  1. Speaking of abstract and atmospheric Super Metroidness, Trism and Dex did a pretty good job of capturing the atmosphere of Maridia, last year. You should check it out APZX! And everyone else lmao. https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP111
  2. Cutting vote period short so we still hit X-Mas day, but end a day after PRC, so time's *do not* overlap exactly. Wow dat typo..
  3. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) Feels kinda funny to be doing this again. My choice for the next source is Secret of Mana's track "A Wish" (also known as the frosty forest or ice-crystal fields), a dreamily simple track that plays while fighting wolves and spear-wielding turtles through a lovely ice-crystal field. A bit minimalistic, but enchanting. -Souperion Deadline: Dec 23rd @ 1PM Vote Ends: Dec 27th (sun) @ 1 PM MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism submit: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP120 MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Source-Picks are limited to the era of gaming 1984-2006. In other words, Nes/Sega Master to PS2/GC/XBox 1. Going to relax this rule with certain Indie Titles like Shovel Knight, Undertale and possibly Crypt of the Necrodancer. Update me upon further titles that have that 'Retro Fidelity'. Thanks! Modifying the Source is fine, so long as it doesn't sound completely separate from its original intent. Small tempo changes are OK. But not 140 to 80 etc. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Try to avoid making quality-based comments on submissions until after the Round is concluded. It is to avoid a Bias in Votes. MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make people's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)
  4. Well, @The Vodoú QueenI hope you're feeling a bit better. I didn't feel I was able to back the underdog's horse (publicly) this time around. Last year, I did that and it didn't end so well. More sensibilities were hurt than mended, I'll tell you that much. Glad to see you guys are very positive and constructive.
  5. Definitely a well-earned victory. Congrats dude! Yup, something wintery. See you next mission.
  6. See you next mission, boss. Also...NickC's entry sounded mostly fine on my Sony Headphones, but after voting, I went onto my Laptop with my Maxwell headphones and got a much muddier picture....So it was probably a very controversial vote to put in #1...Maybe I'm worrying too much. Just thought I'd put that caveat out there in case people had the 'Maxwell' experience when placing their vote, as it were. Plus, I DID say that medleys are fine this round.
  7. Results Souperion got 1st with 19 points. Dex got 2nd with 14 points NickC got 3rd with 13 points. APZX got 4th with 11 points. The Voduo Queen got 5th with 9 points. Wassup Thunder got 6th with 7 points. **To newcomers: The Final Scores on Compoverse do NOT reflect Final Score on Results Page!! This is because Website doesn't take into account Voter Bonuses and manually editing it is a big pain in the butt that I won't get into...unless things were recently streamlined and I'm out of the loop... [EDIT]Souperion please PM me with your source pick for Round 120. Make it Winter-Themed, if possible. Comments Wow, amazing turnout and an interesting opinion on who was the MnP-ist of them all. This was an awesome round. Maybe next year I'll do this style of round with another popular franchise...
  8. Love the OST of Tiberium Sun!! I know you didn't really specifically ask for feedback, but I got some stuff to say...This is more like fan-boy nitpicks than actual OCR critique though...so really take it with a grain of salt... I get why you went for a more melodic and straight-to-the-point vibe, but I miss the more pushed-back, slow to evolve, ambient feel of the source. I think the tempo is quicker than the source, whcih might annoy some Tiberium Sun purists, but ehh... 4:47 lead synth thingy is cool, at least I like it a lot. The bassline following the kick drum with some ad-libs along the chords is an OK approach, but some cameos with the 1/8 doot-doot- bass-line rhythm would be awesome.
  9. Well, that was the motivational image that I needed. Now to look up Samus lewds. The turnout here was amazing, btw. 6 viable entries...wow I am honored guys. Good luck tomorrow!
  10. Oh boy. I'm dreading voting. 2X Voting Power...2X the responsibility. Someone is gonna be elated. Someone is gonna be feeling down. My feedback is kinda shit, but I will do my best...just gotta put myself in a productive mindset. Like walking a tight-rope over Adam's Control Room, who is Not Authorizing me to vote. X_X
  11. Welcome to the Voting Stage! There are 6 entries this round. There is 2 Bonus entry(s) this round There IS a voter bonus this round! HoboKa have a vote worth 2x. Muahahah When Voting, please don't be inflexible when considering the conservative approach. Don't vote for Bonus entries please. Participants may not vote for themselves. Vote ends on PINGAS day. (I accidentally edited this one instead of copy/pasting to next round LOL)
  12. Hyper Beam! Oh well. Maybe we know which source tune you'll pick when next you win hardy har har.
  13. I submitted a BONUS and it's not a cover, as promised. Yay me. Don't vote for it, or Dark Samus will Corrupt you into an Other M Authorized Edition. Nobody wants that!!
  14. I haven't spoiled most of the round for myself either. I tend to wait for the Voting Stage...I've only listened to VQ's entry so far and it is a sign that this round'll be one to write home about...Totally didn't break the golden rule there. Anyhooo... Time for me to slip into my skin-tight Samus Zero Suit and finish up my Rundas Remix...Preferably with all the mirrors covered. 4 days to go to finish up and ride the Hype Train to Metroid Glory!! The baby. The baby. The BABY...DAMNIT OTHER M!! Not again!! Now where did I put my Ritalin?
  15. It's alright. Up to you, it's just a guideline, really. Not a huge No-No like voting for yourself. Occasionally, very rarely we get outside Voters. That's why PRC and MnP try to incentivize people to vote, but it only works if there is 3 or more entries (People who vote get a +3 score, but again, it only works if we got at least 3 viable entries). For 2 Entry rounds, regulars who didn't submit something, sometimes hop in to vote. Not gonna name them, so I don't shame the ones who don't bother to Lmao. Crap I am so tired. Arg. Can't sentence-make. Self Sabotage is my middle name** Nvm the self comparison comment I had here before... Now is a time for more self reflection and anxiety than ever before. Take care of yourself VQ! :3
  16. Huh, I was about to quote my first-post Rule Page, but I realized that I neglected to add the stipulation: "Try to avoid making comments about other people's submissions until the Voting Process concludes"...But that's my bad for not putting it in there. Bundeslang relies on that Rule for PRC, it's to avoid seeding ideas into people's minds that someone's work isn't as good as the rest, which can create a Voter Bias of a sort. Thanks for reminding me haha. Also, win or lose, I hope our feedback is helpful. If not, then hopefully you'll have had at least a bit of fun. Nobody here really goes by the expectation of winning, otherwise, I think they'd have dropped out a long time ago. You'll find your groove and rest assured, you'll win something. Can't really force it. I used to think this way at PRC until Bundeslang gave me roughly the same pep talk. (edits) I hope this helps and try to stay sane in this crazy ass time we live in.
  17. Looks accurate, but I have to check the back-end, on my PC. But Front-End says: Deadline: 3 days, 11 hours.....(Edit) Except I put it down as Deadline: Nov 30th Mon @ 1PM at the Compo Thread. And yes, it is so good to see APZX come back. You too Dex uWu. It's like old times. Geetars rock. Side Note: For my own BONUS entry update, I might have to submit a half-finished WIP if I run out of time: I'm on the wrong sleep schedule and have picked up a ((secret)) project tune on the sly as well...so things are weird. Rundas' theme isn't exactly something I just want to cover 1:1 and call it a day...I shoulda started working on it last week. Shit..... EDIT 2) OK, so I fixed the Dates to match...I might extend the voting process by another day, if people are struggling to fit it in on time, since the Christmas round is coming up...which is another slightly rigid schedule. Anyhow, CompoVerse is now Nov 30 as the front page advertises. Looks like Souperion snuck in an entry too, Nice!.
  18. I'm not in the list mew hew. Am I on Santa's Naughty list? >.< (Edit) I see me now. Yay!
  19. It's 8PM and I just woke up. Good time to be on Tokyo time...crap. This is going to be an interesting week.
  20. Eh, it's on time. Quicker than me too! Next monday, for sure I'll start working on it. Hehe.
  21. We got another submission! 8 days to go lads. Time for me to get to work on my BONUS de sei.
  22. Wow, this is some ASMR inducing atmosphere going on here. Oh man...I can't wait to hear more after that spooky transition effect. I think that'd be a good point to do some discreet original touches, if you're aiming to get posted. Make sure to time-stamp all changes, since this is, thus far, a very conservative remix. Please make this one longer! uWu
  23. There's been an influx of cool handheld games, like R H...I got burnt out trying to keep up with 'em though. Handheld JRPGs just lose my attention too quick, sadly. Emulating them might work...but I seem to prioritize metroidvania games over JRPGs these days. Meh. Maybe I'll check out R H's OST BTW, I just found out today that Unity doesn't do payouts until you hit $100 (couldn't tell if that is a recent policy update...). So "a few bucks" is probably a stupid idea...maybe this is designed to reduce the Low Value Low-Ballers who're devaluating the market too much... That said, I think you've got the potential to make a pretty sick Audio Asset Package, if you don't like commission work. That's what I'm doing hehe. That's why you don't hear many originals from me these days. Very hush-hush.
