  1. Okay, here's the second go at it. -The bass trombone part has been revamped and brought out a little. -I've dropped the harmon mute for now and just had straight trumpet. I kinda miss the harmon sound though. -The ending has been completely redone. -I tried some Miroslav samples for the brass. They're certainly better than Orkester, but still not quite what I want. -I tried to fix some balance issues. -New reverb. I plan on making more percussion in the ending, but Reason kills my damn CPU. Thanks for the previous advice, let's see how I used it. Edit: Percussion added. http://bfratto.googlepages.com/fotd.mp3
  2. Yeah, I've completely redone the ending, making it longer and "more epic" as I've been told would help (thanks to the Mario 64 ReMix guys). I'm also in the search for some better brass samples. I've been offered the use of some Miroslav Philharmonik samples from a friend of mine. We'll see how those work, out as I hear they're fucking awesome samples. Thanks for the advice.
  3. I'm finding this one pretty hard to deviate from the original. Mostly chords, so I would be best off making something mostly original in the melody and just using the progression from the source. It's probably gonna take me longer than I had thought. UTA's music department is eating my soul with nonsensical classes that I should have taken five or six years ago instead of waiting until my 12th semester.
  4. Something about the building of the drums seems abrupt, but I can't put my finger on it. It doesn't offend me, though. I like where the strings are going in the last moments of the song.
  5. I remember despising the music to Tetris Attack, mostly because I had a roommate that played it for a few days almost non-stop. This pretty much killed my hatred for the game and I broke out the SNES to play it. I also really like the panic ending.
  6. It's a midi rip in the sense that I no longer have access to a keyboard, so I notate everything through Noteworthy Composer and then import to Reason. It's not just a instrumentation change of the soundtrack source, though. However, I did get that e-mail and I think I understand what you mean. The only real changes are an elongated introduction, the dissonant strings, and the brass choir in the beginning and end. That and these samples aren't worth a damn. Thanks for the criticism. Looks like I've got a lot of work to do.
  7. It sneaks up on you and then fades away and then comes to kick your ass again. It's pretty much amazing. I kind of like the ending, actually.
  8. I made this several months ago and I've already submitted it to OCR, but the responses I've gotten from others so far lead me to believe that it's probably going to get rejected by the panel. So in the meantime I'd like to get some more feedback on it so that I can improve it. Thanks. http://bfratto.googlepages.com/ForestoftheDamned.mp3
  9. To me it didn't seem as angry. Usually when playing the game I always pictured Bowser and castle bosses as "I'm so fucking angry that I'll kill you and the Princess both!" This version made it seem almost sad. Like he's just a hideous lonely asshole and is out to make the world pay for how sad it's made him. I don't know. Basically, it's incredible.
  10. There's not much left to say that hasn't already said. The drums were weird and I'm not a fan of the beat it had in places, but it doesn't really matter does it? The piece was fantastic, so how could it matter?
  11. Hot damn, Zircon helped me out and now I can actually post in the forums. Like I said earlier, I don't have any approved mixes on OCR, but if you need more mixers, I'm more than willing. Here's the Chrono Trigger mix that I've got in queue to judge. This is one of my Theory/Comp projects for school. It's not at all mastered, I just put it in Reason because I hated how bad MIDI sounds. I don't remember what LRH stands for. Who knows. Let me know if it's not too shitty.
