since I'm a cheap non-producer, I've been using the Sennheiser PX-100 line since 2006 I've used just about every single iteration except for the PMX-100 and the PX-100 II's. This includes the PX-200, PMX-200, and I'm currently using a pair of PX-200 II's. They tend to last about a year but that's not too bad considering how badly I abuse them. Also I've gotten them at $40-$50 apiece so it's pretty good value for my money.

Use lots of furnaces and go away and do something else. I use twelve at a time since the size of the inventory allows for two nice piles of twelve smelting material on the left and twelve fuel on the right. The tedium goes away pretty quick if you do it like this. Also stacks of either 64 or 8 coal. Using lava for fuel is awful and I hate it.

That's not same kind of backwards compatibility. Also I don't think my example was quite strong enough. That's like asking a developer to make sure that a PS3 game plays on a PS1. You'd pretty much be asking them to not only develop the game twice over (once for each set of hardware [seriously have you even seen how insane the graphics are for the 3DS]) but supply both of them on the same cartridge. That does not sound reasonable to me at all. Also, I'm pretty sure the only nintendo precedent for that was the Game Boy playing Game Boy Color games and even then the hardware difference was not even remotely comparable to NDS to 3DS.
