  1. What about the supposed "White Engine" that SE has designed specifically for the development of PS3 games? I mean, unless they scale it or toss it out all together to design for the 360, which would be easier to develop for anyway.
  2. Small question, gang. Supposing that I buy a 360 Premium that includes both an Xbox Live Silver service along with a headset, would I still be required to buy a Gold kit/card, or would I be able to just subscribe to Gold straight from Silver right out of the box?
  3. So I finished DOA4 yesterday with all the characters including Helena. This has to be one of the better video game moments I've witnessed in a long while.
  4. rented DOA4 last night. I love this game. I mean, I'm getting my ass handed to me at pretty much every turn, but I love the pickup and play factor involved. With a little bit of practice and some getting used to the counter system, I'm sure I'll be awesome soon. That's what I've always seen as a drawback to the VF series. I friggin' loved VF4, but that's 'cause I'm patient and steady. It lacks the same pickup feel that DOA has in my opinion, but I also feel that there's ALOT more depth to it. That being said, I can't wait 'til VF5 comes out for the 360. Unless Sega pulls a 180 and adds online play for VF5 on the 360, then DOA4 will probably be my online fighter.
  5. 30k for the lizard jerkin is nuts. Most I payed was 10-12k. On Odin. From what I understand, AH inflation isn't that big an issue anymore.
  6. Well, I've never been too big of a fanboy I don't think(although I did go through a Final Fantasy stint at one point or another), but it always did piss me off when a game series would move to an entirely new platform. I'm still stuck in the last generation as far as gaming goes, and I've been trying to convince myself to grab a 360 or something if anything mind-numbingly awesome comes out, and so far, I like what I see, but it's not enough. I'd like to really get into DOA4, but I'm not even sure it's worth it, and I haven't played enough Virtua Fighter to really get into it either, but I really wanna go for VF5, and even though it's not entirely what I'm after, I've always wanted to try out Ace Combat and Armored Core. Guys, help me out here...
  7. This thing looks killer, but I'm still gonna hold out for a price drop(if any), plus, I'm kind of wondering whether this is bogus or not, so best to wait 'til E3 to see about this.. With the news that Ace Combat and Devil May Cry are going to the 360, along with Virtua Fighter, I think I might just be hooked on the idea of buying a 360, though.
  8. Still had LOADS more fun on FFXI than I ever did on WoW. I've played my fair share of Korean MMOs and others like GuildWars, Everquest, Eve, etc. WoW just bored the fuck out of me. Quests are lame, storytelling's still goofy, why the fuck would I even want to play a game online if I wanted to play by myself, although yeah, I won't lie that it's slow, and that's where WoW wins out, but have you ever thought that people don't mind the pace? I know I didn't. If anything, it gave me more time to chill with my group. With FFXI, you pay a meager 13 bucks a month, and you can do ANYTHING with that one character, and if you want more, you could make 2 more characters that can do and be anything at any time and be at the same price as WoW, which is 15 a month and there's what? 8 classes and you can only have two professions at a time? No thanks. I won't even begin to mention the MASSIVE delays on the latest expansion that I might add is pretty much the same price as a full game. Good going, Blizzard. "Quality control" my ass. Again, WoW just bored the fuck out of me. You go play that if it tickles your fancy. As for me, I'll be over here playing FFXI.
  9. It doesn't have to be EPIC, it has to be structured and flow properly. Like I said, I never knew what the fuck I was doing and why in WoW. You can defend it all you want, but any player who really looks at it will see that the storytelling in WoW is ass. I happen to like a lot of the Warcraft lore(even though it IS generic American stuff), but again, like Demetri said, it's like "hey! I took this... from my ass! Now go find me some spider silk!" Maybe I have a bias since I played FFXI first, but I didn't even last 3 weeks into my 30 day trial for WoW. WoW is great for "pick up and play" factor, and since it panders to a dumber audience(it HAD to in order to get that many subscribers), it'll get more ratings. I mean christ, everyone and their families including their retarded younger brother and sister play WoW 'cause of those two main factors. To put it bluntly, WoW played out more like a game for people with ADD than anything else. Of course, that's pretty harsh, and everyone's entitled to play what they want, but god knows I tried WoW on and off for close to a year and a half, and I could NEVER get myself to play past lvl.25.
  10. Puppet Master(FFXI version of necromancer... well that's what the director said in an interview anyway), Corsair(YAR! I'm Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate! Functions kind of like a gambler from what I can tell), and Blue Mage(how they balanced this out to work with the game is beyond me, but I've always wanted to see it done, so yay!). I'm not too partial about these, well, maybe Blue Mage, though. I wanna go for either monk, thief, or ninja.
  11. Well I guess it depends on the player, but I found WoW pretty boring past lvl.20. I won't mentioned the grouping factor of FFXI, 'cause what needs to be said has already been said for the umpteenth time, but I will say that I pretty much remained solitary in WoW even when I was in the five different guilds that I joined. People just never talked much. I don't even see the point of partying in WoW. "Casual game, casual friends" is what it feels like. I like a sense of direction and purpose, AKA, a story to involve me in a game while I play, and quite frankly, the convoluted storytelling used in the Warcraft and Starcraft series as a whole has left me disappointed. Another point for FFXI. Of course, it DOES take hours to get alot of things done in FFXI, but when you're in the middle of Yhoator Jungle killing gobs at lvl.31 with an awesome party that you can just chill with/die together while running like bats out of hell to the zone to avoid multiple aggro, well you can't put a price on that kind of fun.
  12. You have no fucking idea how much I wanna play, dmitri. Hopefully I'll have EVERYTHING ready by the end of next month.
  13. That was the whole point of the thread, granted I probably should have used a different opening example. Also, what the flying fuck is this doing in this "community" thing?
  14. there should seriously be a sticky that prohibits fanboyism around here...
  15. That's pretty much what I was getting at. What's worse is that these people give every non-crazy musician a bad name. Ugh...
  16. So I was looking around for a few cool mixes that I needed to download again, and read some of the judge reviews on a few of them. I immediately choked on my own laughter for a few seconds. What kind of nerve does it take to rip on an otherwise awesome song simply because it doesn't follow your holy opinion on what it should be? Who died and made you fuhrer? This reminds me of so many instances in which I've come across people that snub anything that isn't classical, r&b, _insert style here_, etc. It's sickening. Then they toss out the whole "well I graduated from _insert self pleasing shit music school here_, so I know what I'm talking about." Please, give me a fucking break. Of course, what's worse is that it also extends into my own family with my elder brother and sister. How are you gonna alienate an otherwise awesome person just based on the music they listen to? Granted, I have a music history as well and whatever, but for fuck's sake, music is supposed to bring people together n' all that gay rainbow shit. I've noticed this among alot of people who are classical musicians. I remember back when I used to take my guitar lessons at the Conservatory of Music, I couldn't stand the place one bit. The environment was predominantly cold and kids and their parents were usually assholes. Anyway, have any of you noticed this kind of thing around you?
  17. Well if you're not having fun with games, then don't play 'em. This thread reminds me of all the threads bitching about the "golden age" of unmod.
  18. FFIV Advance was pretty decent. I wasn't too impressed with what they did with the localization and script, as well as several battle-related issues, but FFIV's been my fav game since I was 9, and I love going back to play it. Also, I heart Rydia. Moving on to FFV Advance and from what I've played, they really did a cool job with the script. They were able to add alot more to the theme of friendship that goes with the game. More opinions later.
  19. Wow... I've just started playing FFVI Advance. It's like playing the game for the very first time. The script is much better, I actually like the way they handled the music, although yeah, there is a TAD bit of lag, but nothing too bad. So far, I approve of this port. It makes me wanna go back and play the ports of the other SNES FF games.
  20. I think I'm near that time of year again where I pick a SNES generation Final Fantasy to play from start to finish. I think it'll be between FFIV and VI as usual, although I might do something totally unexpected and go for FFV.
  21. Nobuo wasn't that involved(if he was at all) in the FFX-2 soundtrack.
