  1. Renaming/moving this thread to community for some more exposure. West coast VGM fans unite!
  2. I'm only a couple hours away, so I'm going to look into at least attending. Good to see more west coast vgm stuff. EDIT: Do you guys have a site with detail on the convention itself? If not, it might be a good idea to at least post details here.
  3. Saw a similar thread on Community, which got me thinking about a game I've been wanting to know about for a long time. I apologize in advance because this is gonna be a bit vague since I never actually played the game myself. Timeframe is early 90's, PC game, medieval setting, 4 characters (knights I guess?). The overall goal, as I remember it, is to become famous. There's a larger map where you can travel to different parts of the world to do quests and things to increase your fame. Sorry, that's about all I remember about it. My neighbor had this game while I was growing up (before we even had a computer), and it looked really fun/interesting at the time. For some contemporary context, he also had Eye of the Beholder and an EA boxing game on that same computer. Also, this was the genesis/snes time period. EDIT: Wow, I think I found it. Took at ton of really creative google searching. The game is Darklands. Anyway, yeah, this doesn't look nearly as cool as I remember... I guess 20 years and lower expectations at the time will do that to one's memory
  4. Update time. I've been getting regular updates from both ToN and Argle and they're making fantastic progress. If anyone else wants to take a shot at Slider or Lullaby, they're still free, however, we're not going to wait for those tracks to release. If you want them, you'd just have to be prepared to put something out quickly. On my end, I'm working on the track order and preparing everything for album evaluation. Soon as I get wavs for these last two tracks, it's getting sent in. More to follow. Get excite.
  5. Just got an email from gog.com that they're having a 60% off sale on some awesome classic PC games. A couple examples of games (that I still occasionally play) that are now $2.39 each: Master of Orion I + II (combined pack) Total Annhilation: Commander Pack
  6. Yup, gonna cosign on the general emptiness here. 2:35 was a step in the right direction in this regard. Very cool arrangement on the theme, but the soundscape needs to be fleshed out more. NO resubmit, please
  7. Hey look at that. Just left feedback for him :P

  8. Ugh. No. But you already knew that didn't you? Sorry, just had our 4th kid so I'm a bit out of commission right now. Sooooooooon.

  9. THIS So frustrating that they screwed this up. Still, I powered through at the time to finish both games.
  10. Yeah this track is really hot in the highs. I lost my regular headphones, so I'm having to use some backups that don't have as good high freq response, but this even still is fatiguing my ears to listen to. Levels in general could also be pulled back to ease up on the RMS and compression. Sometimes overcompression is causing distortion, like at the very end of the track. I agree with Vig that the performances could be tightened up. Especially in places like 1:10 with the rhythm guitars. This only stuck me as a minor issue though. On the arrangement side, source connections were clear throughout. Very creative modifications around the OST melody lines to keep things fresh. This is close, IMO, but at the very least the levels & EQ needs to be fixed. NO resubmit, please
  11. Yeah, the first post is up to date, so Lullaby and Slider are still unclaimed.
  12. File Select is now claimed! We're on our way! [/lando voice]
  13. Right now it's going to anyone who can provide a WIP that's up to project standards. Would love you have you on if you can find the time, though.
  14. OK, project update time. I wanted to get an alternate take on the Main Theme, so I was fortunate to be able to bring on ToN for the task. He's already sent in a couple WIPs which are sounding awesome. Very excited for this track. Also, still haven't had a claim on the File Select theme. I'm willing to move forward without Slider or Lullaby, but File Select is a must. Who wants to step up and get a solid WIP together??
  15. Gonna sign off on the above. These both should be relatively easy fixes to be honest. I'll only add that I thought the FP filter effect at 3:00 felt a bit sloppy in it's execution and could be improved. Hopefully, Michael can get this back to us quickly as it is a great arrangement. NO resubmit, please
  16. Nicely produced track here. Great performances throughout as well. I can hear the concerns about source usage. The breakdown was helpful, though some of it definitely pushes beyond what I would consider arranging the source. Still, there's enough here for me that I can hear throughout to be comfortable passing this. YES
  17. Wow, I'm really impressed by the creativity here. You've taken a set of difficult sources and taken them in an interesting (though perhaps somewhat similar to the original) direction. I can hear the source connections throughout. Production is cleaner this time - though I'm not sure "clean" is the correct word here . Good stuff. Way to stick with it. YES
  18. Ok, gonna keep this one short today. I've listened to this one on and off for about a week now, trying to decide which way it was pushing me. I agree with the above crits regarding sequencing on the piano and (I feel more importantly) the strings. But I have to say I'm with Emu that the whole package comes together strongly as the track develops and makes up for the more exposed sections. YES (borderline)
  19. Actually, I was thinking something more in the middle of what you did. Sort of like this: http://nutritious.oceansend.com/Nekko.mp3 It sounds a bit awkward to me to have that type of fill every 4 bars of the beat. Something that drastic should be every 8 at the most, IMO. I'd have a more subtle fill every 4 to keep it from being repetitive. I still think the LP breakdown is early on in the mix, but that's your arrangement decision . New beat is definitely an improvement.
  20. Nope, if someone wants on, they can submit a wip for one of the open tracks. As long as the wip is up to project standards, they get the claim.

  21. I usually don't have to close things like chrome personally, but yes, ASIO4ALL IS that picky when it comes to having sole utilization of sound output. That's part of the reason that it's able to perform better than your default sound drivers: it's bypassing the Windows mixer. If another program is utilizing the sounds, asio can't take control.
  22. That's something I've been exploring lately as we've gone through at least a couple project artists in the past. As of now, I don't have an album artist.
  23. Oh we are! I'm starting to get the back-end logistical stuff taken care of on my end. Let's close out the music, guys! Also, if anyone sees Sole Signal around on AIM or something, please flag him down cause I still need his WAVs. (already PM'd him here)
