  1. Am I the only one that thought the topic title was an oxymoron?
  2. Oh, there are vocals, I'm just not sure I'm at the inclination to show the other half of the track. This was mixed with Random's Splash Woman track as a bonus track on his Megaran 9 album. I'm not exactly satisfied with the track as is though, so I'm trying to clean the track up some more and submit it to OCR.
  3. http://www.cafe-blue.com/shadix/finalsplash4.mp3 The mix has evolved so much this almost warrants a new topic. Any advice?
  4. Not based on the pictures you've chosen, but I definitely see it in the google image results. He's like Harmony is to Liontamer.
  5. If you're confident enough with your mix just sub it. While it might sound like a horrible thing to get no'd you'll leave with way more constructive feedback than this topic is going to get you. Sure, you'll have to wait, but if you want the judges opinion put it in front of the judges.
  6. yes, some of the clips of the original music is actually on Youtube, but really... I remember playing the game and thinking "damn this Diamond Dust thing makes me think someone just took one of the mistranscribed midis off vgmusic and took out everything but the lead) It still astonishes me that that actually was the case
  7. Not to throw in an inappropriate plug, however this track was used in the release of Christmas Chaos, which you could find here. http://xmaschaos.cafe-blue.com Also Darkesword this track is awesome, from the "oh god not another icecap remix" misconception to the epicness of the track itself.
  8. vocals are back, DnB infusion, etc. Sure I like what I hear right now, but sometimes I can't help but wonder if I'm starting to overwork this piece instead of just finish it. XD
  9. Since it's industrial you should try and come up with a clever pun to work in the construction aspect of warcraft into it. "Need more lumber!"
  10. I'm not exactly sure what hardware produces this sound, but it seems to get used an awful lot in contemporary jazz material. I'm not even sure if it's technically an organ haha. I apologize if this thread ends up being really retarded, I'm just trying to look for a good software solution for this sound. It's a very mellow, round sound and is usually used as a smooth rhythm accompaniment with a very melody driven bass, however makes for a really beautiful sounding solo instrument. http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01440/ The chordal rhythm, and the little freestyle melodies at -3:08 It's in the background during the verses and becomes more prevailant later in the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AhzX0pou-U
  11. Hey guys, my friend finally sent me a rough draft of the guitar overdub for this. http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/x/xjlt-waterworld.mp3 Not too much has changed, but things are really starting to shape up.
  12. All I have to say is Neko. (Are you and Sixto have a cockfight with this?)
  13. Oh sweet, I remember seeing this more than a year ago. This thing is really coming together haha. If anyone needs vocals recorded I may be able to assist. Some of my stuff: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/c/cwws-Vain_33.mp3 http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/h/hgwx-splashwoman11.mp3 (Vocals are jibberish first take on this one. HAHA) http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/b/brap-tweakerishurt.mp3 http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/g/gfuf-lovesong.mp3 (Crappy Cover haha. This was made a LONG time ago, I've improved since then.)
  14. This is quite possibly the most amazing thing I've ever heard. Haha Perhaps I've just really wanted to hear someone to remix something from Warcraft 2. (I saw it on the frontpaged and was like OHHH YEAHHHHHH) I can't wait to see where this goes. It'd be nice to hear the melodies develop a bit more, because right now, while the effect is satisfying, it's like "phat beat", source, "more phat beat", source. Maybe do a bit more with the phat beat sections melodically to keep the tension level up. (I don't know though.)
  15. haha, I thinks that probably because the mix dies at 2:00. It's sortof where I quit working on it save for the piano segment. I need to do some work to keep up the energy there and climax it without it getting too repetitive. The vocals might help.
  16. http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/j/janq-splashwoman_mix2.mp3 I worked on the mixing. No vocals in this version. The guitar about to be dubbed. Can anyone give me some advice on maybe how I could vary the sound up a bit more and get the balancing right, because it still feels off. I apologize the song kindof breaks apart halfway through. (It's moreso random idea I want to implement)
  17. It's a shame James Labrie sucks balls at singing haha. Coincidently, Dream Theater drives me to tears with their amazingness. XD Seriousness though, I had this one experience that, while not tear producing, puts me into a strange set of consciousness. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it was like midnight on the bow of a cruise ship. I had a full view of the ocean, with the moon shining down eerily on the horizon. Alice In Chains was the band, the effect was encapsulating. It was an almost supernatural experience haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9JtUkeeLEk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5vmQjUq21Y The Xenogears soundtrack also had some songs in the playlist... June Mermaid Good god even listening to these songs now I want to tear up.
  18. I was worried at first with the chip tune effects, thinking that was the whole mix (that said the way you wrote the piano creates a really nice flow), but then the blazing guitars kicked in and all I could do was get this huge grin on my face. I'm really liking it so far!
  19. I absolutely love the intentional low-fi sounds. I think once the vocals are on this (are you going for something daft punk-like? Because thats the vibe the song gives me), you are going to have a pretty submission-worthy track.
  20. Does OCR not have a forum for trying to start collabs? I was considering using the ReQuest board but wasn't sure if it was out of the boards jurisdiction, given that I am moreso offering a "service" than requesting one. Basically I want to be seen as an option for vocalists in a collab scenario.
  21. Rozo: Overdoing autotune is "in" right now though, just listen to Lil Wayne. By layers, you mean like adding more instruments? I was kindof going for a laid back, minimal style, because in the past I always end up having way too much crap going on at one time. What do you think I should add to thicken the sound up a bit. (I actually just fixed it a bit, the bassline for whatever reason decided to disappear once the rhythm came in haha.) Regarding lyrics, maybe I didn't state it well enough here, but there aren't lyrics haha. There isn't anything decipherable because I'm really just mumbling the first word, syllable or random line that comes to mind. It helps me get a vocal line down and then I can go in and modify whatever jibberish I said into something meaningful, the same way you would go about changing the lyrics to a commercial song when you want to make a parody.
  22. haha, you know, I actually want to do Jewel Man's song next. It's laid out perfectly for a vocal track.
  23. http://www.cafe-blue.com/shadix/finalsplash4.mp3 Pretty up to date version, we rewrote everything, rerecorded, slowed it down, etc. OLD: (Watch this mix transform) WIP6: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/fileshack/t/tilp-splashnewshit2.mp3 WIP51:http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/q/qzyy-waterworld9.mp3 WIP52:http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/d/dzdo-waterworld5.mp3 WIP53:http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/x/xjlt-waterworld.mp3 WIP4: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/j/janq-splashwoman_mix2.mp3 WIP3: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/h/hgwx-splashwoman11.mp3 WIP2: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/k/kref-splashwoman10.mp3 WIP1: http://www.tindeck.com/audio/filestore/s/sbjd-splashwoman7.mp3 Source: I dunno, I just got this idea like two days ago, imagining what Splash Woman would sound like if it was hiphopped out. It's still pretty early, and I plan to get a friend to overdub the acoustic guitar, but look, a Megaman 9 remix even though MM9 has only been around for maybe a day? Don't mind the vocals, they are also placeholder until I export to Sonar. What I do when I draft vocals is overdub a track in FL Studio's very limited audio recording tools and mumble jibberish.
  24. haha, it would be awesome to use it in a live rig. Good grief, the raw power.
