  1. As far as mixing chiptunes with a more modern sound is concerned, this pretty much hits the sweet spot. Good stuff. Lovin' the little Zelda "solo".
  2. The intro sends chills down my spine. I don't even find the remix at hand to be that minimalistic; melodically speaking, there is still more than enough stuff going on for me. Anyway, really diggin' this, and I hope we're going to hear more remixes like this one.
  3. Sweet rockin' remix. Castlevania is always a good source, and it is nice to hear Bloodlines getting some love. Breakdown around 2:40 is awesome; the guitar has a very Queen-ish sound to it.
  4. Definitely hearing the similarities to Daft Punk, though WillRock's song here seems to be a bit more chiptune-ier.
  5. The kickdrum is indeed rather week. Nice guitar sound (particularly around 2:45). Solos (both synth and guitar) are nice, and the claps are a very cool addition. Good stuff.
  6. Piano is implemented very nicely. The part around 2:45 goes slightly into "epic" territory, but it does not go overboard (which is good, as it would have changed the mood of the mix cosiderably otherwise). Nice ending. I do find the beat a little too fast and loud, though. Slowing the mix down/doing without the beat (as Swanky said) might've been interesting.
  7. Interesting thought. In my opinion, the male vocals are overpowering the female vocals a bit during the chorus; a little more balancing would have been good.
  8. This. Theremin gives it sort of a classic SciFi/Horror feeling. Love the voice samples at the beginning; while things like these can be pretty hit or miss, this one definitely hits. Also, that bass is bumpin'.
  9. At first, I thought "This sounds like some JRPG from the 90s". Then, "Mhm, definitely 16bit/early 32bit era". Finally, I remembered which game the source is from, and went "Durrrrrrrrr". Awesome, awesome remix. Love the instrumention, especially everything between 1:00 and 2:00. The choir is friggin' sweet, too. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
  10. I'm kinda...unsatisfied by this. There's this gigantic build-up for the first minute, and when you think that it's finally going to let loose and turn into epic shreddage with a double bassline, you just get more slow stuff (starting at ~1:10). It does pick up some energy around 1:40, but it's still not what I expected. 3:20 onwards is more in line with what I wanted out of this. Good song, just not my cup of coffee.
  11. So a seal walks into a club... Chiptune-y without being too chiptune-y, if that makes any sense. Also, a fade-out that's actually well done. Kudos.
  12. Instrumentation is most wonderful. Really has that certain, hard to describe "authentic" feeling to it. Funnily enough, the first few seconds of the main melody (around 0:40) give me a Greek vibe.
  13. Smoove and chill. Piano is beautiful, though I do wish it were a little louder during the breakdown around 1:30. Very enjoyable.
  14. This. For some reason, the intro reminds me of Lover Reef, while the vocals/lyrics remind me of JoeCam's Ode to a lost love.
  15. Oh my God, this is bloody awesome. 0:30 onwards is badass, but 1:10 onwards is even badasser. Nice use of distortion, too. I just wish this remix was longer. As in, 6 minutes or so. Another winner by Mazedude, I guess. Too bad no-one listened to this because it's from a game hardly anyone has ever heard of.
  16. The marimba-ish chords are indeed very interesting. Production is sweet, too. The main synth isn't my cup of tea, though, so the entire remix doesn't do much for me.
  17. Reminds me of 2001/2002 OCR; some of the sounds used actually have a 90's techno touch to them, IMO. The whole (wrong) idea that some songs should only be remixed in certain genres has already been dismissed, so I don't have to get into that. Anyway, I enjoyed this. That's all.
  18. Indeed a very interesting blend of western and eastern instruments. The transition at 1:57 is a little too sudden, IMO. The following breakdown is pretty sweet, as is the build up after that. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
  19. This. Yes, it is not perfect (clap etc), but it is still a very, very enjoyable track. Love the somewhat Asian feel of it.
  20. I downloaded a bunch of remixes, cued them up and went to hang out the laundry. When this one started playing, I was like "Yep, that has to be the one by Beckett007." I like the singing/chanting, and how the remix goes full on movie-OST around the 1:50 mark. Beckett's mixes are always so short. I want him to make some 7 minute epos some day, damnit.
  21. First off, we need more Amiga remixes. As for this remix, I can definitely hear the connection to Malevolent Mansion. The breakdown in the middle is a little too long IMO, though. Also, it would have been nice if, in the last part, where the song picks up speed again, it would speed up even further for the finale, i.e. go from fast to frantic. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, good first remix, and I am looking forward to hearing more from you.
  22. Certainly not what I expected when I read Shinobi; considering that the games tend to attract more "aggressive" remixes, this laid-back piece came as a surprise. Guitar around 2:30 is very nice; I wish there was more of it. Good stuff.
  23. Probably one of my favourite solo-piano pieces on OCR. The jazzy part from 2:!5 onwards in particular is really nice.
  24. It took a while, but now I finally remembered which other OCRemix this one reminds me of: Bando alle Seghe Both are very relaxed, Enigma-esque songs. For the most part, that is; after all, the remix at hand picks up quite some speed in the second half. Awesome stuff.
