  1. I sure hope this gets resolved soon (we all probably feel that way...) I wonder if Square-Enix saw the numbers and amount of support and thought "HEY! They shouldn't be receiving those funds, WE should!" And then there was that whole deal with the Chrono Trigger Resurrection 3D remake project that got the official Cease and Desist order...
  2. You know, there were a few things in Guilty Crown that I was kind of let down with, but overall I really enjoyed it. I thought their use of the opening and closing theme songs throughout the show was very fitting and symbolic. The words to the second op. theme (The Everlasting Guilty Crown) are pretty meaningful to me, and I've got a few of them in my signature. I loved the concept of "voids," and how each person's void represented their identity or soul in some way. And holy cow, there were some deep topics dealt with (deep for me at least) - like (SPOILER ALERT) what should Shu do in a situation like the one where he has someone asking him to end his life so he won't be a burden on his brother anymore. Moments like that provoked a lot of deep thought for me. I'm almost at the end of Bleach right now (ep. 357) - I've been skipping the "filler seasons." AWESOME. And I'm trying to watch Code Geass as well. Loving both of those shows right now.
  3. My prayers go out for the families and individuals affected in Aurora. I loved the movie for a lot of reasons. I found a lot of symbolism and lessons that can relate to the real world (and by this I do NOT mean that I think Baine should be likened unto a political candidate or one side or the other, rediculous). SPOILER ALERT My favorite message had to do with the prison, the whole concept of Bruce rising, even though he had tried before and fallen. Kind of like the quote from Russel Crow's role in Robin Hood (2010) - "Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions." And there were some powerful images, with the American flag ripped and tattered, hung above the streets of a Gotham "returned to the people," and unjust sentencing trials. I hope we never have to see days like those.
  4. Yeah, I could have sworn JotJ was Apogee. Even if it isn't, I associate it with the Apogee games I played, since they were all on the same computer. Even more of a tangent, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was on that same computer. Lucas Arts, in the style of Monkey Island. Anyone ever play that one? An AMAZING game. I remember playing One Must Fall a little, and Scorch or Scorched Earth, whatever it was (with the tanks, and awesome rainbow gradient backgrounds). I think it was like a great-great grandfather to the Worms series.
  5. Nice work, it paints a futuristic picture. The percussion adds a good industrial kick, and I think the saxophone (?) parts give an "out there in the universe" kind of feel. There isn't really anything in the song that I don't like. The beginning up until 0:34 did seem kind of monotone, but beeps and percussion helped. Then, when the saxes came in, it all tied together. Great work!
  6. Now wait just a minute Ectogemia. . . I had no idea what a theremin was before you posted it (had to look that up), I tend to keep my face clean-shaven, and have a PASSION for ketchup, so I have no idea what you're talking about Sure, Apogee might not be the cup o' tea for some of you, but I'm sure there are others like me, bound by the threads of time to Apogee with warmth and affinity. . . Okay, I admit that sounded kinda weird
  7. Apogee nerds of the world unite! Well, since this strays from the main topic of Steam's sinfully tantalizing Summer Sale, I started a separate thread to reminisce about the good old Apogee days while we wait for Steam to make those games available. I don't see it happening right away, but they've already delved into the world of retro gaming, by releasing the Sega Genesis Classics Pack among other games from yesteryear.
  8. This was inspired by a few comments given in BGC's Steam Summer Sale 2012 thread. Some of my earlier fond memories included being at my grandma's house playing games like Crystal Caves and Monster Bash on their old DOS computer. I loved everything about them. The artwork, the sound effects, the music, the gameplay. . . It was all pretty top notch. What are your favorite Apogee games? Which game would you say is THE best, or if you can't decide on "the best," name a few. My top 3 would have to be 1. Monster Bash, 2. Commander Keen: Goodbye, Galaxy, and 3. Crystal caves. There was just something so satisfying about shootin' the heck out of all those zombies with a slingshot, and collecting all the candy.
  9. I'm blown away at all the support, and am grateful for the extra rewards. FF VI and VII were pretty much my gateway into the world of gaming, and to be able to witness their soundtracks receive this kind of treatment is such a treat!
  10. Thank you so much! I'm still in the process of getting into the remixing scene, but this really got me motivated. Listening to midi files is okay, but there's nothing like hearing the actual sounds!
  11. Agreed. I wish steam would work with Apogee and bring the classics, like the aforementioned DN 1&2, Crystal Caves, Monster Bash, Bio Menace to steam. The list of great Apogee games goes on and on. . . My name is DJLionheart and I have not purchased anything from steam in. . . err . . . about 20 minutes. . . Shoot! Make that 0 minutes: Dear Esther, KotOR, Trine Franchise, Mirror's Edge Crimany, will it ever end!?
  12. I would love a copy of that as well. Blue Lightning was the song that really hooked me on OCRemix.org. I'm a huge fan of your work!

  13. I like the mysterious tone, and the percussion too. You could maybe add some ambient noise in the background, like a faint/distant siren or something. Great job so far!
  14. I like the arrangement. The tempo and guitar work drive the mix along well. It almost seems like the background overpowers the melody a little though.
  15. I like what you have so far. I'm not too familiar with the source, as I haven't played FFXI, but I think you have a good start. The intro has a nice, energetic feel - I'm impressed with the build-up. Is that the melody that comes in at 1:13? It seems a bit separated from the intro, I wonder if there's a way to tie them in with each other a little more. Maybe adding some kind of foreshadowing of the melody in the key/chord structure of the intro?
  16. Awesome! I like the backwater, grassroots feel. Nice work with the multi-tasking, you've got to be pretty coordinated to pull something like that off. I'd like to hear this developed and submitted!
  17. I wrote these songs a few years ago, and tentatively called the album "Heroes" Any feedback and constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. The title comes from the first three tracks, which represent a hero's journey, and I think the fourth one came to me as some kind of RPG-esque small village theme. "Home" was my first attempt at writing lyrics, and I also performed the vocals. 1. The Journey Begins 2. Sacrifice 3. Home 4. Olivia I've been composing a bit more since then, and finished some of them, but have yet to record them. It's on my to-do list though! Thanks
  18. I think a lot of tracks from the compilation album "Potion: Relaxin' with Final Fantasy" (I think many of the songs come from the various Piano Collections albums that have been released) would be quite fitting, especially: Daguerreo, the Hermit's Library, Fisherman's Horizon, Eyes on Me, and Theme of Love to name a few.
  19. I just wanted to comment on the arrangement you posted. I really like the style and mood. Excellent combination of Song of Storms and Serenade of Water, I think they fit really well together. Let us know when this all comes together!
  20. Games purchased so far: Sonic 3 and Knuckles for 2.99!!?? Holy Hana Montanna! I also bought the Jedi Knight Collection for 1.99, and Terraria for 2.49. I guess I'm more of a retro gamer, and tend to not be on the bandwagon as far as new games are concerned (with the exception of Skyward Sword, I do indeed have the Golden Wiimote of Power, but I suppose that's off topic). It seems like this type of marketing strategy follows a time proven method. Lowering the prices temporarily can bring in a lot more money, because revenue is made by the shear volume of sales.
  21. Well, I haven't tried to submit anything before, but I think I'll participate in this. Sounds like fun!
  22. I think I can help out. My family has a flat screen intel-based mac, with a lot of space. I believe we have high bandwidth, and our connection is really fast, from a community Metro-net (fiberoptics = happy web surfer). I'll help out with torrent number 2.
  23. Yeah, I've got it right here. It's on September 30th. Take either Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen to get Mew. Will it work with a DS? Or do you have to have an actual GBA or SP? I'm excited for Pokemon Pearl and Diamond though. The cards stink, and the show is stupid, but the games rock.
  24. Phantom Hourglass is gonna be the bomb.com, but why did they push the release date further away? Wasn't it supposed to come out this year? Final Fantasy III looks pretty awesome too. You guys should check out its cover-story in October's edition of Nintendo Power. Sweet. ----------------------- Now, this isn't exactly a game, but do you guys think it would be cool if Nintendo released a set of Office Tools for DS (Web Browser, Word Processor, Email, etc)? I think it would be useful. Then again, why not just buy a pocket PC?
