  3. Hello guys. Sir_NutS over here with another submission. This time from the Street Fighter Competition held by Darkesword not too long ago. This is a remix of both Ken and Cammy's themes from Street Fighter. This isn't the competition version of the song, as I made further changes to it before submitting it. For this song, I wanted to make some really aggressive dubstep in the vein of Excision, Noisestorm, and other dubstep artists that make some really aggressive-sounding songs. My objective was to make some subwoofer-destroying drops, with some really dirty and growling basses. I wanted to make the song feel like a fight, and the street fighter samples helped enhance that effect. I know with the popularity of dubstep you guys must be receiving a swarm of dubstep remixes lately, and well I guess there's not much I can do about that, but this was actually my first try at the genre and I must say I absolutely love it. I'm more of a production guy: I have the most fun creating sounds, and the genre lends itself to lots of crazy stuff and I had tons of fun building all the sounds for it. This mix was made in Reason, and all of those growling, wobbling, bending and gritty sounds you hear were made mostly with Thor. It's an incredible synth and I had a lot of fun just completely destroying the sounds with it. I mastered the song in Sonar though.   4. I think this is the 39th Sonic Colors mix I am subbing and it's not even the last one. Game(s): Sonic Colors, Sonic & Knuckles, Bastion (PC) music by Darren Korb Sources: Planet Wisp (Just the first 6 seconds) Sky Sanctuary (first 3 seconds and a vocal line based on the melody at 0:06 until 0:12 but it's a minor key), Mother I'm Here Title: Gone Link: You might need a source breakdown for this one, because the song was built around those 2 basic melodies, they appear EVERYWHERE but the rest of the song is pretty liberal. This was somewhat of an experiment to make a song that did feature those melodies pretty conservatively (6 seconds of Wisp and first 3 seconds of Sky Sanctuary) a lot but also work in original stuff. Sort of like Poolside's Shine Tonight. I'll try to point the melodies out as best I can. Sounds TRIPPY! I hope you will find the source usage sufficient. I hope you will find the "rawness" of the atmosphere to be stylistically fitting. Some of the faults were not intentional but are also not fixable, as they are from hardware malfunctions and would require new recordings, which would change the integrity of the song. I won't point them out, and maybe you won't notice them. I was in a dark place when I made this, so I'd rather not include the lyrics or really give any type of substantial mix note apart from what you can use here that isn't too technical.   5. Original decision Hey all. Here's my latest remix. I tried to fix the problems with it that were evident when I submitted this mix 6 years ago in 2006. I hope I did enough work on it that it's ready for submission. I know it's a trance mix of a trance mix, but I thought I'd give it a go. On a side note, I'd like to apologize for my behavior, or anything offensive I had said back then in 2006 in that original submission e-mail. I was acting childish and immature and was sure the judges would all "No" the remix before giving it a chance without giving a reason why. I'm older now and realize that wasn't true. I have literally thrown out everything i have learned so far in music into this song. Every drum beat, every slight variation of that beat, every transition, section, arpeggio, pad, gate, lfo, and even custom instrument creation. This track is the result of everything that i have come to understand how to do, and it is by far my best work so far. I designed most of the instruments and sounds you hear in this track, and worked extensively with sample editing. The arrangement is different enough from the original source to even tell its own story in a way. ----------

If this arrangement does not make it, I honestly don't know what will. It doesn't matter anyways, this is my one last final attempt. Even if it gets a *RESUB*, I won't be trying anymore. I will move on completely from all of this. Keep in mind, it has been a few years since I've touched anything VGM, much less the Streets of Rage soundtrack, which is what I'm best known for in the VGM area. I have had no internet for a while now, which is a burden. So, I put all of my time and effort into this. Yes, this. An arrangement of The Last Soul, probably the track I've mixed most during all of my years working with the Streets of Rage OST. I have boosted up my production for just this one time. No rush job here, just hard work and dedication. I have never had a single mix on OCReMix, and I've been trying to reach that pinnacle for well over ten years. To me, once I do that, I have accomplished all I wanted to accomplish in VGM. Anyways, this is Souled Out. The title I thought was fitting for many reasons. For one, the name of the source track. Secondly, I've been working with wrestling music for a good while. "Souled Out" is a wrestling pay-per-view. Thirdly, this track is just that. It's (Last) Souled Out. Much was added in this. You'll notice off the bat that this mix isn't like any of my other mixes. Traditionally, my mixes are often chip-like and a bit like covers. Only in certain instances was I innovative, like blending in "Sadeness" by Enigma within my S.O.R. Super Mix remix "Soul of Rage." Anyways, listen for yourself. Even if it doesn't make the cut, I know you guys will enjoy this very much. Production, I know for a fact is 100% perfect. I've listened to it many times between lo-fi earphones to HQ speakers.   17. The source is a very pretty theme, and I think your approach is very nice. I'm concerned that, for our standards, this is too close to the original. I'd love for you to expand on the theme more and add some more original writing and harmonies into this. It's a great base for an arrangement, though. The sounds are also not super great. I think they are workable, but lacking a touch of realism and humanism that would add a lot more emotion to this. I'd look at adjusting the timings on attacks and adding some vibrato on parts to make things more emotive. I think you've got a good start here, but definitely need to expand more on the arrangement with some of your own ideas. Some production adjustments are needed as well.   18. Gave this one a couple listens. I will say at first I wasn't really digging the vocal samples of Akuma, but they grew on me after a few listens and I found them to be a fun addition to the track. I think your arrangement here is definitely personalized and you've got a lot of interpretation here. If anything, I do feel like the track is a lacking a bit of direction at times and feels a bit like it's in a holding pattern. Not a dealbreaker to me, but something to think about in future arrangements. YES

  20. I like the arrangement overall. It runs a bit on the longer side, but there's clear development, and the flow of the track is quite good. The combination between the themes is also very good, although I wasn't particularly hearing the Green Hills (I'm not super super familiar with Sonic music, so you might have used a section I'm not used to). Even with the arrangement being a bit more subdued, I think this is a good break-out for you in terms of style. You took a couple risks in terms of some of the background sections and I think they worked out well. You're definitely still improving in terms of production as well. I thought the soundscape worked pretty well together, although I felt the bell wsynth was a bit on the loud side compared to the rest of the instruments. Another nitpick would be that some parts still feel a bit mechanical, although you've improved on that front as well. I like this, it's very chill, nice work. YES
  21. Interesting approach here. The idea of speeding up the original is a bit unique, and it allows you to work with the drums/synths in a different atmosphere. I feel like, however, that once you establish the song the development of the track stops. The original melodies are left pretty untouched and are serving for a background to the wubs which, after a while, loses steam due to being repetitive. I'd like to hear a lot more in terms of changing things around both sonically, melodically, and within the drumwork as well. Find ways for the track to develop more and build, maybe include a drop-out for some tension. Right now things are on auto-pilot and it's just not going to cut it as is. The production needs a bit of work as well. Some of the synths are pretty piercing and could be toned down. Other synths feel a bit bland overall and are a bit generic. You work with the dubs pretty well, but the other aspects are lacking. A lot of the parts are pretty mechanical as well, adding some humanization will give the track a little more life. Interesting start here, but there's a lot of work to go. You've got some production skills, so I'd like to see you tackle that and polish it a lot more, and then approach the arrangement to add more development and interest to the source. Good luck. NO
  22. Larry's right here; the arrangement is pretty fluid between the two sources, and there's a lot of personalization here. The sound choices are very good and fit the style of arrangement well (minus two little weird sounds right in the middle). Drums do well to support the structure. I'm a little more hesitant on the sting samples, but I think that in the end they do get the job done and the other great aspects of the mix make up for them. Nice work here. YES
  23. Pretty cool approach here. The arrangement overall is pretty nice with a lot of personalization, and good use of both of the themes. Love the energy throughout, and the drumwork is very good. I feel like, however, that there's something missing on the production end. I love how you arranged this in dubstep, but I feel like there's not a lot of bite in it, and it's missing some important aspects of the genre as a result. I'm not sure if it's a lack of enough bass frequencies or something similar, but the low end feels somewhat absent overall. Maybe another judge can clarify a bit and offer some advice on how to fix it. I'd love to pass this, and I think even as is it's on the right track, but I think you can get more out of it if you tweak the production. Good luck on the rest of the vote, I may change mine around depending on what others say. NO (resubmit)
