  1. Also Medal of Honor: Frontline. Just putting that out there if it wasn't already.
  2. That's really weird. I haven't heard of anyone else having that problem. 0_o;
  3. Well, to be fair, he's reviewed a number of titles he does like. It's his job to rip into all the games he's played and it's been proven that if he's universally positive about a game he reviews, a lot of his feedback is negative. Considering his popularity is built around being negative, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, he is often forced to rail games he enjoys. Take, for example, Call of Duty 4. His review of it was largely positive, and he clearly enjoyed it, though he went after the game's faults pretty aggressively. Or Super Paper Mario, where he said he had fun with it and found some of it brilliant, but he shot at the game's attempt to drag out gameplay length. You mentioned Galaxy, and that was clearly another game he genuinely appreciated, save for a few quibbles. And I mean, he genuinely had a few quibbles with Psychonauts too, it's just he didn't detail them at great length like he has with other games he's enjoyed. Also? Watch the Orange Box review. He has pretty much almost universally positive things to say about it, especially Portal. I think he's already reviewed a number of games he's genuinely liked, but it's not his job to be nice about things. And while it's good to have that change of pace, it's not what he gets paid for. *Shrugs*
  4. I think he intends to keep his word, short of The Escapist leveling pressure on him to do so. And he's just going to go on about rubberbanding AI and the items and such anyway. You know, legitimate complaints about the game, but ones we've heard a thousand times already. And it'll boil down to the same thing as the Brawl review: If you already like this sort of thing, you'll still like it, and if you don't, you won't. An MKWii review would basically be an exercise in futility as it is, considering it's the posterboy of Mario "selling out", like he continually goes on and on about. So, let's pass on that and actually get a game reviewed that he may actually enjoy. That said, the GTA4 review wasn't bad. Not bust-a-gut hilarious, but still solid. I really liked when he referenced the original GTA and how silly it was. That's pretty much why I played it at all. Mayhem and destruction. *Shrugs*
  5. Oh yeah, I agree wholeheartedly with Joe. Nothing blunts an enemy offensive quite as effectively as a sniper's bullet. You don't want many snipers, but having a couple is vital to an effective defense strategy. Though they are less useful on the offensive, having a sniper back up the forward push can sometimes push the tide of victory in favor of the aggressor. Another use is to use the Sniper to pick off the Engineer fixing the sentry guns so that the soldiers or demomen can properly dispose of them. There's lots of effective uses for a good Sniper, it's just that it requires some foresight and sometimes it's highly situational. As Effef said, the only time you really run into a problem is if you get a sniper who can't hit anything. By all means, if you have fun with the class and you're contributing to the team effort, play it!
  6. Yeah, you did some bad ass work tonight, Chadly. Great job. Also, great time, everyone. Hope to do it again soon.
  7. DANKE, HERR DOKTOR! Though seriously, don't worry about not being great at other classes, you pick them up with practice. And truth be told, I'm not very good with many of the classes. Just basically soldier, medic, and Heavy.
  8. Lol! Nice description, though a bit stretched. What, is it part of the divorce settlement that Mario has to save her ass from Bowser every time she's kidnapped? XD
  9. I dunno, dude. The muffled shouts of various phrases from the Pyro is comedic gold, IMO. I can't wait to see what Valve does with that whenever they make a Meet the Pyro video. But yes, Pyros are very, very fun to play as, but I suck at it. Then again, I'm not great at the game anyways, so I pretty much suck as everyone.
  10. I was amused by his correction of grammar and spelling in the letters he received, though I'm disappointed that he didn't address at least one competent letter. Surely from the deluge he received, you would figure that at least ONE person would write a fairly thoughtful critique of his Smash review. ...then again, these are fanboys we're talking about and their literacy rates and abilities to use logic are usually sub-par at best. That being said, I admire that he didn't flip out on everyone who mailed him. I rather enjoyed his tone throughout. Yeah, he insulted them in a typically Yahtzee way and it was brilliant. Wasn't over the top and was still funny. Though to me, it's sad that his rebuttals to the replies of his Brawl review was actually funnier than the Brawl review itself. Oh well.
  11. Oh... RIGHT. I'm sorry, I have the memory of a gnat, apparently. My bad.
  12. Seriously, join us. A lot of cool people were there. Though there was no obligatory eyeroll by Darkesword. Guess we'll have to assume he did it in spirit while playing.
  13. Splendid fun with all of you! I may be terrible, but man, that was a blast! We should do it again soon!
  14. I might be a little late from 8PM EST, but I'll be there as soon as I can.
  15. I'm flexible. I'm really up for any day except Saturday nights to do TF2, so if you guys name a day and a time I'll try to be there. I know it's not helpful, but... let's get a feel for what works for other people.
  16. Yeah, I'm not up for custom maps either. Valve maps tend to be finely tuned and balanced for the best gameplay experience anyway, so I'm good with just the defaults. Also, we should totally do some fragging on the server tonight. I'd be completely up for that.
  17. For maps, I'm all about Dustbowl. Love that map a lot. Lots of fun and doesn't tend to stagnate as badly as 2fort, though 2fort's quite a bit of fun now and then. I'm not a fan of Hydro, though.
  18. I think he was saying he didn't want any smartass remarks about titles. No one would *seriously* recommend them, but he just doesn't want to deal with pain-in-the-ass smart aleck remarks that some forum goers typically make. On topic, Starla's recommendations are really good choices, though I'd also submit Advance Wars: Days of Ruin if she likes any sort of strategy games, and Trauma Center if you're looking for a fairly unique experience.
  19. I'm 23 and I've only played whatever length of time the Masterpiece on Brawl lasts for a Kirby game. Though after that, I quickly realized my mistake. I share your sentiments about Super Star now.
  20. Only when she's being nuked by a Blue Shell. ...What? I hate the Baby characters. This is quite possible proof that I have no soul. I dunno, I rather like the Wii Wheel. I've gone through both 50 and 100cc using it and I'll probably go for 150cc with it too. It may not be the most *optimal* experience, but damned if it isn't more tactile and more fun. *Shrugs*
  21. Quoted for truth, even though I hate the little blighters.
  22. I predicted this one. Yahtzee's not exactly the type of gamer who would like this sort of game. It's painfully obvious from his No More Heroes review that he hates random things in games (in that case the random chance for a superpower when you mangle someone's face off), and considering Brawl, and Smash in general, in fact, is all about random stuff and chaos, it only stands to reason that he'd dislike that element. Also as he stated in his review, he hates basing games off their multiplayer, hence another reason why he'd hate Brawl. The game is at its strongest with four people angrily wailing the everloving snot out of each other. Moreover, other reviews shows he carries a bit of a bias against the Wii, which is perfectly fine, it's just something you have to take into account when watching his reviews for games on the consoles. I have to be honest, this review wasn't so much a review of the game as it is a primer in Yahtzee's taste in games. Which is all fine and dandy because we get a good laugh out of it, but it's not really a reliable review for the material or qualities of the game. The only comments we get are briefly about Subspace Emissary and they're not all that deep or helpful. Now, to be fair, he has a point about Snake and Sonic not being available from the get-go, considering how much of the hype machine they made up. Though, to bring up a counterpoint, he neglected to do his damn research to find that you can unlock Sonic, his example, in three or four different ways. Beating Classic Mode with 10 characters takes like, an hour, maybe two if you're new to the game, instead of brawling for 10 hours. That said, his smartass remarks were still on course, so the review was still funny, if nothing else. It just wasn't one of his better ones in terms of any sort of depth.
  23. I picked up Audiosurf today and I'm having a lot of fun with it, though I'm still only playing on Casual. It's a great experience and was totally worth the money. It's so simple it's addicting. For the record, some of the music from like, Mega Man games are really fun to play on this. The ZX games in particular tend to be quite fun to play on because of their fast paced nature.
  24. WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness. There's the money cheat, I don't remember the second one, the wood cheat, invulnerability/instagib cheat, fast build, and map reveal. While we're on the topic, StarCraft: PowerOverwhelming ShowMeTheMoney OperationCwal ThereIsNoCowLevel BlackSheepWall And various others. But to respond to the first post in the thread, the Debug Mode in Sonic 1 is UP-C-DOWN-C-LEFT-C-RIGHT HOLD A-START until level begins. Or if the level select comes up, pick your stage, and then hold A-START until that begins.
  25. One issue I had on my computer was that with the standard shooting animation. When the projectile is created on my screen, it is generated over Tan's body rather than at her hand. Simply, the origin point for the shot seems too far back relative to the hand. This is especially obvious if you hold the spacebar down to shoot shots consecutively.
