  1. Edit: Oh, this merger is much larger than just Blizzard merging - it's Vivendi Games & Activision.
  2. Some areas of metal seem to stress clean vocals heavily, most notably heavy, progressive, and power metal, genres I have a particular love for because you can do more with clean vocals acceptably than without them (although I will listen to thrash & death metal on occasion). Power & progressive metal are more technical than the other genres, and focus on song concept more than what is found in most other genres across the board since metal fans have some of the most contentious standards for music in general out there. To Azul though, better examples of metal IMO (at least, the generally more popular subgenres of metal) are (Angra - Nova Era), (Kamelot - Memento Mori), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJVQP108eM4 (Dream Theater - Under a Glass Moon), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw77gNrwyr8 (Symphony X - The Odyssey; this is only largely the first 9 minutes of the song - the original song is ~24 minutes long, and unlike most that long, it is a memorable song).
  3. I'll play if there are no bad mannered people in this.
  4. Sure it isn't because you and Larry were bragging about having voted on all of the tracks?
  5. Sometimes strange trends occur within retail, like an abnormally high sale of a console/handheld for a particular week - in general, VGChartz seems to be a fairly good estimate of general numbers, but by no means will it be accurate to a large degree.
  6. VGChartz approximates/predicts the rate of sales, and adjusts at the end of each month according to the monthly figures released, at least for the North American numbers (or in the Japanese case, weekly). As for the consoles, I enjoy them all; I've had addicting times with all 3. I don't see a reason for all of the console bickering, as they all cater to different tastes in many ways, and all have a good degree of legitimacy.
  7. Hm? Most music I listen to is far from symphonic. My very last recommendation is still good though, because despite that particular album being a rock/metal opera, the singing is not operatic by any means - the opera label describes how the music is structured.
  8. Well, most American-made games aren't stylized in a way that Japanese care to play it. I'm not sure where exactly to place my finger on it, but there is a cultural barrier in games there.
  9. So, would Ellis Island really be a good trip to take? It's out of the way, and probably won't hold much value to anyone wanting to hang out. I would rather organize a group ticket purchase to a show like Wintuk than do that, personally speaking. So far, the only thing I see people wanting to do is go to Chinatown Fair...come on, there's gotta be more interesting places of choice than that.
  10. This isn't on XBox Live then I take it? Edit: Err, the level I was thinking of is called Bloc...wow I was off. But man, I love playing CoD 4 with friends on XBL
  11. Are you talking about Dominion or Domination or whatever it's called? I hate that level so much.
  12. Hm, I'll list a few of the bands/artists I've heard and that I'd recommend a look into who use female vocalists to a good degree: Nightwish - the symphonic power metal/opera metal powerhouse of the metal world, they singlehandedly increased the popularity of female fronted metal bands. Currently they feature a non-classically trained singer, although she's competent as well Within Temptation - the symphonic goth metal band. Although their lyrics have gone downhill, their Mother Earth album still remains a great album After Forever - another symphonic goth metal band, they go for a more atmospheric effect compared to the two aforementioned bands. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they're definitely not bad at all. Ayreon - the incredible project of the multitalented Arjen Lucasson, each of his albums sport a good dosage of female vocals in them and definitely worth a listen to anyone looking for the best in rock opera/metal opera (the Human Equation album), or progressive rock/metal (the other albums).
  13. It looks like it's him. Hopefully he's found and not dead Edit: Double pwnt
  14. Damn, I can't wait enough for Tuesday - I got 7 packages coming in, including my Bioshock for 360 that I scored for $40 and my Call of Duty 4 for 360 that I scored for $48. My 360 is gonna get much love.
  15. Bumping it up - any more suggestions for stuff to do?
  16. I've heard of plenty of iPods freezing too, including my brother and I. It's not unique to one player.
  17. Lucky you, my 20 GB 4th gen iPod broke on me 4 times in a little over an year, and my 30 GB 1st gen iPod Video was getting really shitty battery life before getting stolen in under a half an year. As for what I'm asking for for Christmas, I ask for nothing, as usual.
  18. Consider this a warning to all - if I see any more of this drama from anyone, the banhammer is going down.
  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_%28shopping%29 - prepare to weep.
  20. Well, my brother and I have free money available for profiteering...and we abuse it any time we see great times to profit, whether it's the stock market, or reselling.
  21. Nope - I did my good will non-profiting deed with the Wii last year, selling a new one to Taucer at cost. This year my brother and I are out for money.
  22. So ridiculous. And about the Gold DS Lite bundles - I have a feeling that they're going to go for profit on ebay this holiday, although I didn't want to take a chance. Updated haul (all from Amazon): 3 Wiis Call of Duty 4 360 ($48 ) Bioshock 360 ($40) Logitech webcam (-$31) Puzzle Quest PSP ($10) PS3 Sixaxis controller ($20) Rainbow Six: Vegas 360 ($20) I probably could've got 2 more Wiis from Gamestop in the morning but my brother and I didn't feel like going outside to camp, despite being up. Edit: Just bought up 3 Gold DS Lite bundles after seeing people pay $60+ over retail.
  23. 3 Wiis = ebay for ~100% profit He needs it to enhance the black.
