  1. Yeah, that mud is just not working here. For a good portion of the mix it's alright, then there are times where the lead is totally drowned out. I would really like to hear this cleaned up, because the arrangement has a lot of personalization to it, especially for the second half! NO (resubmit)
  2. Definitely agree about the overcrowding. I think it would be something that could use a re-look if this does get sent back to you. Some of it might be the balance overall, as the entire track feels super 'in your face' throughout the entire track. I think bringing down the harmonies a little in volume, along with some of the backing parts might help mitigate this. Personally I'm not feeling the 2:19 section. The combination of leads playing off each other just feels messy. Something more of a call and response, or again a dramatic change in lead volumes might help here. I think this is super close, but it's just falling short for me. The combination of the themes is pretty great for the most part, and it's super creative overall. Hope to hear this one again! NO (resubmit)
  3. Going to immediately chime in that I'm also not feeling the ending. It just seems odd and glitchy and too abrupt for the rest of the track. I think the soundscape you are going for is really awesome here! There are some production issues that need to to happen to fill out the track and 'warm it up' a little more, but I think you are definitely on the right track here. I'd also like to note that I appreciated some of the subtle panning you did; it's a nice touch. The drums stick out first for me, being so repetitive. I think varying up the drums and using them to lead the track could really add a ton more direction to the track and really help prevent that repetitive feel that we're all experiencing here. I also think a little more humanization in general could help[ the melody lines out as well. I'm also going to agree about the balancing, and the drums being a bit high whereas the melodies could come through a bit more overall. On the note of melodies, I think some variation there would also help out, they play the same pretty much every time. Great start here! You've got some work to go, but I think you're on a good track. NO (resubmit)
  4. Gario's advice here is spot-on. You've got a lot of good things going on for this, but ultimately the samples and simplicity of the sounds is dragging this down. The mix feels hollow despite the amount of details you put into certain aspects, like the glitching. I'd love to hear this worked on further to really flush out the soundscape and add the humanized element that will bring this up a few steps. Good luck! NO (resubmit)
  5. Orchestration here is beautiful! Lovely use of the melodies, and I enjoyed the listen quite a bit. I do agree that the sections feel a touch separated, but in the end it wasn't enough of an issue that I felt it brought the track to a NO level. Very pretty! YES
  6. Really little to add here. The arrangement is pretty fantastic, and I've personally been wanting to combine these themes together for a long time (albeit not in this style!). Really creative take on the track, and as Flex said the details really make it. The production overall is a little loose, and to some extent it adds character, but a touch of clean-up wouldn't hurt either. I will add my YES (borderline) to the list here. Nice work and good luck on the rest of the votes!
  7. Got a new 3DS a while ago, forgot to update code 5344-2792-7064
  8. That opening synth is intense! I'd say it's on the cusp of being too much, but I think overall it gets the job done pretty nicely. Overall the textures are pretty neat in combination, as the other judges have mentioned, and the mix is pretty neat overall. I can see why MW mentioned that things get a touch repetitive, but I also agree that there's enough little changes that keep things moving and interesting. I do think a little break from the heavy synth might have made for a little more contrast, but that's just a nitpick. YES
  9. I'm going to agree that the murky/muddiness of the track opening is a bit of an issue, and I'd love to hear that get fixed up. I also felt that the string attacks are just a touch slow, and it makes the track feel a little bit out of time. Similarly going to agree with MW that the low end is a bit overpowering on some instruments and it's causing others to be lost in the process. I think overall the bass end of things can come down just a touch. The arrangement is pretty interpretive, and I felt like it does a good job of keeping the elements of the original while still going off on it's own. If I were to nitpick on the arrangement, I'd say it feels a little too meandering at times, but that is pretty small of an issue on the big picture. I'd like to hear one more pass on the production side of things here to clear things up a little. The opening is the biggest issue, and I like the idea of having a wash of sound, but I think this goes a step too far in that direction. Good luck! NO (resubmit)
  10. Hey guys, I need two more pokemon to complete my dex, and they are the two Moon exclusive Ultrabeasts! If someone has some they'd like to trade, I can offer the Sun exclusives, or can breed you a couple starters or something!
  11. The real question I want to know is what the Pokemon Go nest in the Gaylord is at the moment. (Please be Dratini...)
  12. Not hearing the rigidness really being a problem overall, but I do hear what Larry is talking about. The arrangement is really solid and there is a great mood overall in this track. I also wouldn't have noticed the cymbal panning, but I do think that's something to think about for future tracks add it doesn't make logistical sense (rotating stage???). Really enjoyed this, and I think others will too. YES
  13. Agreeing with Larry here, the combination between the synth is a little imbalanced, but I felt it overall works. The solo doesn't doubt directionless to me; I felt like the theme is being referenced, although it is a bit oblique. Personally I want a fan of how close the synth is to the original in terms of sound and following the melody, but that is personal preference and I think it works fine in regards to our standards and such. Nice work! YES
  14. Nothing to add here to what the others have already said. The arrangement is really good at sticking the themes in there without getting too repetitive or too stagnant. Also going to agree with the overcompression, though it's not too bad on headphones. Nice work, submit more! YES
  15. Got my present from my secret santa! At first I was a little skeptical of the box it came in...but inside were some adorable Eeveelution pillows! Thank you very much Ryan (and Addie!)
  16. Definitely a close one here overall. I think that the ideas presented are great, but are played too much and become stale as a result. I think that either done more variation in the rhythms our backing parts would make a pretty big difference, and/or shortening the overall length. NO (resubmit)
  17. I can see what the others are saying about the balance in regards to which instruments are forefront, but overall i think that the arrangement and performance overcome the smaller production flaws. That being said, if it comes down to a resubmit I wouldn't be sad to see things fixed up even more. Keep it up and good work! YES
  18. I'm just on the NO side here, I think the compression/balance along with the super fake strings is enough to warrant another pass to get it improved. It's super close, though, and the arrangement itself is great. NO (resubmit please)
  19. Have my gift packed and ready to bring to the post office tomorrow, assuming the snow isn't too bad to make it there!
  20. Beat the game today! One survivor of my Nuzlocke Lite (Lurantis!). The challenge was fun, and Lurantis and Mudsdale ended up being the two unexpectedly good surprises for me that I really enjoyed playing with. I am excited now to start catching up on the Poke Pelago stuff now that I can catch the rest of the pokemon in the game
  21. I am just starting the third island now. Nuzlocke Lite run is going alright, boxed 4 guys so far, and have allowed one 'revive' due to the unfairness of 4 SOS helpers that also locked my 'mon in. But that's why I'm calling it 'Lite'
  22. Been playing a Nuzlocke lite version, still on the first island. Couple dudes got OHKO (in normal battles no less!) and it made me sad. Also what made me sad was Kadabra learning Kinesis when evolving and not confusion, and not having an attacking move until level 21 :/
  23. I do think this flows pretty nicely between the sources. The evolution of the track works well overall, and the build to the climax is well achieved. I agree that 2:15 is a bit cluttered, and the wash of nice between the cymbals, guitar, drums, and backing its a bit much. The section is overall short though and not a huge deal in the long run. Overall I think this is a solid mix. YES
  24. I'm on the YES side here; I think the arrangement is fresh and the subtle changes later on work out nicely here. The mood change to being a little more sombre works or pretty well, and gives the track a new direction. I can hear a tiny bit of the low-end issue, but it's not as much an issue on headphones, nor do I think it's a deal breaker. Great take on a great source! YES
