  1. DJP used the words "gorgeous" and "intimate" in his write-up, I think they are quite fitting. Very beautiful solo piano piece; one of the best on OCR IMO.
  2. I do not know the source of this remix, so I was able to try to enjoy it based on its own merits, and enjoy it I did. Musically speaking, this is pretty much right up my alley. Same here, though I would prefer a frantic double-tempo section instead of a half-tempo one.
  3. The combination of an arrangement like this one on one hand and the arabic instrumentation on the other hand is a very interesting approach that turns out surprisingly awesome. Good stuff.
  4. At first, I could not really hear the 90s influence djp talks about in his write-up, but once the part around 1:15 kicked in, I was like "Am I listening to Westbam's Celebration Generation?!?" and all was well and 90s. I do agree with the previous posters about the song being a tad too short, though.
  5. Loads of energy in this one; very enjoyable. The only part I'm not too hot on is the stuff around 1:50, where it briefly drifts into dubstep territory.
  6. Funky as all hell. LOVE the rhodes piano. Soloing is awesome. I wish the main synth was a little softer though; I find it a bit too loud, overpowering the funk in some places. Also, how anyone could regard this as porn music is beyond me.
  7. Good to see DigiE back, and with a OMF remix to boot. And it's a really enjoyable one, especially with the cool vox. "And you must dance" remains my favourite DigiE remix, though.
  8. The synth reminds me of FF7, especially around 1:00. I really like the paino, and the violin is of course very good, too, but I'm not too hot on the violin + synth mix around 3:10; to me, the violin just sounds a little too dark to mesh with the synth.
  9. DJP summed it up perfectly in his write-up: "The style in question is some very dramatic, LARGE orchestral". And dramatic it is. For some reason, it makes me think of the kind of music you would hear during the appearance of a boss and his fleet of flying ships or something in a late 90s JRPG. Very enjoyable.
  10. Nice arrangement, but I have to say that I think a "No, resub" might have helped this to be even better. Things like the low volume etc really do hurt the remix IMO.
  11. Made me groove to it within the first minute, and that has to be a good sign. Also, I agree with everything said about the bass line. Very nice.
  12. Jazz remix with saxophone? Right up my alley. And yeah, good use of the sfx. Who would have known you could use a Mario game to dub a porn movie?
  13. While I find this remix to be pretty good musically, I do not like the "vocals" at all; they become grating very fast and are just plain annoying in the second part of the song. Also, the synth coming in at 3:20 is too loud IMO, making it quite obnoxious. In other words, there are some things that I wish had been done differently, but overall, this is enjoyable.
  14. Somehow, djp's write-up didn't hype me up for this remix at all, so listening to it was quite the pleasant surprise. There is just so much going on, from the guitar to the rhodes to the synth solo. Also, I'm getting quite the 90's VGM vibe from this. Then again, MGS2 wasn't that much later, so...
  15. Very dreamy intro. Actually, everything up until the guitar enters is very lullaby-ish. But even once the lead guitar enters, the song still stays very chilled and relaxed. Really enjoyed the chiptune-ish breakdown around 2:40. Nice stuff.
  16. Much rougher/harder than what Joshua Morse usually delivers, but it still is very much a Joshua Morse arrangement. From the breakdown around the 1:00 minute mark to the lead guitar, it has Morse written all over it. Even moreso from 1:40 onwards, where it even reminds me a bit of the music you'd hear in Ridge Racer. Too bad so few people gave this one a chance due to its rather unknown source. Good stuff. But what is with the long silence at the end of the track?
  17. Sounds exactly like the kind of metal we were listening to when we were 15 and playing MK 3 or IV or whatever it was back then. Pretty much a perfect fit for me.
  18. As djp said in the write-up, a medley of this scope takes some serious talent. Fortunately, the two guys have that in spades, so we're treated to an amazing tribute to the series which has had consistently great soundtracks throughout its entire lifetime. Beautiful.
  19. Incredibly haunting and atmospheric. Raises the bar for both of these IMO. Same here.
  20. Nice, powerful stuff, especially around 1:40 and 2:10. Synth breakdown is good, but as was said before, it is a tad too long. Solo is awesome, but comes in way late and is abused for the very abrupt fade-out. Hell yeah!
  21. FF8's soundtrack is a strange beast; I remember not being impressed with it at all back when I first played the game. However, when I went through it again about 2 or 3 years ago, there were actually some songs I enjoyed, this being one of them. Very interesting arrangement, and a very, very nice sounding and well-used organ.
  22. Bloody awesome; there's just so much going on in this remix. The wonderful choir around 0:40 and 2:00, the lovely piano coming in around 0:50 (both of which remind me of Metroid, for some reason), nice synths around 2:30, and an awesome flute (?) to top it all off at 2:45. Outro is well-executed, too. Great stuff.
  23. This is pretty spot-on, though I'd add "melancholic" to the list of adjectives. Guitar has a nice sound to it.
  24. Nice arrangement of the source. Production is also pretty good. That being said, the remix is not really my cup of tea; it's just too melancholic. Certainly an interesting direction to take the theme in, just not for me.
