  1. I always love the energy that you bring to your vocals. This is no exception, and Noah's backing vocals are always a nice touch as well. I think Larry has a ton of good tips on the different parts and what isn't working for them right now. Like Larry I don't think I can give you specifics on how to fix this up exactly, but I definitely want to see it happen. Keep working on this one, dudebro! NO (please resubmit)
  2. Great source! I really enjoyed how Joe expanded this one; the feel of the original is definitely kept and expanded on well here. The lightheartedness is expressed well in the staccato writing, and I definitely liked the expansion in the different instrumental parts. While I agree with the comments above (key change, some of the muddier sections), I don't think they are enough that this should be held back. Hope to hear more from you, Joe! YES

It was done for the "Remixing with the stars" contest and, obviously, there were two people working on this, me and DusK. Since DusK has only contributed in verbal form (no direct recording, mixing, composing, just giving advice), I'm not sure how to properly credit him, whether in the author name field or just append the title with "feat. DusK". So if the judges don't mind, I'll leave this decision up to you (provided this gets accepted, of course). Additionally, I have no idea at what point of time you're reading this, however it's Christmas on the day I'm writing, so... MERRY CHRISTMAS! ------------- - Boomer Kuwanger - Metal Man
  4. I'm going to disagree with Vig here: mixing isn't always about 'beating' or even 'matching' the vibe of the original. That being said, I think the original DOES have a great vibe, and I like how Cristián borrowed some of that vibe and molded it differently. The arrangement is pretty fun to listen to, and I think pretty engaging throughout. There are definitely some production flaws, and things that Cristián will be able to improve on, but I agree with Larry that they aren't bringing the track below the bar, and this will be a great addition to the site as-is. If it comes down to a resub, I won't be sad at some improvements, though! YES
  5. Larry may 'someday' vote on this, but I'll also make it not particularly needed since he is a busy man doing a lot of good work for the site. I'm on the YES side of this, though I agree with what Vinnie said; this does skirt the 50% line of source, but it comes back to points that are easily recognizable often, which I think gives it that push it needs to get overboard when combined with the more 'out there' sections. Nice work. YES
  6. Yeah, gonna have to call it on the cluttered end. I think that there is still some more that needs to be cleaned up here before I can call it good to go. Unfortunately I don't have any specific tips for you, but I do think you have the knowledge and the ability to figure it out and get the parts sounding as good as they can be. Good luck, Brandon! NO (resub)

Name of individual song(s) arranged: Martial Law Additional information about game including composer, system, etc): Nobuo Uematsu, PlayStation Your own comments about the mix: I basically just wanted to try my hand at doing another video game remix... I wanted to pick a "mellow" track for my original, that also had some jazz elements to it... I stepped out of my normal scene of filthy/grimey/dirty dubstep inspired genres, and made a more progressive style song, merging an original style of beat with a typical brostep drop. I guess my goal was basically to do something different, that explores not only a progression in energy throughout the track, but also a progression in mood. I like what I came up with, and hopefully I managed to create what I was aiming for. ------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPVE34HM1nU

Alias: Melodious Punk Name: Kevin Fredericks Website: http://soundcloud.com/melodious-punk Forum ID: Melodious Punk Download Link http://soundcloud.com/melodious-punk/curious Game: Secret of Mana Remix: Curious Song Arranged: A Curious Tale A remix of Secret of Mana with a focus on fretless bass, thick percussive textures, and timbrally understated melody. I admire the richness of Kikuta's tracks, and "A Curious Tale" has some fantastic melodies, as well as some very delicate interplay with timbre and tonality, particularly in the modulations that pop up in the second half of the tune. I love the idea of this music's place in the story, as the player's expectations are thwarted by the peacefulness of the "evil empire", so I made a soundscape with lots of listener freedom. Musically, I felt the bass line of this song is the most interesting part to play, so it was a lot of fun modifying the bass melody around very distinct chord changes while keeping it sonically transparent. That way, the melody on the guitars and synths could be equally understated, and the listener might hopefully find their attention shifting around the different instruments, perhaps simulating the aura of exploration which the game exemplifies. Last Judgement: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29195 Sources (Getsufuu Maden - Overworld - Main Song in my mix) (Getsufuu Maden - Prologue) (Castlevania SOTN - Wandering Ghosts) Breakdown: 00:00 - 01:10 - Original Stuff 00:11 - 02:06 - Getsufuu Maden - Overworld 02:07 - 02:49 - Castlevania - Wandering Ghosts (with some original stuff) 02:50 - 03:14 - Getsufuu Maden - Overworld 03:15 - 04:09 - Getsufuu Maden - Prologue Comments: This is the very first time I'm re-subbing a track. The major complaint about the No'ed remix was compression but I decided to rewrite the whole thing from scratch (also renamed the remix). I just kept the bass and a few leads and added SOTN's wandering Ghosts in between just because I thought it would fit perfectly. Tempo has been raised a bit (I wanted the song to be catchy). The intro has completely been replaced with some more original writing. I am trying to do a Turkish Disco here. I know most of you don't like the synths I use as leads in my mixes so I'm trying to experiment here a bit and hoping you will like it this time I've given this track my best shot and don't think I can improve this any further. Really hoping that it can get through this time Thanks guys for all the feedback/Comments/remarks. I can't explain in words how much I am thankful to you guys because your critique helped me improve my skills so much all over those years!

I've recorded live bass instead of using a sampled one, so I guess that fixed the bass issue. I've also changed most of the drum samples, and added some more source in the part after 2:15. I would've resubmitted this sooner but I did so many songs during the last few weeks that I just couldn't decide which one to submit first xD (I guess you can expect lots of submissions from me in the following months ) Since I didn't include the source breakdown in my original submission, I could do it now: 0:00 - 0:46 = based on the intro to the source 0:47 - 1:33 = based on the first part of the source 1:34 - 2:15 = based on the second part of the source 2:16 - 2:38 = intro chords, the third part of the source is played at 2:27 2:39 - 3:38 = again based on the second part of the source Hope you enjoy it!

Name of the individual songs arranged: Zero-Two Link to original: http://youtu.be/BwpLSiplyYc Comments: Thanks for pointing out the problems in my previous version! I'm pretty certain I fixed my transitions throughout the track (well, they're at least much better now!) I'll make sure I never automate the master volume like this from now on I also slightly boosted the kick's body and tweaked the guitar's EQ to make it less annoying to the ear. I also tweaked a few minor parts of the arrangement to make it slightly more interesting. Thanks again for your awesome work, I'm loving the feedback! I hope you like my new version!
  19. So I think you guys still have all the information from the original sub right here: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37293 (the first version of the remix is included in the thread also). I redid this a long time ago actually, but am now finally getting around to submitting it. I've obviously improved a lot since the last submission - especially noticing how I tend to use a lot more reverb in mixes than I used too. Hopefully that's a good thing! Thanks for all the advice ya'll provided last time. I also got some side advice from OA via messaging after I was initially ready to resub. He suggested I get rid of some of the blockiness - hopefully it worked out! P.S. Not sure if it's ok, but I'm attaching the file this time. For some reason my internet isn't allowing me to upload on box or tindeck at all. --------------

ReMixer Name: Ujifusa Name: John Ryan Email Address: User ID: 49881 Game arranged: Chrono Trigger Arrangement: "Corridor of Time" (Ujifusa remix) Individual Song arranged: "Corridor of Time" Link: So, basically the inspiration behind this track was I was playing Chrono Trigger, I heard the song, and thought a piano would sound really cool. From there, basically it just kind of evolved into a classical track and I wanted it with more of an electronica / chill feel. The end product is pretty much all these ideas combined. ----------------------------------
