  1. So even as you admit that you went overboard, you're still trying to shame djp for pointing it out? You're contradicting yourself in a single post here. Careless is clearly an understatement. I can't even...
  2. Haha. Brandon called me close-minded. The irony! On Topic: While I don't think that OCR's money should go to anything besides the site itself, even in surplus, if Staff would be payed, it should be for the things I mentioned above.
  3. Last time I checked OCR Staff is made up of OC ReMixers, but I also want to point out that the Staff obviously do more than "us". Submissions, website work, organization, etc. I don't remember ever doing anything staff-like on here. If you think you are more useful than the ones operating the site, just because you're an active submitter, then you need to get your head out of your ass, sir.
  4. On Topic: If I have to pick a side, I agree with Chimpazilla, but generally I am in the same camp as DusK. I really don't care; Even if you were profitting from the ads I wouldn't mind, considering how much I have gained thanks to OCR.
  5. He's always been like this, don't worry about it. It's not a recent development. The first step to having a productive conversation on OCR is to ignore Brandon.
  6. Hey guys! As some of you might know already, I play the bass guitar in a local band, where I've also functioned as the mixing engineer/producer of our debut album. It's done, and the first single just went live on youtube. It's nothing like platonist, don't worry. The halfnaked guy in the video is my close friend Dante, he's the songwriter/bandleader. I'm just a filthy minion. Hope you guys like it, we've been working for 3 years to make this happen. Cheers, Jonas
  7. Hey, thanks for listening! And also, liking that old thing still psst... https://soundcloud.com/platonist/solar-jetman-diamond-worlds-remix-shammy-gen-2008-remaster
  8. That's a sample I created by looping hihat noise, with the loop points so close together that they generate a note when pitched really high. The source sample (the hihat) is completely irrelevant at that point, though. It's just a fun way to find unique textures to play with, instead of using "clean" sine waves or the like. I've been doing that from time to time. Once that was done the rest is just pitch modulation.
  9. Thanks for the kind words! Always glad to hear that someone listens. It'll most probably be name your price, so whatever works for you should be good. I've tried both methods and name your price has been working a lot better. Cheers!
  10. Hey, guys! I just posted the first single from a forthcoming mini album that will be released this summer. I've been insanely busy mixing a certain alt rock album so I haven't been able to be active as platonist over the past year or so. But I'm back again 'cause the album is done (not released yet, but stay tuned?). I have had 2 Platonist mini albums in the works behind the scenes for a few years now and things are finally looking up for at least one of them, so I decided to post a preview Single today: Hope you guys like it. Cheers!
  11. Hey! I actually tried that game for the first time a week a go or so. Didn't have time to play for long but the mood/setting was great. I might actually look into remixing this one Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll listen and see if something piques my interest
  12. Hello! Just wanted people to know that I've got a SoundCloud! I used to post music on my label before, but since 2013 ish the label's been more or less dead (!=?). If you're interested in hearing my original music (and potential oc remixes early on!) make sure to follow me! I post everything from chiptunes to weird platonist-esque IDM both originals and remixes. http://soundcloud.com/platonist Also! If you have a request, I'd be all ears, because I've been in a bit of dry spell lately. Inspiration, please! cheers!
  13. Producing some alternative rock albums and composing music for indie games, mostly. But I have submitted a remix that should be on its way through the queues and posting chiptunes on my soundcloud when i have time (last time was may, shame on me)
  14. Thanks! The game play DOES get pretty hectic as you progress. I wanted the in-game soundtrack to reflect that and even increase the feeling of stress you get while turning the GamePad. I only played the game once last summer and the feel I got from it was that of a racing game (because of the wheel like controls) so I wanted to capture space, battle and even racing-like themes into the music. Hopefully I succeeded with that
  15. the funniest thing about this joke is that there is not a single Techno remix on OCR. not one.
  16. Where to start... Uhm... Back in the late 90's I was making EDM under two handles, Da Source (hardcore/gabber (im sorry)) and lunari/lunarian (goa/psytrance). I lost my internet connection in 2002 and didn't come back until 2005. I started my label Reunion to "reunite" with my old scene pals but i didn't make either goa nor hardcore anymore, and thus I had changed my handle to Lynx (because my family name Loman direct translates to Lynxman from Swedish). However, right before (a month or so) I launched my label, another artist had their debut release under the name Lynx, and i didn't want to be Lynx (2) on discogs , so I lowered my head (sighing), and saw a CD-R case with a sheet of paper covering half of it on my desk. The brand was Platinum, but the only text visible was Plat[---] because of the paper, and my mind instantly associated this with the philosopher Plato, and thus, Platonist was born. I just didn't want to think about it anymore, because I had changed name like 5 times during my offline time. So that's that. edit: woops, i forgot i replied to this thread like 2 years ago, but oh well, this explanation was better written than the last one, so I'm keeping this one. haha, time flies
  17. Hey guys! For those who keep an eye on OC Records, you might already be aware of this, but I just debuted as a composer (!), and I decided to release the soundtrack simultaneously with the game. There are two ways to get hold of the soundtrack, either on my bandcamp and on OC Records. I did this because OC Records have followers I don't have and vice versa (Sorry, Andy ) read more about the game in the release description(s), and if you're in Europe and own a Wii U, please support the developers by buying the game cheers! /Jonas OC Records: http://overclockedrecords.com/release/guac-a-mole-ost/ Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/platonist/sets/guac-a-mole-original-soundtrack Bandcamp: https://platonist.bandcamp.com/album/guac-a-mole-original-soundtrack
  18. http://soundcloud.com/platonist/live-tillbakakaka-2014 Hey guys! I debuted my live act last summer at a small festival outside my home town called "tillbakakaka", it's basically a Swedish wordplay on Baking Cookie (baka kaka) and "Back (to) Cookie" (Tillbaka Kaka) xD It doesn't make sense in Swedish either, so don't ask. Anyway, there was no soundboard recording, so my keyboard performance isn't included in this file. It took me some time to restore it and it still isn't perfect - silly me didn't save a studio copy of the set, so the file had suffered from various EQs and some PA compression, but it's tolerable enough now, so I decided to upload it to SoundCloud. Two of my OC ReMixes were included in the set, and some tracks from my debut EP on OverClocked Records / Bandcamp. A lot of unfinished tunes from various work folders are also in there. Hope you guys like it, playing live was fun and I'll hopefully return with more live performances in the future. Enjoy! - Jonas PS: hopefully this post doesn't break the rules of community posts, let me know if that's the case.
  19. thanks! haha, making a game from the soundtrack, that would be cool. i'm aspiring to compose for more games, yes. it's what i'm aiming for anyway.
  20. hey, guys! Platonist / Jonas here! It's been a while since I posted anything on this forum, so instead of posting a single track or whatever I'll just share this playlist of original loopable (if downloaded) chiptunes on my soundcloud. Some of these tunes might be featured on a future release, but there is no guarantee for that, so there we have it. posting this mainly because people seem unaware that I'm still active. web: http://soundcloud.com/platonist/sets/looping-chips mobile: http://m.soundcloud.com/platonist/sets/looping-chips cheers, platonist
  21. hey, thanks for the response. Could you specify what you mean with upgraded? Is this a subjective thing like, ie, you don't like minimal music? Or is the sound/production lacking? I'm a big fan of progression in music, so the empty feel of the first part gives more meaning to the second, as I see it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that.
  22. Hey, guys! I just posted my new remix on soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/platonist/super-metroid-drowning-in-iron-oxide-remix-brinstar-red-soil-wetlands-area feedback super-appreciated! about the mix: I really love the source (brinstar - red soils wetland area) and super metorid is such an godly classic that I just couldn't not remix this. It's a pretty conservative remix in terms of chordprogressions and melody but I tried to keep it as interesting as i could with layering, structure changes / genre-swapping & time signature modifications/alternations. let me know what you think! cheers edit: oh and don't forget to follow me on soundcloud if you like it, i post music, both remixes and original stuff there regularly
  23. Jonas Loman (Platonist) Växjö, Sweden should be pretty to easy to find
  24. oh cool, my solar jetman remix was included here! I'm a bit surprised. afaik it's my least quirky mix O.o on another note, this thread is old!!
  25. Hey guys! Finished another chiptune this week. It's a progressive pop-esque track in a crescendo-like fashion. As expansionist as ever. Listen &/or Download: https://soundcloud.com/platonist/up Feedback appreciated as always ^^ Enjoy!
