  1. (edit)Rock and Metal are my fav's of "mainstream", and I like me some DJ Shadow. Not as familiar with mainstream shit honestly. At least to me, VGM is truly what keeps musac alive. The most creative aspects of it anyhow. BTW, I submitted an entry. Hope you like. (edit2) As a caveat I'm well aware that VGM draws from more conventional (and otherwise) sources, but I mean, I may as well be saying the grass is green and the sky is made of Mountain Dew. Mmmm Diabeetus.
  2. I appreciate good music in general - even country if it isn't the mainstream LOST MUH TRUCK and I MARRIED MUH SCEPTIC TANK (dunno where I'm going with that). The genre is moot so long as there is room for evolution. But it's always nice when there is a very "loose" mold (or mould?) to work with; gives me more room to add new textures and rhythmic varieties.
  3. TheVideoGamer is Winner. 6 points to my 4. Congrats. *sniffle* So much for Phantasy Star Month is July T_T PM me for round 104! Comments: Feedback already submitted in vote. Cya guys next round!
  4. Welcome to the Voting Stage! There are 2 entries this round. There is 0 Bonus entry this round There is NOT a voter bonus this round. Mr. L has a 2x vote. Don't vote for Bonus entries please. Participants may not vote for themselves. Vote ends July 12 Fri @ 11PM Comments Well, I figure I may as well jockey for round 104's source pick, so I'm in. It's me VS TheVideoGamer. May the best remixer win.
  5. Yo, VideoGamer, since you love this style (like me), you should really check out Phantasy Star 4's OST. There's a few tracks very similar to this style, like the intro scene and a boss fight. Oh, and Streets of Rage
  6. 20 hours to go. 2 entries. Let's see at least 1 more entry >: 3
  7. I'm a simple man. I see a DKC remix. I download. And it happens to be source tunes that are less represented. This is beautiful work <3 (edit) I should do a meddley like this for the OCR X-Mas Album, this is inspiring!
  8. Couldn't help myself. Had the word psycho in it. So surely it's relevant!! >: 3
  9. WTF man. Tried to submit vote but it all went white and when I checked Admin section to see if vote went through, nada, didn't register. I miss the old format of ThaSauce T_T ...seemed to have less of these hiccups and shit. Well, vote is awash give that its only 2 viable entries, so I'll just PM comments to Bunda so as not to break the golden rule of no comments until after voting period.
  10. Finally, a tune where my style can truly shine. Muahahaha >: 3 Side note: I think I got as far as the Penguin stage for Batman & Robin. I'm sad that I never got up to this point, b/c this tune is killer. Holy shit.
  11. Snuck in my own entry through the backdoor, coughing up dust and cobwebs. Good to see we have a diverse swath of genres here lol. This will be an interesting vote. Oh...York is a BONUS...for shame. Hopefully someone else will get something in. @TheVideoGamer "...but i somehow lost my project when working on this, and i don't really want to do it again." -BRUH, this hits me where I live. I've lost at least 3 GOOD project files (2 remixes and 1 original tune) and can never recapture the magic again. I'll weep a tear for you T_T
  12. Hopefully this sentiment won't be shared by the panel. I have to disagree. There is notational edits at many parts (0:11, 0:37-0:52 for example). 0:55 to 1:33 the rhymic notation and operatic-ish support lead is quite different from the source material. Again, 2:22 to 2:42, there is rhythmic alterations (especially with the organ-like electric keyboard). NVM on last prior bit that I had to remove...don't want to undermine my own chances lmao (edit2-run on) I had to timestamp all this crap to clear things up. Hope you don't mind Also, let me add that conservative stuff - conservative medleys included - this awesome remix have passed before. So... I hope this opinion doesn't color the other J's perspectives too dramatically. And thanks for the comments. Best wishes.
  13. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) MIDI: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP103_BL_wr64_sunnybeach.mid Youtube: It's indeed round #103, and I really appreciate the honor of picking the source tune! I read the last post you made for round #102, and I was hoping it wouldn't come to that; I was eager to see what StudioPandaParis would pick (and he won his first MnP, which was freakin' awesome ). Again, thank you for letting me pick the source. It's below. --- Last time, we visited the gorgeous Ruby Sea as spring gave way to summer. So, let's keep going with the beach themes - it's now summer time, after all! With that, I would like to submit Sunny Beach from Wave Race 64 as the source for round #103! -Mr L Deadline: July 9 Tues @ 1PM Vote Ends: July 12 Fri @ 11PM Submit your remix Here when completed. MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Please don't make any comments about people's entries - including your own - until the Voting process is concluded. BONUS entries are exempt of this rule. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)
  14. I'm giving StudioPandaParis 3 more days (June 7th) to submit me a source tune for round 103, otherwise I'm handing the pick to pick to Mr. L. Of picky picking pickerness.
  15. Results StudioPandaParis got 1st with 9 points. HoboKa got 2nd with 8 points. Mr L got 3rd with 6 points. StudioPandaParis PM me the source tune for round 103 Comments StudioPandaParis - nice light jazz interpretation - wish I had thought of trying out doing a cocktail *brush-kit or something. Really good production and a very MnP take in all the right ways. Mr L - I really enjoyed the crystal keyboard vibes. Some very smooooth synths in here.
  16. NVM. Looks like my vote went through. 3rd time's a charm! Regardless, in light of the glitch I encountered earlier, I will extend voting period to June 1st 11PM! If anyone has issues posting a vote, let me know via PM and I will sort it out. Gah. Editing votes and rounds is a real pain. Won't be able to input my reasoning into ThaSauce. So I will do so on June 2nd.
  17. Welcome to the Voting Stage! There are 3 entries this round. There is 0 Bonus entry this round There IS a voter bonus this round. Kat has a vote worth 2x (whoops, I forgot to edit out the (tasteless) round 100 flare text for Bundeslang's 2x vote - sorry Kat!) Don't vote for Bonus entries please. Participants may not vote for themselves. Vote ends May 31st 11PM comments Better turn out than expected for a more "obscure" source tune. I had a blast remixing this tune, even if I had rushed it a bit lmao.
  18. Man that takes me back. Lotta memories there.

  20. Alroiighty I submitted 1 craptastic MIDI rip as promised. Beats nada right? Had to edit the round so I could squeeze my fat ass in there. Kat is WINNER. Please submit source tune for round 102!
  21. Phantasy Star IV needs moar representation. Nice ambient/electro remix there. Nice work m8, this is gr8 would rate 8/8. Loving the flutes and brilliant use of Sytrus Pads too!! Great percussion/drums. Man this is awesome. "Sakura Storm" kinda reminds me of Symphony of the Night in terms of aesthetic. Nice work! PS, I'm thinking of subb'ing my DIo Remix, I'll need to get it evaluated in the WIP forum first... But you can hear it on my Soundcloud!!
  22. Eh, fuck it. I'll probably do a MIDI rip of the Roller Coaster Tycoon. That way everyone gets representationeruuuuuuuu dikfuk
