Actually, my family told me the same, they said I was not gonna be using my keyboard for more than a few weeks. They were so wrong:)

Having trouble with guitar stuff...
Jens Wulvik replied to Kruai's topic in Music Composition & Production
Well, you have Musiclab Realstrat as well. It's easier to make it sound good, but it will not sound as good as Prominy LPC in heavy metal stuff. It is though much better when it comes to rythm guitar. -
Get an extra harddrive?
-
2nd that! I often even use it instead of VSTi's I've payed for! It also got some other really nice instruments, I especially think the drums are really good as they are free.

You're not alone, I hear frequencies all up to 21 kHz, wich is kinda neat and annoying. It's neat because it means my ears work good, but it's annoying as I'm even able to hear some annoying sounds, like ultra-sound devices. (Those who are supposed to scare away mice and rats. I doubt that they really scare away any animals, but they sure annoy me....there's lots of these noisy shits where I work)

Donkey Kong Country 2 Hive WIP

Maybe lot of the vocals are in the center channel? If so you can just invert the phase of either left or right channel and play it in mono, that way you remove the center channel.

Obtaining/Extracting vocals?
Jens Wulvik replied to Codename46's topic in Music Composition & Production
Exactly! MP3 will for example usually not help you much....you need the CD tracks to make it sound clean. But if you got both the instrumental and the full song on original CDs, you will get very nice and clean results. If you don't believe me, try output two version of your own works, and mute an instrument in one of them. Then mix them together, with the phase inverted in one of them. -
Obtaining/Extracting vocals?
Jens Wulvik replied to Codename46's topic in Music Composition & Production
They do actually extract the vocals from the original song. Let me explain how: If you have two soundwaves playing at the same time, which are both identical except they are going in the opposite direction, you will not hear any sound. Now how it works with extracting vocals: If you have both the instrumental and the original song playing at the same time, while one of them have been inverted you will only hear the differencies in those two songs, which is the vocal. By the way, you should have the CD tracks for this, not MP3's as the bad quality of MP3s will give you problems to make this work. Maybe I explained difficult..... EDIT: I guess those "professional" remixers ask the producers of the original songs to get the vocal track. I don't really know anything about that business... -
Maybe.....who cares

Can't get 24 bit sound to work.
Jens Wulvik replied to Jens Wulvik's topic in Music Composition & Production
I've figured out why 24 bit sound wouldn't work. It only works in ASIO mode. EDIT: By activate, I meant like registering the product. From Native Instruments support: Question: What can I do to optimize the USB connection between my computer and the the Audio Kontrol 1? Answer: It is recommended to disable power management to the USB hubs if you are on a Windows machine, to assure that the Audio Kontrol 1 receive enough power to work properly. XP turns this on by default. Go to device manager (Control Panel/system/hardware) and right click a USB hub to bring up properties. On the power management page, uncheck all boxes. Repeat for each hub and reboot. Did that help you? -
Can't get 24 bit sound to work.

Hmm.....appearently that wasn't the solution for my problem. The problem is back so I still want some help. I will also try to ask for support from Native Instruments. -
Can't get 24 bit sound to work.
Jens Wulvik replied to Jens Wulvik's topic in Music Composition & Production
I had to activate the control panel, yes. That is pretty wierd, as the manual tells me it don't need the activation for functionality. -

It seems to be working now, after I activated it. -
Can't get 24 bit sound to work.
Jens Wulvik replied to Jens Wulvik's topic in Music Composition & Production
I've tried to look for an option like that, but the control panel only let me change latency and sample frequenzy. -
I just bought the 'Native Instruments Audio Control 1', and I've experienced a problem. I know this sound device can take 24 bit sound, but when I set my host to 24 bit, it tells me that the sound device is incompatible, and resets it to 44 khz, 16 bit sound. I'm using Cakewalk Sonar 6. Anyone who can help me??

For me "Sexy" just isn't the word for something related to the classical orchestra.

SNES music, any way produse such music?
Jens Wulvik replied to jobro's topic in Music Composition & Production
Never heard of that. I think you're thinking about the program that converts SPC into IT. I may tell you more later of you want, but now I have to go to bed. -
Hi, I've done a new song which I would like to get some comments on. The music genre used is a bit hard to tell, it sounds pretty similar to the kind of music you hear in Simcity 4. http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/7/28/145427/Jens%20Wulvik%20-%20A%20Long%20Travel.mp3 The sampled electric guitar you hear will be replaced by a live recording soon, I have a friend working on that. You might hear a one minute part close to the end where there's not much going on, that part is reserved for a guitar solo. Please listen to it and tell me what you think, thank you.

Music Program Suggestions
Jens Wulvik replied to EternalWrath's topic in Music Composition & Production
I would suggest Cakewalk Sonar. It is not so difficult to use, and it does suit for almost any style. It comes with Edirol Hyper Canvas ( a pretty good GM module) and a sweet set of studio effects. By the way, you say you want to make musics in different styles, right? Then I would suggest that you get the VSTi: 'Steinberg Hypersonic'!! Steinberg Hypersonic is a very good all in one sound module, you better check it out.
