That episode of Stargate was on the other day. When watching it, I had the exact same thought.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (SPOILERS)
Lotd2242 replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Time travel always results in a headache. I knew Weaver wasn't "bad", but I'm not sure where this whole non-Skynet terminators thing is going. Did some of them just up and decide warring with the humans was wrong? -
Well don't worry. The new movie will completely erase all of that and turn it into one protracted episode of 90210.

zircon in Heroes (4/10 - and the Wheelman)
Lotd2242 replied to Theory of N's topic in General Discussion
That's pretty cool. Congratz Zircon! -
Well it was only going to be like a half-hour long originally. I think they managed to stuff about as much fanservice as you can into a movie while still having some coherence. I would've liked a little more plot development, but really Advent Children is just the missing ending to FFVII so it's understandable they didn't bother to waste any time on the supporting cast.
-
That's surprising. I haven't even heard him use it at conventions and other off-the-cuff engagements. Amanda Tapping (Carter) I have though. She also uses it in her show Sanctuary.
-
Nobody said they couldn't. However, putting "British preferred" when listing the characters to audition for seems to indicate you want a British accent not a British citizen. You'll note in my previous reply I refer to regionalized/non-regionalized accents as a means to clarify this potential misconception so that everyone's on the same page. Also, David Hewlett (McKay) though born in the UK is actually a Canadian and has been for most of his life.

Sorry I did not mean to imply sarcasm. I wish the best for people undertaking the endeavor. Wouldn't want people stomping all over my Chrono Trigger movie script before they read it, so I'm not really into criticizing people trying to make a project happen. I personally never pictured any of the characters as having an accent (outside of Japanese), and while some of the translations in the English dub of AC make me want to throw something at my TV, I really didn't have much of a problem with the voice actors' performance. One thing I might point out though is if the intention is to get a "unique" character presence by using an accent that is regionalized in some way, then it would be contrary to that goal for half the cast to have that particular feel. Unless the uniqueness is to come from the few that are an American/non-regionalized accent?

I see. Well good luck with that.
-
I'm curious as to why all the emphasis on "British" accents?
-
That's a major misconception. Tom Cruise is not the Last Samurai. The Last Samurai is Ken Wantanabe's character.
-
It's not Dragonball when Goku is afraid of a fight.

I always figured Lucca was pretty straight forward as "Luka", technically with a little extra "k" sound to be "Luk" "ka". Marle is "Marl" with the silent e. We had a thread about it a few months back. That's probably the weirdest to say of the bunch. What about Ayla? I always I assumed it's "ay" as in day as opposed to "aye, captain."
-
Actually until the post-DBZ anime craze, I never heard it pronounced any other way. I still have to catch myself from time to time because of that.
-
The real question is, how many people actually pronounce it properly?
-
So, another curiousity I had regarding script changes (since I don't own a DS), did they change the names back to the originals? I.E. the Gurus, Ozzie/Slash/Flea?
-
But the fact that it's a butchery of Old English is why it seemed to fit him perfectly. Despite totally having no faith in himself and not being nobility (and being a Frog to boot), he's trying to be this ultra-formal, strict-honor-code-following knight so he's speaking in thys and thous while everyone else is speaking normally.
-
So they took away his English accent after all? That's too bad. I know he didn't speak very formally in the Japanese version, but I always felt it worked with his character speaking that way and nobody else. It was as if he was overcompensating for feeling like he was unworthy of being a knight.
-
Then he fits the bill of your average Hollywood director/producer perfectly.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
Lotd2242 replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
That's because of three things: 1. Manfacturing gets cheaper and faster over time. 2. Considerably greater purchasing base than ever before. 3. Ever increasing array of game studios forces greater competition and drives the price down. -
The hitboxes on that thing are so unfathomably terrible. I tried playing as Tails but he gets hit from a good inch in front of him.
-
Why not? Anything goes in this cosmic dare.
-
Nah, I got the joke. It was a bad one that could've been a good one if Spike used Kung Fu or some unknown mishmash of fighting styles downloaded into his brain.
-
That would be worth something if it weren't for the fact that Spike uses Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do.
-
There goes all hope that this movie won't be a complete and utter suckfest.
