  1. OH! I gave it a second read, that'd be stupid easy to do, even for me hah. The alternating velocities SHOULD actually register as being softer...if not, I guess it means a better sample eh? But the longer notes could be done. There isn't really a [A D S R] Mod on Aria Player, but I might be able to do something with mod wheel or something. In theory.
  2. Hey, thanks for feedback! I'll copy it down for future reference if I ever get back to it. (EDIT) It's gonna be an uphill battle for me, but your feedback may help put wind in my sails. If not, I'm content to drift too. Got so many remixes...>.<
  3. This reminds me of some stuff during the PS2 and GameCube era. Kind of has a Wild Arms meets Xenogears vibe. There's a lot of applications for this tune. You should slap it on Unity or something and make a few bucks off it. Whether you position yourself as premium content or low shelf content is up to you. Couldn't tell if the tune is loopable or not, but I think it won't be too hard to do if not. As for the production quality, I think it's mixed OK, and the articulations are at least mid-tier indie game quality. Those bells are especially good. (edits)
  4. For Better Rendering Results With an instance of Play (East/West VST), at the very top of the Box, open the Detailed Settings>VST Wrapper Settings and move the Input port to 1. For every instance of Play, it'd be Input port 2, 3 etc. But try to keep at most 2 instances at any time. Every instrument that you load into your Play VST should have a designated channel. Try to avoid Omni, unless you don't mind layering sounds etc. Create a MIDI OUT channel for every channel you have. On the top of the MIDI Out Box, you'll see channel at the top left and Port on the top right. Make sure that the Port is set to 1, so it receives information from the Play VST. All of your instrumental MIDI data should be on the MIDI OUT Channels, not the Play VST. Put Play onto a Mixer Insert of your choosing. Then create another Mixer Channel called BUS. Then with the Play Mixer Channel selected, hover over the tiny knob at the bottom of your BUS Mixer Insert, once it lights up, right click it. Select route to this track only. This way, the Master Track isn't interacting with Play VST, which is noted to cause a lot of rendering issues. I personally turn off Ensure Processor State in Playback in Processing (but ONLY for Play (East/West). But sometimes I Bridge the VST. Play it by ear, if you get trouble. Make sure you're using ASIO4All. Unless you're MAC. Accessing MOD Wheel and Expression Controller. Caveat: I only know how to select the Omni or MIDI 1 of any MIDI controller per Channel. So this is a half-measure at best, but it works nonetheless. There are probably some MIDI Out tricks you can do to get better results. But I haven't looked too deeply into that. View>Browser>Current Project>Generators. Find Play (East/West VST). Left click it. Scroll ALL the way down to the Grey, Translucent Midi CC's. IGNORE ALL THE White parameters! Typically CC#1 is the Modulation Wheel. CC#11 is the Expression Controller. Right click on the CC#1 and select Edit Events in Piano Roll. Go to the Piano Roll, at the bottom Left, where Control is, you now have a new Note Property, called CC#1 Modulation Wheel! Now you can go crazy! Same process with CC#11. Enjoy! THIS is why sometimes, I need 2 instances of Play, since I can only access Channel 1 / Omni for Editing Events. Kinda sucks, but that's why I like to use the BUS + Midi Out processing strategy, so you can reduce the power hogging effect of Play VST.
  5. @The Vodoú Queen 3) The very reedy, dry flute (@ 3:00) suits the song. I do agree with Soup, but I think more reed instruments could either be included, swapped out between or layered somehow. I feel for contrast, a wet-sounding clarinet or oboe would work well juxtaposing the flute at some point in the song. Or, perhaps, a violin. But I'd stick to woodwind instrumentation. Maybe instead of the flute continuing @ 3:52, try the oboe. Oh...that's what you meant. Derp. That is an interesting thought. I'll have to work it in with the other ideas. Whenever I get the energy and motivation to spare. Still a bit down in the derp-dumps. 5) The triangle 'dink' with the flute and at the end is cute. Sorry had to say it. :3 Dinkin' Doughnuts.
  6. Edited post...don't know if it updates you with a notification every time post is edited. Since my OCD and ADD compel me to edit so frequently. Rip me.
  7. Big Edit I had a long...poorly written list that was not useful. I need to hop back on FL and run thru the process step by step just to jog my memory. Want me to hit you up with a PM later on that?? If not, this here video might solve at least half of the problem. I got a few other "hacks" for Play VST and FL, but they are kinda specific and can't be resolved by a video alone, seeing as some of the info was from random forums that I had to browse. I'm on my Lappy right now. I'll check it out on the PC tomorrow, possibly. Maybe ping me with a reminder?
  8. Gotcha. There should be Expression Mods (they dictate the timber of keyswitches, on top of the Round Robin etc). Dig into the E-manual for your specific libraries and figure out what Controller does that. Or if you have a MIDI keyboard, then fart around with that. Are you using FL Studio like me? If so, you have my sympathies. It's not impossible to do it though. I can help you out in private DM's if so...Otherwise, it's YouTube for you. And probably the much better approach imo.
  9. Wow this is almost Mario RPG good. I can't guarantee a good remix, but I will probably at least make a cool cover/genre swap.
  10. Wow, the strings are bitter and piercing. Perfect October music, just shy of 11 days. I got no feedback for the articulation and production though. Best to leave that to more trained ears. But I love it. (Edit 4000) This reminds me a lot of American McGee's Alice**. BTW, Majora's Mask was a bit too challenging and jank for me, but I'd love to watch a Pro Let's Play of it someday... I LOVE the atmosphere of it (and this remix too!). Oh hey, I caught something robotic that u may want to fix. 3:03-3:13, there is some detach notes that are the exact same velocity and timber. Might want to alter those juuust a tad. I wonder if there are other similar hiccups...might want to go over it with a fine comb. Also, what Orchestral Library(s) are you rolling with?
  11. Nice banner art, Boss Lady.  :3  Lol...Bone Mama instead of Bone Daddy.  Nightmare Before Christmas vibes.

Cheers. ♥ Kind of the idea, tbf. Was trying to brand myself as a sort of strange mix between plague doctor / voodoo Baroness Samedi and the Mexican Day of the Dead-style. It kind of describes my weird on-and-off Gothic personality with the niche exotic flavor of being of the darker persuasion. xD

At least it came out OK. :D

And yeah that, funny enough, fits with some people's nickname for me, which is Big Mama. Boss Lady works too. xD

Oh, right, I thought of Mexican Day of the Dead too...but it didn't quite fit into the joke Q_Q.  I'm on and off with dark dismal shit too.  Like Jordan Underneath is/was.

      Yeah, it looks pro.

      Also: Big Boss Lady?  SNAAAKE!!

      COLONEL! xD

      Glad it does! :D

  12. @The Vodoú Queen If you do wind up needing new transition FX (and you're ready to blast a cap in frustration) gimme a holler. Parenthesis not a requirement haha. I'll need a MIDI to work with, since I'll be needing tempo data etc.
  13. Well, that's useful. For #3, I'll be wanting to keep the flute most-likely, b/c the flute semitone pitch bend thing is a feature that's built in and not necessarily present in all my orchestral samples within Composer Cloud**, not sure how to do it using actual MIDI controllers, beyond 1st party FL synths. FL doesn't play the best with 3rd party DAWs, unless i'm huffing paint. The rest will be easier to do methinks. Thanks for the feedbacks guys. whew...edits.
  14. OK, so the piano 'verb, Flute might be too dry, harp thing is weird at high notes (probably a Layered Texture which could be swapped out or culled via Timber). Thanks for the positive vibes. I'll see what @timaeus222 or @Liontamer or @Gario thinks nudge nudge, hint hint. Tag tag.
  15. Voted. Nice tunes guys. D'oh I forgot to make a comment on TVG's bonus. I'll do it here, hollup. (edit) Cool intro man. Got some Terminator vibes just before the riser. Main segment reminds me of Birdo's boss theme at parts. But that's probably the source's fault. Lmao. Nice intensity here. Lol RIP speakers at the end. Q_Q
  16. Oh, can you share the source tune? That might help give people context on the Remix qualifications / OCR bar stuff. Also, I bumped this to the top by typing this out (obviously...man I am so effing slow today it isn't funny). I hope you get the feedback you need
  17. It's best to make new channels and not simply replace them with a new instrument if you are going to use a MIDI***, also, maybe use a different pattern as the MIDI, to reduce Controller conflicts (edits). And yes...Square plots are weird (but not as dark asAtlus games), but the music is good lol.
  18. bump. Fuck it. Might as well get an opinion on it. lol..
  19. Yup, I think all of us here love Castlevania, Mega Man and Metroid. Both PRC and MNP rounds explode with participation when they get picked. Strangely, same with Parasite Eve. I kinda picture you as a Parasite Eve person. Call it a theory. A GAME THEORY. OW! I just slapped myself. Must be reflex. Glad to see you showing interest in the Compo AND Metroid uWu. Also, that profile pick is kick ass/sick/swag/take your pick. Caveat: When I say "explode with participation", I mean 2-3 more people than normal minimum. Not 20. Didn't mean to exaggerate that much...
  20. Source: Gonna take a stab at this one for Review. I'm more open to altering the actual structure if it's necessary. That includes instrumentation, effects and length if need be. I'm motivated to get this one posted!! Please help! :3
  21. Update: Meddley's are fine for this round. Don't need to worry about making it one inter-locked cohesive thing, just so long as a basic transition between tunes is in place, so there is no ear whiplash. Also, Mixing and Mashing source tunes can work too, so long as the melodies are very recognizable (time-stamp em too!)! We're throwing the baby out with the dish-water I guess, but the cost is worth it... The Baby. THE BABY. EGAD Other M whyyyyy If only I could come up with this joke in one go. But nooo, Edits over 9000
  22. And that is the double-edged sword of this style of round. I figured Metroid is a popular enough IP that it'd get people interested. Hopefully something will come to mind for you Oh, btw, Meddley's are fine for this round. I better put that in the description. Yeah, it messes with the MnP thing, but eh, play it by ear.
