  1. I, too, would have liked to hear some longer/more pronounced solos, especially some that don't have the source playing in the background. While the guys get astoundingly much out of the rather short source tune, I do feel that the remix becomes somewhat repetitive in the second half, simply because the original riff is almost always there. Nevertheless, nice work.
  2. Happy, peppy, epilepy. The usual chiptune-y goodness from halchthonic. Very uplifting; a proper feel-good song.
  3. Dunno what to think about the first 80 seconds of this remix. As an intro, I feel it is too long, and it's not like it's a breakdown or simply the first half of the song. Don't get me wrong, it isn't bad or anything, quite the opposite, but it sounds kinda tacked on. Guitar shredding once the remix proper starts is very good. Nice breakdown at 3:11. Awesome climax at 4:00; really powerful. The car sounds are corny as all hell, though.
  4. I second all of this. However, just like Rozovian, I would've liked to hear another verse.
  5. VHD delivers once more. Production is top-notch. Furthermore, I absolutely agree with what other posters have said before; the chorus is used expertly in this song, whether it's in the first minute or at the end of the remix. 2:15 onwards is particularly interesting, not least when compared to Shnabubula's Dueling consoles, i.e. an approach with very different instruments. The strings, while there only for a short time, are magnificent; I wish there would've been more of that. One of the best orchestral pieces on OCR IMO.
  6. I agree with djp on the "1970's detective movie soundtrack" feeling, at least for most of the track (up until 1:20, from 2:10 onwards, etc). Other than that, e.g. around 1:30 or 3:00, the lead guitar has an almost Santana-ish feeling to it, which doesn't evoke pictures of sleuthes walking down dimly lit alley, but is still interesting. Nice work.
  7. As far as I'm concerned, this is zyko's best offering so far. Beautiful guitar playing, good vocals, and awesome, fitting lyrics. 2:25 onwards, when the song picks up a bit, sounds rather epic. 2:50 adds a little bit of caribbean flavour to the mix (same around 4:15 and 5:00), and the following breakdown is very interesting, having a dramatic feeling to it. My only criticism is that at about 4:30, when the vocals come in again, it sounds as if they were recorded too loud; this is especially apparent when listening to the mix with headphones. 6:00 onwards, when the flute joins the mix, is just great. Wonderful way to end this remix.
  8. Insanely catchy and varied remix. Guitar at 1:22 is sexy, piano at 1:33 is absolutely lovely, 1:57 onwards picks up some speed'n'power and is just plain awesome. And, last but not least, the vocals, which make this thing so damn catchy. Great work, Another Soundscape and DragonAvenger.
  9. This remix takes me back, reminding me of times when OCR posted songs like Blue Lightning or MegaDance Mix 2002. Considering that these two are some of my favourite remixes ever, the song in hand is right up my alley. Good stuff.
  10. Very somber piece; good, but nothing I'd listen to over and over. It's just...too depressing, and the sound of the guitar adds a lot to this impression. Considering that this is what the remixer was going for, I'd say this is a job well done. The fade-out is weak, though. A piece called "The very end" shouldn't just peter out.
  11. Guitars and vocals are nice, but what really makes this mix stand out are the lyrics. Damn, are they awesome. The way the story of Quickman and Megaman is told, the slow part around 3:00, the final showdown...I'm usually rather hesitant to use the word "epic", especially on the internet, but in this case, I don't have any problem doing so. Stellar work, guys.
  12. Definitely going on my jazzy remix playlist. The beginning (i.e. until 1:19) is a little rough around the edges, but everything is forgotten and forgiven once the main melody kicks in. Very smooth and relaxed. Exactly how I like it.
  13. Arrangement and choice of instruments are both very nice, but I do have to echo what is being said about the quality of the recording. The volume is insanely low, and as Master Yoshi said, it all sounds very distant. Other than this technical issue, this is a mightily fine remix. Oh, and I'm not bothered by the guy coughing at all. It's live; stuff like that happens.
  14. Seconded. Beckett007 stays within his comfort zone and delivers yet another orchestral arrangement with a heavy action-movie-OST influence. And it's a good one; personally, I'd even say his best one so far. Nice work. While I'd certainly enjoy more remixes in this style, I'd like to see Beckett007 do something completely different, too.
  15. Happy, chippy feelgood song. Nice choice of sounds, and I, for one, enjoy the voice sample. It really adds a special flair to the song, making it almost sound like something from a Katamari Damashii soundtrack.
  16. Stupid or not, I love this. Then again, Thunderdome was my religion when I was about 12 years old; I don't know how often we listened to the first five volumes (for whatever reason, we kinda lost interest after that).
  17. Pepsiman is fucking amazing; I even bought a sealed copy of the game just so I could marvel at it. I'd love to see a remix from that game posted on OCR.
  18. Nice to see this remix make it onto OCR. The style of SMW's music lends itself pretty well to this kind of arrangement, and Hyadain makes the absolute best of it. While I love the vocals and the lyrics (especially the spoken parts are hilarious; I love the way Mario and Bowser/Koopa treat each other in this song), I'd like to hear an arrangement without them, simply to enjoy the music more. Awesome stuff.
  19. This kind of music is right up my alley, so I enjoyed this a great deal. The synth and piano in particular are really good. I do wish the final stretch of the song would've changed things up a little bit more, but it isn't that much of an issue here. Nice debut remix; hoping to hear more from you soon.
  20. On the one hand, this is not what you'd usually hear from Mazedude (of course, since it's a collab), but on the other hand, it still has more than enough Mazedude-ish elements in it to make it obvious that this his work. The choice of sounds, the feeling of hopelessness, the desolate landscapes it conjures, the creepiness. This. Is. Awesome. The piano stands out in particular. Used very nicely, especially around 2:30 and 4:30.
  21. I enjoy this one, maybe because it is different from his usual stuff. Interesting and captivating arrangement and choice of sounds; very easy to get lost in. And gettting lost in it is what happened to me; until I read this thread, I did not realize that the song is 8 minutes long, and I listened to it about 15 times over the last week. Often, I'm the first one to cry "meandering" and "more variation", but in this case, these thoughts never popped up. Now if we could get a version with a higher bitrate...
  22. Interesting mix of electronic and orchestra. Also, I agree with DragonAvenger about the trumpets; they sound very good. I also agree about the lack of a bombastic ending being a slight disappointment; I, too, hoped for more oomph in the final stretch of the song.
  23. Have to say that I really enjoyed the vocals, especially considering that Jimmy is an "amateur" (to put it in his own words). I hope we'll hear more of that in the future. The lyrics are really cheesy, though, but that's not something that bothers me. The guitar solo has a rather epic sound to it. The trance riffs in the last part of the song are an interesting addition; on the one hand, they sound kinda weird in a song like that, but on the other hand, the do add a certain awesomeness to it.
