  1. I alternate between both of them - currently Fire Emblem for the Wii, and Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero 3, and Rock Band for the 360.
  2. I seem to remember that there was some stuff you had to go through to get that to work (it was mainly intended for those who still used 56K), but that it isn't like that by default is pretty unacceptable in my book.
  3. Nope, this is data that gets installed to your hard drive - I remember Virtua Fighter 5 did the same stuff, although it didn't take up nearly as much as more recent games have been starting to.
  4. Yep, chalk that up to Sony forcefeeding a new standard in an effort to get people to adopt blu-ray movies over creating a solid console experience. PS3's Blu-ray drive is just too slow compared to the 360's or even the Wii's DVD drive.
  5. Strength in numbers - there are quite more console games people look forward to than PC games that turn out to be quality games yearly. In addition, PC gaming retail presence has shrunk considerably in the past few years because the sales have been on the decline, especially compared to its console counterparts. As for Steam, personally I have to say that I despise it, although it may have changed some since HL2's advent. I remember being incredibly pissed that I had to connect to Steam to play HL2 - I bought the collector's edition close to launch, and I got rewarded with that type of distrust of the consumer. That almost singlehandedly made me decide to quit PC gaming completely for a few years, as it turned to become a part of a larger trend of treading on consumer prerogative in PC gaming. Blizzard never treated me so terribly, and I don't see why the other developers need to do the same.
  6. I need the car for grocery shopping, and just the convenience of general traveling (I lose too much time from shopping and such and using public transportation) - as a graduate student, it sort of is a must. As for the TV, it's to ease eyestrain - I view that as a higher priority than any function I need a desktop for.
  7. Yeah, I'd be building a desktop (I want to do so quite badly, but I also want a 1080p HDTV to ease my eyes and a car sometime later this year) for music listening with massive hard drive space, music making (since I don't really like working with Garageband, and the hard drive limitation hurts sample usage as is), and gaming...I just don't have ~$1500 laying around for such an expense.
  8. Eh, I usually find far more games on console that are worth a play than I find on PC, and the difference in experience hasn't warranted building a PC an incredibly urgent priority, especially with that cost differential (I'd be building the PC for more than just gaming). For example, right now I'm playing Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Planet Puzzle League, while I beat Super Mario Galaxy & Bioshock within the last month. Sure, CoD 4, Bioshock, and GH3 are on PC as well, but GH3 for the PC is kinda bleh (actually, it's the first version of GH3 I got to play), and the latter two games handled just fine for the 360 (not to mention got them cheaper than normal - $40 each). In addition, I got Mass Effect waiting for me...can't say I care about much that got released for the PC this past fall, excepting Hellgate: London.
  9. How did the Patriots deserve the win? The Giants just played much better overall, especially on defense, getting in Brady's face all day and shredding that o-line. What we had here is a Giants team that played hard for the Super Bowl all postseason (and undermanned at Dallas) and won it with good play, not looking fancy, although that one improbable escape by Manning from being sacked and making a tough throw to Tyree into good coverage was heartening.
  10. Well, it has gotten pretty old seeing the Giants make it to the postseason and then failing...but this team just played so well this whole postseason, they really did deserve the win this year.
  11. QFT And damn that was so awesome...the Giants didn't let us NYers down like usual.
  12. I turned off the TV because of halftime...that voice was worsening my headache.
  13. I was going to go to a friend's party, but I got too sleepy from playing tennis early in the morning...so here I am ready to watch the Super Bowl from my apartment. Go Giants!
  14. Laaame at the over remixed reason for dropping a song. Lufia 2 - Battle with Sinistrals: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/LufiaII-SinistralBattle.mid
  15. DarkeSword doesn't have mod powers anymore .
  16. Damn, this thread made me remember staying up till 4 am alone combating the bots before giving up and going to sleep, and waking up to find massive bot spam still undeleted despite a bunch of mods going at it.
  17. I have a hard time listening to DragonForce anymore - basically I just got sick of them, which isn't an uncommon thing from what I've heard from friends. A similar thing happened to me with Rhapsody (of Fire). The bands that have held the test of time the best from what I've found though (in metal) are Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Helloween, and Angra. Their first album is considered the best, Valley of the Damned (especially that title song) - I would pick up the one with the bonus track but that Japanese version is pretty expensive if I remember right. The regular version without that bonus track is cheap though ($12.99 through Amazon). Personally, my favorite tracks by them are Valley of the Damned from the album of the same name and Cry of the Brave, the bonus track from the Sonic Firestorm album. The band has the unusual distinction of putting some bonus tracks that are much better than a lot of the songs on the regular album.
  18. I saw a Gamestop employee here get it to 86%. That's too much GH to me Edit: 86% notes hit - he finished the song, although barely since he almost failed somewhere towards the second half of the song.
  19. This is really reminding me of the fake screenshots of the roster floating around before SSBM came out.
  20. Nope...grad school & drinking with undergrad friends make me feel old though.
  21. Eh, I don't know about it as a must have...Call of Duty 4 so far reigns as king for me this gen, and dwarfs the other FPSs that came out. Also, the Dual Shock analog sticks are in a very strange position, making it a bit awkward for FPSs. Resistance isn't a bad game, but the PS3 controller definitely marred the experience a bit for me.
  22. I play a lot of games - there's just way too many these days, so much so that I'm being cheap atm and trying to refrain from buying more, although there are always games that goad me to break that desire, especially when there's a sale. For example, I recently beat Bioshock, and currently playing Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, and Rock Band (although I've taken a few day hiatus from gaming atm due to comprehensive exams and my incredible class load this semester). I do have a tendency to get tired of gaming though when I play way too much in a short period of time. It's just another example of a time where moderation is good.
