXES TOO!!!
  12. Nice rendition of the Gauntlet theme that makes you feel like you're right in the middle of a very cool dungeon crawl. Worth a download, but not the kind of mix you can listen to for 8 hours straight. Nothing much sticks out, but it's a good remix nonetheless, and a fun ride. Tiny file, so even you 56k-ers (like me) should get it!
  13. Good, but not outstanding. Probably my favorite version of the Tetris theme on the site. The twangy strings (which somewhat remind me of Bubble Bobble 'Hillbilly Rodeo', also by djp) don't sound too good by themselves, in the intro, but once the techno beat kicks in and the groove starts movin', this mix's quality meter jumps up a couple of notches. I like it, and the best part of it is that unlike several tetris remixes on the site which build off the gameboy version of the theme, this one doesn't include it at all!
  14. Sweet, groovy mix! You can just feel those guitars blazing, and the whole style, while very different from the original tune, works surprisingly well. Definitely one of DJP's best, and with the remixes he's done, that's pretty darn good. If you like Sonic the Hedgehog 'Love Hurts', you'll love this one. Nice drum loop, too.
  15. Scott Peeples delivers yet again.. This is a deep, brooding melody with great sound quality and the kind of inexplicable coolness that all of Scott Peeples' songs seem to posess. Download now, add it to your playlist, and enjoy! P.S. - Scott Peeples, don't stop remixing, whatever you do! =D
  16. The amount of jammage that this mix fits into its teeny-tiny little 1 minute slot is amazing. I wouldn't have wanted it to be any longer - the breifness of it is part of what makes it cool. Jammage? Oh crap... now I'm talking like djp...
  17. Definitely a creepy overture to the dark recesses of Lower Norfair. This is Super Metroid's creepy and strong march at what is probably it's best. A bit thick, though - I would have loved to hear a section or two where the rest of the mix drops away, leaving the creepy choir patch (which is very close to the sound of the original, a nice touch) standing alone. Then, when the drums and timpani kick in again, it would add to the effect. Still, awesome rendition of one of Super Metroid's greatest tracks.
  18. The first time I listened to this song, I didn't pick it as a favorite. However, after listening to it several times, I've come to like it quite a bit. I love the synth strings and the modulation, and CotMM's classic static sounds are awesome. The use of the melody is outstanding except near the end where he plays it in a different key, which doesn't come out quite as good as the rest. Despite this, it remains a very good piece, which has earned its spot on my playlist.
  19. Whoa. Repeat: Whoa. This song is NEVER the same for more than a couple seconds. Very interesting, and quite different than many of the other songs I have. It's a nice change, and very well-done, too. Just whacked out, in a very cool way.
  20. Hey, pretty darn nice! The intro is pretty good - it's not extremely catchy, but most remixes on this site don't start out much better. Interesting voice samples from the game around 1:10 or so. It's not a bad remix, and certainly worth a download, if only for its originality.
